  1. I would like to congratulate myself on my victory in the yahoo College Pick'em league. Not to brag or anything.
  2. Hopefully they'll have a whole new offensive staff next year.
  3. Don't worry. You'll get Calvin Johnson with the #2 pick. If they draft a WR I want Dwayne Jarrett. But as long as they draft offense, I won't complain too much. As long as the first round pick isn't an O-linemen. Just no defense. For the sake of my sanity. I hope the Pack take whatever WR Oakland doesn't take out of the combination of Jarrett, Johnson, and Smith, if they were to take a WR. I'd have to believe though that they would take a QB. As for the Packers, I don't know what we should do. A stud wideout would be nice. We already have our tackles and our center locked up long term, so I don't see us drafting an OL with our first pick. I'm pretty sure we'd either draft a RB, WR, or a safety. Michael Bush would be a real nice pick at the area where we'd be picking at as of right now. I hope the Raiders take a QB (hello Brady Quinn) and think they should. But remember, this is the Raiders. This was the team that needed a QB last year but passed on Matt Leinart to sign Aaron Brooks instead.

Don't get me wrong, I like them both and would be happy with either but I would take Jarrett. I realize that Reggie Ball is a horrible QB and Johnson is the only good offensive player on his team but he's had too many games in which he's done nothing this year. I know that being the best offensive player gets you more attention but conversely, if you're so great, you should be able to get yourself open at the college level. 4 catches 26 yards against Samford 2 catches 9 yards against Troy 0 catches 0 yards against Clemson 3 catches 13 yards against UNC 2 catches 13 yards against Georgia 2 catches 19 yards against Utah in a bowl game last year I know Jarrett has had some off games as well (1 catch 5 yards vs UW, 4 catches 36 yards vs Arizona) but USC has more weapons on his team so Booty isn't always looking his way. Jarrett has played, and consistently played extremely well, in big games. I would be happy with either but if it was up to me, Jarrett would be my choice.

  6. Typical Raiders. Some stats from the game: -The Raider defense held Houston to 124 total yars including -5, that's right, negative 5, yards passing. David Carr was 7-14, 32 yards and was sacked 5 times for 37 yards lost -The Raiders outgained Houston 302-124 for the game -The Raiders turned the ball over 5 times -Drunkowski was obviously drugged up today as well as being hammered as he missed all three field goals on the day -The Texans were the first team in 25 years to be held to negative yards passing but still win the game I swear if the Raiders draft anybody on the defensive side of the ball in the 2007 draft I might go crazy.
  7. Al Wilson just got carted off the field. Haven't seen a replay yet though.
  8. Herman?
  9. thats what I fear. I dont know what the problem is. Turner? Grossman's brashness? I dont get it. He was phenomenal early in the season, now just junk. I think he needs a mental break. He's still in his first full year starting so he's young. He's played more games this year than in the previous three combined. He's going to have good games and he's going to have bad games. This is why, at the beginning of the year, I didn't like when the media was going nuts after Grossman's first few games and were annointing him the next great QB in the league. It wasn't going to last. Now, the media has pulled a 180 and is ripping Grossman after a few bad games. He's not as good as he played those first few games and he's not as bad as he's played the last few games. Which leads me to Tony Romo. He's the media golden boy right now but you know that won't last. I doubt it gets as bad for Romo as it has for Grossman but as Romo proved today, he's going to have off games. He won't finish the year with a 110 rating. As for benching Grossman, I think it will happen but I'm not sure if it's the best idea or not. Didn't Rex play better than Romo @ NY though? Hmmmm...... In worse weather. Yeah, some of the facts just aren't fitting this convenient hypothesis that Rex just "sucks." It's all mental. Kid's got the skills, just needs to get his head right. Trouble is, with all the screaming I question whether it's even possible to focus and get back to where he needs to be. I really, really feel all this negative media is having an effect. I understand you've got to be able to deal with it, but still. Would be nice to see some more focus on the fact that the Bears are the first to clinch, and have the best record in the NFL. How often has this happened? You missed the point of my post. I wasn't comparing the play of the two QB's and I wasn't ripping Grossman. I was comparing the media's reaction to each of the QBs' play. If Grossman comes out the next four weeks (assuming he's still starting) and turns out four solid games, the media will love him again. On the year, Grossman has been an average QB. He's had good games and he's had bad games. He's a young QB and those types of things happen.
  10. Who should be the starting QB when the Bears take the field next week in St. Louis? Hot topic right now so I figured a poll is in order.

  12. I hate John Madden.
  13. NO, NO, and NO. Rutgers clobbered by Cincy. Out. WVU lost at home to South Florida. Out. Both teams played schedules ridiculously easier than ND's. Out. A one loss Rutgers or WVU? Maybe. But not with two losses. WVU's loss to South Florida screwed them. That WVU-Rutgers game helped. If Rutgers had won, this board would have melted down with all the people yelping for Louisville with 1 loss as an at-large, and I hate to say it but they'd have been right. The way it went down ensured that neither of WVU or Rutgers could be reasonably argued for. I was torn for that game. I wanted 2 Big East teams and the only way that had the potential to happen would be if Rutgers won. But I had no faith in the bowls picking Louisville over Notre Dame. WVU losing to South Florida killed any hope of 2 Big East teams. If they finish with one loss I think they would have been picked as an at large because of how highly they were rated at the beginning of the year.
  14. this bites as that matchup will do nothing to settle the long debate. Wake blows. Not to mention the fact that WVU is stuck playing Georgia Tech and Rutgers has to play Kansas State. I wish either Louisville or WVU got to play a Pac 10/Big 10/SEC team. But no. At least we get an Arkansas-Wisconsin matchup though.

  16. And the Jay Cutler era begins in Denver.
  17. Of the eligible at large teams, after Boise St, Michigan, and LSU, ND was the most deserving of a BCS bowl. Go ahead and say that UW/Auburn/whoever else you want to was more deserving but they're ineligible because of the rule.
  18. I realize you're exaggerating but you might be underrating Boise State just a bit. I like Boise State, but OU has been a buzzsaw for about 2 months now. Add in that they have a vast physical/talent advantage and I think it's going to get ugly. Boise State is 14th in total defense. Before you dismiss this with they typical "they didn't play anybody", let me say that they did play in the WAC which typically has good offenses. They pounded Oregon State and scored 42 straight points. They demolished Nevada on both sides of the ball. This team is better than people think. I think Oklahoma will win the game but I don't think it will be a blowout. And I'm still not sold on Paul Thompson as a competant QB.
  19. I hope everyone in America agrees with you. And I mean that. Agreed. because that means that everyone else in America realizes, like you do, that Notre Dame doesn't deserve a BCS spot. Under the BCS rules, with only 2 teams allowed per conference, ND does deserve a bid.
  20. I realize you're exaggerating but you might be underrating Boise State just a bit.
  21. Nothing about ND losing sucks.
  22. That's not really saying much.
  23. If you're a betting man you'll get good odds on that.
  24. No shock there. Thanks for posting that.
  25. Orange Bowl has Louisville vs Wake Forest. Once again, no surprise.
