I mean, it doesn’t help that three reliever died in the past month. That being said, they should have gotten pen help at the deadline.

Personally managing like a playoff game doesn’t include removing good defenders for bad ones when you have the lead.

Why the horsefeathers are we bunting with a catcher on first?

It wouldn’t be quite as bad for a couple reasons but we’re awfully close to our version of Cincy collapsing against Pittsburgh last week.

Dodgers lose so the Braves are 4 up on them with the tiebreaker with 6 to play.

Seattle winning two of their next three is ideal. That would leave Houston either 1 game up (Hou/Sea split and Sea wins Thu) or them tied (Sea beats Hou twice but loses Thu). That would mean Houston has to try at least Fri and Sat against Arizona since Seattle holds the tiebreaker over Houston.

If the Cubs go 6-0 they make the playoffs. Let’s do that.

The schedule isn't that bad. For Atlanta, Strider just pitched today so we miss him and Fried and Morton just got placed on the IL. So we get Elder Tuesday and ??? the other two games. I get Atlanta's offense is loaded but they aren't going to go all out just to beat the Cubs. They're up 3.5 on LA with 6 to play (7 for LA) and they have the tiebreaker. So if LA goes 7-0, the Braves would only have to go 3-3 to get the 1 seed. The only way the Milwaukee series matters to them is if we sweep Atlanta and St Louis sweeps Milwaukee. And if that happens, great! Because it means we won 3 times and are probably in good shape. If they have the division locked, they're resting dudes for the WC series starting Tuesday. Does that mean we're going to make the playoffs? Of course not. Other teams have easier schedules. But ours could be worse.

I understand why but I still think it's funny that the DBacks, Cubs and Marlins are all more likely than not to make the playoffs yet one won't. It was the opposite a week or so ago where the DBacks, Marlins, Reds and Giants were all less than 50% to make the playoffs but one of them will make it.

That's almost as good of a day as possible. The only team we want to lose that didn't is Philly and we're 5 back of them so we're probably not catching them anyway. Other than that, the DBacks, Marlins and Reds all lost, plus the Braves won while the Dodgers lost so Atlanta is up 5 now for the 1 seed.
