  1. What a stupid rule. If you’re not going to allow teams to sign players until their 50 to massage the CBT, deferred money shouldn’t affect it either.
  2. Thanks. That makes sense. Seems like a bit of a loophole though to do a contract that way.
  3. I don’t understand why the deferred money matters for the CBT. If he signs a 10 year deal for $700M, shouldn’t it just be $70M for the CBT each year? Someone explain this to me in English, please, or point me to an article that does it.
  4. Logically it seems like it should be the case too. Otherwise you’re essentially signing the guy to a 25 year deal (or whatever it is). Weren’t a couple of the deals last winter not allowed because a team tried to stretch it too far on how many years they offered?
  5. FWIW. This is where it came from.
  6. That’s insane money. So with this, Betts and Freeman they’re pretty much locked in to whatever the max luxury tax is right? Like unless they just have cheap guys all around them.
  7. That joke is never going to get old, nor should it.
  8. To be fair it was already Dec 9 in Japan 8 hours ago when it first got brought up.
  9. Not really. Toronto has more playoff appearances the last two years as LA has in the last 14. Toronto won 89+ games each of the last 3 seasons. The last time LA did that was 07-09.
  10. He’s clearly 100% hung up on the whole threatening teams thing which was very likely way overblown.
  11. I don’t think he’s aware of 95% of what’s going on right now. He’s meeting with teams and his agent and doing what he thinks he needs to do to get the best deal with the right team.
  12. Over under of 0.5 seconds DeSantis spent watching FSU this year? I'll go under.
  13. This is a good PTR joke if you assume he actually meant $500 and not $500M.
  14. I see 1 maybe interesting game in Missouri-Oregon. Two rematches, one featured 3 total TDs and the other a 52-17 blowout. And the fourth game will feature a backup or 3rd string QB. And it wouldn’t be FSU-OU. It would be Liberty instead of OU which would somehow be even less interesting. Last year would have been Tulane-TCU (boring), OSU-PSU (rematch, though a higher scoring game), Bama-USC (I’d watch) and Tenn-Kansas St (another injured QB). And ridiculously enough, 2 loss Clemson and 3 loss Utah get byes.
  15. Whether or not a team gets a bye is not close to the same stakes as whether a team is in the playoffs or not.
  16. Is that supposed to be a good thing?
  17. Except conference championship week won’t matter as much next year. Like I’d probably still tune in to Wash-Ore and Georgia-Bama if I had time. But I wouldn’t make it a point to watch them anymore. For example, I didn’t watch the regular season game between Wash and Oregon. But I made a point to watch each of those two games. I also watched some of the ACC game after dinner. Won’t do that next year knowing FSU gets in no matter what. I’m still going to watch the games because I’m a sports fan. But the season and playoff will be less interesting to me next year.
  18. Likely Carolina due to that division being awful. Whoever played the weaker schedule gets the better pick.
  19. I couldn’t be any less excited for the Orange or the Fiesta.
  20. We basically just did have a weekend of playoff games. All that will mean next year is you’re changing which games matter and when they’re played.
  21. Petition to swap Liberty with Georgia. Let Liberty and FSU face off and give me Georgia-Oregon instead.
  22. FSU barely beat BC, Miami and Clemson too. Goes both ways on that. LSU hung with both teams for a half before both pulled away. Plus even if the SEC is down a bit this year, it’s still stronger than the ACC.
  23. i disagree with it but at least that I understand. The ACC stinks and FSU lost their QB.
  24. You could maybe sell me on putting Bama in over FSU due to the injury. I wouldn't do it personally. An undefeated major conference team gets in unless there are five of them. My vote would be Michigan, Washington, Texas and FSU in that order. Sorry Bama. Shouldn't have lost at home to Texas.
