  1. So you were here a year before the site was created? Interesting. :D But in regards to the topic, I prefer some of the newer stats but that is mostly offensively (OBP, SLG, OPS) but am figuring out some of the pitching stats. The more complicated (in my mind) stats like VORP and WARP (especially this one) might as well be in a foreign language as far as how they are calculated. I understand what VORP means though. I'm starting to understand OPS+ and ERA+ though. When people start talking about fielding metrics, I just skip over that conversation because I have no idea what they're talking about.
  2. Can't wait for this. My MLBTV should renew tomorrow so with Gameday Audio, I'll be listening. GO CUBS!!!
  3. He's exactly what we thought he was.
  4. :banned:
  5. I generally try to catch errors as I type them.
  6. Wow. I feel bad for the guy. Hope his surgery(ies) and rehab goes well.
  7. No criticism that I know of at GT. The only worry I have (and this COULD fall on the QB at Tech) is that he disappeared at times during big games when he wasn't thrown to early. I have no idea if he was shut down, or if he was pulling a Randy Moss and taking plays off. as others have born witness, it was reggie ball who disappeared, not johnson. I mistakenly doubted Johnson but after the bowl performance against West Virginia - when he actually had a semi competent QB throwing the ball to him - I realized it was Ball who brought him down.
  8. He still wouldn't get past the Bengals. Very nice. =D>
  9. 40 reps? are you sure? that's more than most linemen.... 27 reps at 225 reading is hard So we already knew you can't do math. Now you say reading is hard. Is there anything you can do? :D
  10. So awesome.
  11. Peyton came to see Pat in her cheerleading outfit, ha ha Did Pat Summitt actually dress up?
  12. Ahem
  13. Did anybody see the Shaun Livingston dislocated knee? That was sickening.
  14. I believe you can only have one entry per Yahoo ID, but if you have more than one e-mail address you can probably create a different Yahoo ID for each of them. There are other contests besides Yahoo; I believe ESPN, CBS Sportsline, and Sporting News have similar contests (although I don't think you can register for any of those yet), and you can always have different brackets in different contests. It says each person can have 5 brackets on yahoo. My interpretation of that was that you could participate in five leagues, not have five brackets in the same league. I could be wrong though. EDIT: If you click on the "cool new features" link from the registration page it clearly states that you can only assign one bracket to each group. So you'd need to join five groups (any combination of public and private) to have five brackets. Ah, that makes sense then. Thanks for the clarification.

  16. That pretty much eliminated any chance Georgetown had of getting a #1 seed.
  17. Is each person only allowed one bracket?
  18. LOL at a picture about some guys waiting to have their picture taken.
  19. Spring training games don't count. Somebody already has that date. Look at the first page of the thread.
  20. The original CSI is on Thursday.
  21. a video of it. Here is the John Terry video if you haven't seen it.
  22. Wow. Just saw both the brawl and the Terry injury, and yeah, the Terry injury was scary. That's nuts.
  23. Playing time in college > practice time in the NBA. It's not highly unlikely he won't get much time in the NBA. He's not a very good offensive player right now and he would benefit from playing another year in college. I don't think he will stay, but it would be better for him. Yes, something bad could happen to him, and people always throw this out there, but it's highly unlikely. This isn't football. You're really understating his ability on the offensive end. No, he's not Tim Duncan. But he's probably no worse than Samuel Dalembert, and he gets 30 minutes on a bad team. And bad things don't just happen to football players. (Donnie Boyce?) Besides, wasn't even talking on the court. It could be anything (a la Jay Williams.) Staying in college doesn't make much sense. I didn't know being compared to Samuel Dalembert was a good thing for a guy who is supposed to be the next great center in the league. yeah, because that's the point I was making. You're over here talking like Oden is a quadraplegic Greg Ostertag on offense, when the fact is, he's probably just as refined as half the pro centers out there. The difference is, he's 18, not 24. And he'll get better. And if he's smart, he'll do it playing against the best players in the world, not Northwestern's 6'7" center. If he doesn't dominate at the college level how is he going to at the pro level. I know he's 18 and I know he's going to get better - I'm not doubting that. Look at his three biggest games this year (since he didn't play against UNC): Florida: 7 points, 6 rebounds Wisconsin: 10 points, 7 rebounds and 11 points, 5 rebounds. Oh, and since you included it, in one of the games against Northwestern he finished with 5 points and 6 rebounds in 29 minutes (though the other game he got 17 and 17). Obviously we aren't going to convince each other of anything so let's just agree to disagree and be done with this debate.
