  1. Durant has 8 points including 2 3-pointers already. EDIT: 12 points in just 7 minutes and Texas is up 15 on KU.
  2. They always call things like that. On a drive when the defender jumps in the air, the offensive guy jumps into him and gets the foul call. If there is contact and both are in the air, the foul is called on the defender.
  3. UNC is now up 14 and ready to run away with this thing.
  4. Al Horford just limped off with an ankle/knee injury when an Arkansas player ran into his leg. Didn't look bad but didn't look too good either.
  5. The conference tournaments don't matter as much for the higher seeds and the top seeds aren't going to drop too much with an early round loss (i.e. UCLA is only going to drop to a 2 if they drop at all). But the conference tournament does matter a ton for the lower seeds. Just last year Syracuse went from being a bubble team to a #5 seed (complete crap FTR) because they won 4 games in 4 days to win the Big East tournament. That's where the media gets the thought that the conference tournaments mean so much. Obviously for most teams, it doesn't mean that much but it has the potential to (and that's outside of a team gaining an automatic berth when they wouldn't have had a chance at an at large).
  6. I would think that if Kansas wins they'll get a #1 seed especially if OSU loses to Wisconsin because they would be the top team in the final polls. OSU is also a lock. If Wisconsin and Florida both win, I think they get #1's and UNC will get left out win or lose. If either Wisconsin or Florida loses their final and UNC wins the ACC, I think UNC gets the final #1 seed. UNC might have no chance as they have 6 losses. And I agree that UCLA will not get a #1 seed unless a couple of UNC, Florida, Kansas, and Wisconsin lose.
  7. Finally saw the ending of the MAC championship game and I have to wonder, how on earth did the referee's end up with 0.6 seconds left on the clock. That made absolutely no sense. I could see 0 and I could somehow (albeit incorrectly) see 1.2. But 0.6? They're just lucky Miami didn't get burned at the end with the extra time that was put back on the clock.
  8. Nice to know you have magical insights into the future. The fact is that, other than a #16 seed beating a #1 seed, anything can and has happened in the tournament. Well, Kansas is a 1 seed this year. =D> Very nice.
  9. Who's Mark Buehrle? Hey, somebody had to make the joke.
  10. For the record, my argument isn't necessarily anti-Illinois as it is pro-Stanford i.e. I was arguing why Stanford deserved to be picked over Illinois if the two were up for the last open spot. I'm not sure if Illinois deserves to be in or not (though I may have said something like that yesterday, I'm not sure) because I haven't looked up info on the teams other than Stanford that are on the bubble.
  11. Lunardi just likes to hear himself talk this time of the year. His last Bracketology posted on Espn.com has the last four in as Purdue, Illinois, Drexel, and Old Dominion. The last four out are Air Force, Florida State, Kansas State and West Virginia and next four out are Missouri State, Stanford, Appalacian State and Mississippi State. What in the world could Kansas State and Stanford have done for themselves since this morning that moved them up to the last four in? Either he was full of you know what this morning or is now. He just moves teams around so his reports seem interesting. Not that it really matters, Illinois has one and done written all over them this year. But they are more deserving than Kansas State and Stanford. Yep, well said on everything. Kansas State and Stanford have no right in being ahead of Illinois for a spot tomorrow. Lunardi is becoming an egotistical, arrogant meathead these last couple of years. And I'll agree that Illinois has one and done all over them. BUT, that does not mean they should be snubbed over a couple of other undeserving teams. I don't know about Kansas State but Stanford most definitely deserves to be in over Illinois without question. Yeah, Stanford's RPI of 65 and Strength of Schedule of 36 is WAY better than Illinois RPI of 31 and Strength of Schedule of 31. I am sure an argument could be made either way, but "most definitely" and "without question" is a bit overstated. 10-8 in the Pac 10 is better than 9-7 in the Big 10. In conference, Stanford beat UCLA, USC, WSU, Oregon. Illinois' best win is Indiana twice. Stanford played more games against the Top 100 in the RPI and went 9-12, while Illinois went 7-10 though the extra games and wins were against teams between 51-100 in the RPI (both went 4-8 against Top 50). Stanford played in a better conference and beat better teams and before you play the record game, I'm sure Illinois record would have been a bit different had they played Wisconsin and OSU twice in the regular season rather than just once. And Illinois got both those two teams at home. I'm sure Stanford would have preferred to not have to travel to play UCLA and WSU also. Technically, the at home thing was a problem for Illinois. The rule in the Big 10 this year was-the 3-8 teams could only beat the 9-11 teams on the road, and only Ohio State and Wisconsin could beat everybody on the road. If Illinois had only played Ohio State and Wisconsin on the road instead of at home, that meant they would have played Purdue at home instead of on the road (the other game would have been Penn State, who they would have won on the road or at home). They likely would have beat Purdue at home, and so if they had played Ohio State and Wisconsin only on the road instead of only at home their conference record would be 10-6 instead of 9-7. They did get a break that they only played OSU and Wisconsin both only once in the first place though-the home thing was just not an advantage for them. That was what I was trying to get at. I was implying that had they played Wisconsin and OSU twice in place of another team, they likely would have had at least one more loss, if not two.

  13. I would think that with A&M's early exit from the Big 12 tourney that Georgetown would have just earned a #2 for the NCAA tourney with this win.

  15. But his lack of "it" wasn't quite as disheartening as his last appearance. Yes, Prior made noticeable improvements. What did he do better for those of us who didn't watch? Tim put it best: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Blogs/ Well that is definitely some good news. Hope he continues to improves. How sweet it would be to have a healthy and effective Prior this year.

  17. There's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with short girls, so long as they're not stubby. I'd take a 4'10" girl with a hot body over a 5'10" girl with a hot body anyday, and I've dated both. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to figure out why. I couldn't date a girl almost 2 feet shorter than I am. Both weird and ackward. Of course, 5'2" was a different story, so maybe I'm wrong. But seriously, I was taller than that when I was 8. Agreed. Give me the 5'10 girl anyday. Out of curiosity, how tall are you anyway Careless? As for the actual question, considering I'm looking at Beyonce at the cover of the SI Swimsuit issue right now, I'll go with her. But you can't go wrong with either.
  18. at the Oregon-USC score, 78-46 Oregon.
  19. Maybe if Holy Cross gave out cars and money to their players, they could compete as well. But they don't.
  20. Dude is unreal.
  21. If he would have hustled, not only would ARam made it to third standing up, he would have had an inside the park home run.
  22. Thanks for posting. Should be some good matchups. I really like the AC Milan/Bayern Munich matchup. Hopefully they'll show that game on 4/3. I doubt it. English teams always get preference. My bets are on PSV-'Pool and Man U-Roma Are they not going to be showing games on espn2 and classic at the same time? I'm not sure if they will or not but I was just referring to ESPN2 since I don't get Classic.
  23. I hope Lunardi's wrong. But with some mid majors (Butler and Nevada) that were locks not winning their conference tournament, it takes spots away from bubble teams. It would be nice if the Pac-10 got 6 teams in the tournament though. Plus, he has Illinois in the tournament right now and they don't deserve to be there, at least not over Stanford.
  24. Wow. Just heard this on ESPN. Bill Simmons has probably passed out in disbelief by now.
