  1. Narrator: “It was longer than 10 days.”
  2. Solid work Russell, you useless sack of horsefeathers.
  3. Rockies gave up 17 runs to the Reds on Saturday and then another 9 on Sunday. They’re down 13-0 to the Giants in the 5th inning today. Oh, and it’s a doubleheader today.
  4. Two straight days of good hitting and good pitching? Did we transport back to 2016? Now, I know you all are thinking the second half Cubs have been activated. But what if, and bare with me here, it's just a continuation of the first half home Cubs. The correct answer, at least for the next week, is who gives a horsefeathers because we've got 6 more home games coming up. The Cubs are facing a good pitcher in this one which means one (or more) of the board's resident ninnies is surely wondering how the Cubs will ever score any runs, especially since he's pitched well in two starts against the Cubs this year. Bad news for Castillo is both of those starts were in the first half and not at Wrigley. Go CUBS!!!
  5. That was epic but boy did Federer ever blow it. Up 5-3 in the 1st set tiebreak and he loses 4 straight points including a couple bad errors. Then two match points in the 5th set at 8-7 (I think) and he can’t convert. That one will sting for him for a while.
  6. So the Cubs got good pitching and good hitting on the same day? I wasn't aware they were allowed to do that. You see something new in baseball every day I guess. I believe this is the first time the Cubs have won a series since sometime in 2018 (at least that's how it seems) and while that's nice, getting a sweep to start the second half would be even better. Get it done, jerks. Go CUBS!!!
  7. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=62414 There were actually 43 posts in that game thread which was easily a September high for that year. It was also the rare thread that Fred didn’t start (RIP).
  8. True story: The Cubs have only lost one game in the past 9 days. I mean sure, they've had more off days than games in that time but you've got to start somewhere. In other news, the Cubs won today while everyone else in the division lost so that's good. Would be nice if that happened a couple more times this weekend. Go CUBS!!!
  9. Posey slam in the 10th!
  10. I would go with Russell. His ceiling was higher. Was his ceiling all that much higher if Schwarber could’ve stayed at catcher? I guess I was assuming he wouldn’t have stayed at catcher but if he could have then that definitely changes things.
  11. I would go with Russell. His ceiling was higher.
  12. As has been the case, the offense does exactly enough to make sure Darvish gets a no decision.
  13. Remember how when we had Edwin Jackson in our rotation and it seemed like he was starting every other day even though we knew that wasn't possible? That's how I feel starting game threads. Except in this case, we are burning through the list as fast as it seems. Anyway, enjoy two more days with no Cubs losses! Go CUBS!!!
  14. He had his chance in the first 3 swing off. Vlad only hit one and Joc homered on his first swing. Had two chances to win and couldn’t do it.
  15. That was pretty bad from Marisnick. He went out of his way to hit Lucroy. He could have tried to go wide but with like 10 feet left he goes inside to drill Lucroy. And then he goes to check on Lucroy right after as if he wasn’t trying to blow him up and it wasn’t on purpose? horsefeathers that dude.
  16. Win this one and the Cubs are guaranteed 8 straight days without a loss. I mean, sure, they’ll only play 3 games in those 8 days but you’ve got to take what you can get.
  17. Wait, so the Cubs won and the Brewers lost and the Cardinals lost all in the same day? I didn't know that was allowed anymore.
  18. Russell in the lineup? Put this one in the loss column. Cubs started their bad stretch on June 10. They’ve played 24 games since then and are 9-15. Russell has started 16 of those games and the Cubs are 3-13. In the 8 games he hasn’t started, they’re 6-2. He also didn’t start any of the 3 games against the Cardinals the weekend before and the Cubs swept the series. The weekend before that when the Cards swept the Cubs, guess who started all three games?
  19. Didn't realize they'd been playing so well. 26-10 since starting 19-31.
  20. That’s what makes this so infuriating. If the Cubs were just playing decent, they’d be 2-3 games up. If they were playing well, they’d be 5-6. It’s not like the Brewers are on pace for 95 wins where if we were playing well, we’d be tied or a game back. The division is there for the taking and the Cubs won’t take it.
  21. And there goes the lead. Nice throw home, Albert.
  22. Hooray, another early lead to cough up!
