  1. I like that the AL East team we get 4 games against is the Orioles.
  2. The Giants had a good run before the deadline, and are already back to reality this month. The Reds aren't a good team and are in 4th in this mediocre division and are only close to .500 due to owning us, the Cardinals would need to drop the next 5 games to the Reds to be as bad as we are. It would be cool if they could help, but you are going to be severely let down if you are expecting any kind of real help from those teams going forward. Yeah but the Giants and Reds have both won 2 of their past 3 games - both were against teams over .500 also - so clearly they’re hot again.
  3. Cardinals take the lead because Hurdle just left his pitcher in to flounder.
  4. They also have 8 games against the Reds (3 under) and 4 against SF (2 under). Teams who would be worse if they didn't beat us Well if you take out all of the games the Cubs lost they’d be undefeated so clearly they’re going to roll to the World Series.
  5. They also have 8 games against the Reds (3 under) and 4 against SF (2 under).
  6. They will figure it out in a few games. Trust me. Cubs can’t win on the road and Pirates can’t win anywhere. Something’s got to give.
  7. We scored a bunch of runs that last game in Milwaukee and then got 3 total in 3 games against the Cardinals. I’m fully expecting like 7 runs total the next three games.
  8. Could really have used a ball in play there.
  9. Gerardo Parra homered for the Nationals against the Giants yesterday. That’s not really noteworthy by itself. However, not only did Parra play for the Giants earlier this year, but he homered against the Nationals while playing for the Giants. Wonder if that’s ever happened before. Obviously guys have done it over multiple seasons. I assume it’s occurred before but I wonder how frequently it happens.
  10. On the road again Going places where we never win Seeing things I don't want to see again And I can't wait to get back home again
  11. Next month for the Brewers: 3 vs. Texas 2 vs. Minnesota 3 at Washington 3 at St. Louis 3 vs. Arizona 3 vs. St. Louis 3 at Cubs 2 vs. Houston 4 vs. Cubs So that's 26 straight games against teams currently at or above .500. September is much easier (4 at Miami, 4 vs. SD, 3 vs. Pitt, 3 vs. Cincy, 3 vs. Col), but they could be buried by the time that comes around.
  12. Now do Daniel Descalso. Then do Carlos Gonzalez. Then do Martin Maldonado. And Brandon Kintzler last year.
  13. Right last year Boston won when 35 year old Steve Pearce won World Series MVP after getting traded there in season. Steve Pearce had a .868 OPS in Toronto and a .901 OPS with Boston.
  14. They should have just let Davis go. Hyde wasn't in any real danger because Davis would have just swung and missed anyway.
  15. Don’t get used to it. They’ll be taking a break for the next 10 games.
  16. The team with the worst OPS in the International League this year (.753) would be tied for the league lead last year. League OPS is up 85 points. The league is on pace to hit 2515 home runs. Last year they hit 1555. In the PCL they’re on pace for 3330 homers after hitting only 2097 last year.
  17. Since Mark Grace retired, the Cubs have won 1 a World Series when Derek Lee want the first baseman. Someone hit the bottle a little hard last night.
  18. I think we all know which one is more likely.
  19. Every out after the 7th for our pen is tough.
  20. Obviously you haven't seen the Yankees this year.
  21. Brandon horsefeathering Kintzler isn't going to make or break the rest of our season you overreactionary doofus.
