  1. Darvish out after only 72 pitches is odd. Was he on that much of a pitch count after missing one start?
  2. Well I was wrong. What are the odds this helmet stuff was pure BS? Like there’s a decent chance he never wanted to go to the Raiders but he knew Pittsburgh wouldn’t trade him somewhere he wanted to go (like NE). So he signs the big deal, makes a huge fuss out of the helmet and gets himself released so he can sign where he wants to.
  3. Army missed a 50 yard FG at the buzzer. Going to OT.
  4. I don't think there will be an upset, but Army is good at grinding out long drives, so the game could very well be closer than 22 points That’s what I was getting at. And they’re tied with 2:32 left. Army getting the ball back at their own 40 also.
  5. It seems obvious but he doesn’t seem to care about the football situation he’s in. He cares about money and getting enough targets. The whole reason he wanted out of Pittsburgh was they weren’t willing to give him the guaranteed money he wanted. Oakland did so he went there. I doubt Belichick hands him $30M guaranteed (if NE even has the cap space).
  6. He’s been released. This team is a complete joke.
  7. Because I don’t like those cities. And no one likes Sacramento, so.....lose lose lose Cool. I'm glad you felt the need to jump into a thread about a sport you don't care about to defend St. Louis and Cincinnati.
  8. The Mets are a game worse than the Phillies. As long as neither team sweeps, it’s a fine result. No need getting upset over that. Plus it’s always funny when the Mets implode.
  9. why? Because I don’t like those cities.
  10. MLS coming to Sacramento. I’m still annoyed they gave teams to Cincinnati and St Louis first but better late than never.
  11. My first thought was you meant he’ll be fired. Then I realized you were referring to the rule change.
  12. Got lucky they didn’t throw to 2nd there.
  13. Very nice pitch by Jackson. Could have been about a foot lower but I’m not going to complain.
  14. Giants take the lead.
  15. 7 in the 9th and the Nats walk it off. It’s just not going to break our way this year. 1) The wildcard is for losers 2) The Mets collapsing in spectacular fashion is ALWAYS a good thing. And if you want the Cubs to make the playoffs, you should probably root for the one team ahead of us in the wild card to beat a team that is within striking distance of us, since that team in front of us is in another division.
  16. I feel the same, just be within 1-2 games heading in to the Wrigley series. It’s still against us at this point with so few games left but there’s a chance. Also I know it’s a trip out there but San Diego is pretty bad themselves if the Rockies are a “shell of themselves.” 19-27 in the second half, Tatis done for the year, Franmil traded, Paddock could be shut down soonish, Greene is likely getting bounced at years end too. Yeah, the formula for us to win the division is to manage to stay close through mid next week (say, 6-3, and hope the Cards don't just crush SF/Pit/Col), then either go 4-3 against St. Louis and destroy Pittsburgh (while the Cards are so-so against Mil/Wash/Ari) or go 5-2 against the Cards and then just be better than them in the other games. Through 137 games last year, the Brewers were 5 games back of us with 6 H2H games remaining. They went 4-2 in those games. I know the Brewers got super hot (19-6 to end the year) but they also had to make up 2 more games than we do this year. So it's tough to do, and the Cubs will have to play well to do it, but it wouldn't be the craziest thing for it to happen. We're somewhere between 1 in 3 and 1 in 5 to win the division. Which seems long until you remember that the Brewers were somewhere between 1 in 10 and 1 in 20 last year at this time. That being said, I certainly wouldn't bet on this team winning the division because they haven't shown the ability to play the kind of good baseball this year that it will likely take to win the division. But it wouldn't be the craziest thing if it happened.
  17. Did Bryant go right away? Seemed like he was still running when Rizzo was, he just got to the base quicker because Rizzo is slow as horsefeathers.
  18. Can’t wait to see how they squander this opportunity.
  19. Rebuild didn’t fail come on Yeah, we can argue about how successful it was or wasn’t, but we won a title, made 3 straight NLCS, 4 straight playoff appearances, 4 straight 90+ wins (including 3 of 95+).
  20. Because the alternatives are Taylor Davis and Daniel Descalso. I assume Zobrist isn’t available since he would have batted earlier.
  21. Is it bad to swing at two pitches out of the zone in one at bat?
  22. Can’t wait to see who hits into the DP.
  23. Could have used a little wind there.
