I feel the same, just be within 1-2 games heading in to the Wrigley series. It’s still against us at this point with so few games left but there’s a chance. Also I know it’s a trip out there but San Diego is pretty bad themselves if the Rockies are a “shell of themselves.” 19-27 in the second half, Tatis done for the year, Franmil traded, Paddock could be shut down soonish, Greene is likely getting bounced at years end too. Yeah, the formula for us to win the division is to manage to stay close through mid next week (say, 6-3, and hope the Cards don't just crush SF/Pit/Col), then either go 4-3 against St. Louis and destroy Pittsburgh (while the Cards are so-so against Mil/Wash/Ari) or go 5-2 against the Cards and then just be better than them in the other games. Through 137 games last year, the Brewers were 5 games back of us with 6 H2H games remaining. They went 4-2 in those games. I know the Brewers got super hot (19-6 to end the year) but they also had to make up 2 more games than we do this year. So it's tough to do, and the Cubs will have to play well to do it, but it wouldn't be the craziest thing for it to happen. We're somewhere between 1 in 3 and 1 in 5 to win the division. Which seems long until you remember that the Brewers were somewhere between 1 in 10 and 1 in 20 last year at this time. That being said, I certainly wouldn't bet on this team winning the division because they haven't shown the ability to play the kind of good baseball this year that it will likely take to win the division. But it wouldn't be the craziest thing if it happened.
