  1. horsefeathers Pablo Reyes. Tired of him. Probably should have cut that ball off. Had a better chance of getting Reyes at second.
  2. Could have used a little more loft on that ball from Schwarber. Would have been long gone.
  3. Where did Flaherty rank? Tied for 4th. Here’s the full story if you want to read it.
  4. Cardinals have Scherzer/Corbin/Strasburg in the next series coming up so if we can man up for once and sweep this weekend I think we want the VBs to take 1 if not 2 of the next games. But that assumes we are good and can win. Agreed. If we can pick up 1 this weekend, we'd have a two game cushion on the Brewers and would be three back of the Cards. Hope Washington can win that series and if we just win the series against the Reds, we're only two back going into the 4 gamer at Wrigley next weekend. Bottom line, is the Cubs just need to win games and good things will happen if they do.
  5. What's that, you needed another reminder about how absurdly great Pedro Martinez was? Was reading an article about how good Jack Flaherty has been in the second half and they listed the best half seasons by OPS+ since 1920. The best was God Mode Jake's 2016 second half at a 13 OPS+ allowed. Tied for 4th on the list was Pedro's second half in 2000 at a 19 OPS+. Tied for 6th on the list was Pedro's first half in 2000 at a 24 OPS+. So two of the top six spots ever were both by Pedro in the same season.
  6. Brewers down 7-0 in the 6th. Flaherty is pitching tomorrow also so realistic chance they get swept.
  7. He’ll do it in Game 162 in St Louis after we clinch the division on Saturday.
  8. Why is Lester facing Newman? horsefeathers off Joe this is must win. Who cares about his horsefeathering W.
  9. 75 pen arms and Joe just going to leave Lester out there.
  10. Infield hit to Bote. He makes a diving stop. Reyes tried to go second to home and Bote throws him out.
  11. Well I’ll be checking back in an hour or so to see if it gets better. Doesn’t appear to be much of a point in following.
  12. So on one play we have -a terrible throw to second on a steal attempt -neither the SS nor 2B covering on time anyway -an overthrow back in to the infield Lovely
  13. And also the alternative is Heyward. .391/.500/.870 last 7 games Heyward is god awful against lefties this year and had been his whole career. While Almora is equally as awful against lefties this year, he’s traditionally been better against lefties than righties. Neither option is good, but Almora is the better one of the two today.
  14. He's hitting .500 against this pitcher And also the alternative is Heyward.
  15. Realistically, 11-5 probably does it, maybe 12-4. The only way we catch the Cards is to go 5-2 against them which knocks out 3 of the 4 games. Going 6-3 in the other 9 probably gets it done with the Cards schedule (Wash, Mil, Ari). Cards do have to face Strasburg, Corbin and Scherzer in that series. Even if we go 4-3 against St Louis, 8-1 in the other games might be enough to win the division outright but would probably get at least a tie. That being said, I’m not sure if 11-5 or 12-4 would happen either.
  16. Because of past year when we were between 90 and 95% to win the division at the end of August and didn’t? Oh, crap. That, too. We are FanGraph busters. They must be so pissed at the Cubs. So your issue is that you don't understand how Fangraphs projections work? I'm either failing to see what your issue with Fangraphs is or you're being Schwarber Fan levels of meatbally here.
  17. Glad we play before Brewers-Cards on Fri and Sat. If the Cubs win, I’ll probably root for Milwaukee. If we lose then I root for St Louis. Ideal scenario for me is the Cubs sweep the Pirates and the other series goes 2-1.
  18. Because of past year when we were between 90 and 95% to win the division at the end of August and didn’t?
  19. Looks like I was a day off on picking which two days our offense wouldn't show up. We're scoring like 3 tomorrow also.
  20. LOL Cubs. Didn't know they brought Zobrist in to pitch.
  21. Nice horsefeathering throw, Hamels. Just eat that one and keep the guy on first you dope.
  22. Probably should have just sent Rizzo on KB’s flyout.
