  1. You might have too much faith in professional sports. Yeah, if he somehow manages to not get much jail time (hopefully hugely unlikely), I honestly would be kinda stunned if some team didn't sign him given how good he's been, unfortunately. horsefeathers, I wish I could say for sure I'd think the Cubs would never do such a thing, but... I’d be surprised if a team signed him. The kid from Oregon State would have been a top pick in the draft a couple years ago but didn’t even get drafted due to child molestation when he was 15.
  2. Haven’t done it often this year but that was some nice Screw the Closer work by the Cubs.
  3. Well it had been like 4 PAs since he’d doubled so I guess he was due.
  4. I think the Padres get 1 or 2 games in this series, Reds and Rockies both take at least 1 from them too. IIRC, the Padres had their worst starter of the 4 going today.
  5. Yeah, depending on exactly how long he’s out, it seems like Jesse heard “likely season ending” and implied it was some terrible injury when season ending is 2 weeks. Of course, it is our medical staff so who the hell knows.
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] So maybe just 2-3 weeks?
  7. With our medical staff, even amputation can’t be ruled out at this point.
  8. For context: Suarez' 2019 stats: .271/.350/.580/.930, 47 HR 100 RBI (611 PAs) Suarez' 2019 vCubs: .381/.423/.825/1.248, 8 HR 19 RBI (71 PAs) This reminded me of something. I think they mentioned it during the broadcast yesterday but I looked up the full numbers. The Cubs, as a team, for the three game set over the weekend hit .419/.496/.872/1.368.
  9. Mets lose so they’re 4 back of us and the Phillies are 4.5 back with a game in hand. So barring one of those two getting really hot (Mets do play Col, Cin, Mia and Atl so they could) the WC will come down to whichever two NLC teams don’t win the division and the Nats.
  10. Well that’s good news. Light Gausman up tomorrow.
  11. Of course it did, we were a couple games up still at this point. My post was more in reference to the chances of the Brewers winning the division. They’ve got a much better chance of making the playoffs though. Part of that is the same reason it’s unlikely they win the division. All they have to do is catch one team to make the WC so those 7 H2H games between the Cubs and Cards, plus the Cards-Nats series means 10 losses total for those three teams. So while they probably have to go at least 10-3 to win the division, 8-5 might be good enough to get them a WC.
  12. Brewers load the bases with one out. Moustakas and Braun coming up.
  13. Brewers were never winning that series, so I’m good with it. Opening up a little breathing room is important without Rizz being out. Hopefully we take care of the Reds and the Nats horses shut down the Cards. Neither team sweeping was all that mattered to me.
  14. Walk and a homer and the Brewers blow the lead.
