  1. On June 1, the Nats has the same number of losses as the Tigers. Nats did have two more wins though.
  2. This has been quite an enjoyable game.
  3. Prior is the new Dodger pitching coach. Honeycutt is being reassigned to a special assistant role.
  4. That's for sure. Two wrongs don't make a right, but Sanchez should have struck out on the previous pitch so I don't feel bad for him on the next pitch.
  5. Even Schwarber fan thinks that’s nuts. They were flipping out after Game 3 of the NLDS also. I mean, I know you want your team to win in the playoffs and weird stuff can happen, but you’re kind of playing with house money at this point. Just be happy your team got in and won a series against a better team.
  6. Nice play Taylor. Good thing Washington got those insurance runs.
  7. Seriously. South Carolina should have gone for it on 4th and 3 rather than try a 58 yard FG at the end of regulation. Then in the second OT they go for it on 4th and 1 rather than try the FG (they got it but kicked a FG later in the drive). Then at the end of the first OT, they try to center the ball rather than go for the first down on 3rd and 3. I know it was only a 33 yarder but you need to go for the first down. And why at the end of regulation didn’t Georgia call timeout when Carolina was at 2nd and long from midfield then 3rd and long? They would have had plenty of time to drive down the field for a better shot. I thought South Carolina calling a timeout after their first down play was strange also. It's now 2nd and 12 from midfield and there's 1:26 left. Either you let the clock run a bit (not necessarily running the play clock all the way down) or you make Georgia use a timeout. You've got plenty of time even if you snap the next play at 1:00 to 1:05 or so because before that, they had all three timeouts. The last thing you want is to give Georgia time to drive down and tie/win the game (which they almost did).
  8. EDIT: I liked them going for it on 4th and 1 in the second OT, just thought it was funny they’d rather try a 57 yarder with a kid whose career long (I think) was 49 instead of go for a 4th and 3 and then go for it in OT.
  9. As great as it would be to see the Cards get no hit in the playoffs, I'm kind of glad he gave up a hit because it's a 2-run game and we didn't need Martinez to be tempted to leave him in against the top of the order just because he's got a no hitter.
  10. This just means Schilling has no interest of getting back into baseball.
  11. Cardinals went 5-2 against them this year, including 3 of 4 at home and have home field advantage. With Anibal Sanchez starting game 1. This won't be a cakewalk. Especially since it'll set up where Wainwright only pitches at home. Cardinals beat Scherzer twice this year. cardinals were 2-4 against the barves in the regular season The Cubs were 8-11 against the Cardinals and 7-0 against the Mets in 2015.
  12. It was an absolutely stupid decision to bring him in (or any starter) when you have actual functioning, good relief pitchers who only need to get 7 outs. That said, Kershaw had 5.2 scoreless playoff relief innings (all in deciding games) before tonight. I still can’t believe he left Joe Kelly in for a second inning and then brought in Jansen when they were down 4.
  13. Fangraphs has Corbin-Scherzer-Strasburg in their playoff odds right now, but I don't think it's been announced. Wouldn't be surprised if Sanchez gets game one considering Corbin pitched more than an inning out of the pen last night. Corbin only threw 22 pitches so I bet he starts Game 1. Then you’ve got Scherzer on normal rest in Game 2 and the same for Strasburg in Game 3.
  14. Yep. Like you use him then? Not to start the 10th. You let Kelly go his second inning against the heart of the order?
  15. I can't believe that's from an Oakland station also. Thought for sure that was going to be from or near St. Louis.
  16. If the Braves passed on drilling Flaherty so they can drill Molina instead, I’m fine with that.
  17. Acuna got plunked. Can’t wait to see which Cardinal gets drilled because you know it’s happening.
  18. Guess they’re fine with Flaherty going G3 and G7.
  19. No, but I think if they keep adding on it could be three innings and then a bullpen game. Even with a bullpen game, would they really bring him back for Game 1? I guess it sets you up to have him start 1 and 5 and be available out of the pen in 7 if it goes that far so there would be some value in doing Game 1 rather than Game 2.
  20. LOL Braves. Guess I’m rooting for the Dodgers tonight.
  21. I have no idea why Houston trotted Verlander out on short rest. No kidding. Starting him on short rest is a bad idea on its own but when you add in screwing up the rotation for the next series it’s even worse. Does it screw them up for next series (assuming no lingering problems from starting on short rest)? If they don't use either Verlander or Greinke in Game 5, they've got Greinke on normal rest in Game 1 and Verlander on normal rest in Game 2. Then Cole would be on normal rest in Game 3. Obviously this could change if they decide to use either in Game 5.
  22. My god please plunk the horsefeathers out of him his first at bat. Mr respect the game He also threw his helmet and did a throat slash. My dream is for Acuna to hit a walk off homer off Martinez tomorrow and take 5 minutes to round the bases.
  23. Cards blow the lead. 3-1 Braves in the 9th!
