You want this team to fail. I get it. You wanted the same thing last year also. I do believe in this team and think they’re going through a rough stretch. Does that mean they will be fine? Of course not. But yes, I do think they’re a good team. Regardless of what I think about them, you implying a 5-6 game deficit to the Brewers is insurmountable is absurd. I didn't say it was insurmountable. You implied that it would be no big deal because past teams did it, and I pointed out the problem with that thinking. This is after you moved the goal posts from when you previously said the brewers schedule didnt matter and that they wouldnt pull ahead of the cubs. I get it, I whine in game threads a lot. but right now the organization really isnt in a very good spot going forward, so maybe you should accept that. I understand that we should be thankful for what the Cubs have done in the last 5 years, but the actions of the organization in the last couple years dont warrant your defense. they should be criticized heavily for what they're doing. Sorry for misinterpreting your predictably overly pessimistic post as you saying the Cubs wouldn't be able to overturn a 5-6 game deficit, even though I'm sure you believe it. The reason for my response, which you clearly didn't understand, was that the Cubs have literally already come back from 5.5 games back to take first place this season. And they did it within a month. Where did I say they definitely 100% wouldn’t pull in front of the Cubs? I might have said I didn’t believe they would or predicted it wouldn't happen, but that’s different from me saying the Brewers have no chance to do so. As for the schedule, I never said that it didn't matter. I'm guessing you're remembering this post where I simply said that their schedule until the All-Star wasn't that much easier than ours. Since then the Brewers haven't been impressive. They lost series to Atlanta and Philly, split with Minnesota and Cincy and beat Pittsburgh 3 of 4. They caught us because we're currently playing like crap, though also against generally decent to good teams. On a related note, it's good to see you understand what "moving the goalposts" means about as well as you understand how in season team win total projections work. The Cubs have won 90+ games and made the playoffs four straight years and, even after this slump, are still on pace to win 88, which means they're a good week from being on pace to win 90+ again. As for going forward? I understand the frustration that we're not the Astros right now. I think we all harbored visions of running off high 90's to low 100's wins like they are for a few years after what we did in 2015 and 2016. But there are a bunch of teams that are in a worse spot going forward. We still have a decent amount of talent and ownership is still willing to run a $200M payroll. As for looking more than like 2 years in the future for projecting, I don't think there's much of a point in doing that. Things change really quickly. I'm not defending the organization. I'm looking at the team this year and saying they're not nearly as bad as you're making them out to be. If you want to be pessimistic and look at the glass as half empty all the time, be my guest. I prefer to try to be optimistic about things. I don't do it all the time, but it's a much more enjoyable existence.
