They are going to have to figure it out real fast, because I think like 18 of the next 24 are on the road. Or something close to that. What’s their record on the road since the stupid 1-8 start or whatever? I’m guessing things even out a bit soon, they aren’t this bad on the road or just inherently bad there. It’s a dumb random sample. Found it: They are 17-20 on the road taking out the crazy start, that’s more like it. Sweep a series or win multiple series on a trip and it’s basically back in line with where it should be outside the first trip. You can't just take out 9 games against three teams at or over .500 just because they were at the beginning of the season. Sure it seems fluky but they're also under .500 the rest of the time on the road, even excluding that. They're 18-28 on the year and were 2-7 on that trip. Give them 4-5 instead and that's still only 20-26. That's bad for a team that wants to make the playoffs. Unless I'm missing one, they've won 4 of 15 road series and two of those were against Seattle and Miami. The other two were Washington and Arizona. They haven't won a road series in 2 months. This team has done nothing to make us think they're actually capable of sweeping a road series or winning multiple road series on a trip. Even at home, they've shown no ability to put together a win streak. They've won 4 straight games as many times as the Marlins this year. We're 100 games into the season and the Cubs are on pace for 87.5 wins. It's very likely this is just who they are. They're capable of great things on a given day and they're capable of crap on a given day. That doesn't mean they won't get hot and pull away, but there's no indication from what they've done over the first 3 1/2 months of the year that they will.
