  1. I know they have Quentin and Upton schedule for their future OF, but why would they trade a young, quite possibly very good OF prospect, for a pitching like Maddux, who is doing his best Glendon Rusch impersonation? We be luck to get Jeff Devanon for Maddux.
  2. Yeah but that comparison was relative to Travis Snider. When JP Riccardi is linked to a HS hitter in the first round, you know damn sure he has plus patience. Yeah, and it can be a smokescreen. You can't based your decision on what another GM might do. If the Cubs like SNider when he is available, and is the best prospect on the board, then they should take him, if they like Rowell, take him. Don't take Snider, because another GM potentially likes him.
  3. He did take a gamble on Clanton...of course, that really didn't work out too well. And Christiensen. My guess is Hendry will pass on Drabeck.
  4. But dude, he was being aggressive. Can't fault kid for being aggressive. at Baker and Cline for setting back Murton's development because they wanted him to be "overly aggressive." Murton needs to develop "selective hearing" and go back to what he has done well. Go back and listen to what the coaches taught you at GTech, cause they are real coaches. It could just be a slump. Even patient hitters have them. He'll find his plate discipline again. With Clines/Baker coaching him? Are you SERIOUS?
  5. First: I know sweeping the Cards in St. Lou would have given the Cubs like a serious momentum boost, but taking the series, I believe does the same thing....hopefully. The Cards offense, is going to be pretty much crappy without Pujols, and they know. Today they found a BP pitcher they liked in Maddux. But I am going to say...the Cards are going to have a similar June to the Cubs May. May not be as bad, but I could easily see the Cubs making up 6 games in June. If the Cubs want it. Second: Carlos Marmol, what can be said about the kid. He reminds me of Frankie Rodriguez. He has the same kind of spunk, fearless and devastating stuff. I think he will be with the Cubs, but a stint in AAA, until they moved either Novoa or Williamson, is prolly what's going to happen. But the Cubs need to have Marmlo focusing on either starting or relieving. Don't pull the crap they did on Zambrano earlier in his career, with Marmol. You want Marmol start, start him. You want to relieve, relieve. Don't bounce him around. Third: I don't blame Murton, per se, he is a nice enough kid, and he is going ot "respect his elders", but dang, Murton definately needs to developed "selective hearing" and go back to his style of hitting that made him succesful. It's obviously Baker/Cline has NO CLUE about how to teach hitting, so they are making up crap as they go along.

  7. Considering Marmol has more options then Aardsma at this point, I suspect Marmol will be th eone to go down when Williamson come back. BUT, if Marmol can pitch well during this stint, it wouldn't surprise me if the Cubs move Williamson to a team that needs help in the bullpen, ahemGiantsahem.
  8. The problem with that theory is that everybody now knows the Cards are desparate for offensive help with Edmonds/Pujols out for a period time. Just like everybody knew the Cubs were deaparate when Lee was out. So, my guess any significant offensive player the Cards might be interested in, either Wainwright or Reyes will be the first name out mouth by the other team.
  9. No it doesn't. It's well-worth seeing AJ get "punk'd." Not when it involves one of our two (currently, icluding Jock) consistent hitters. You just know he's going to struggle once he comes back from it. So in effect it may turn out ot be a 14-17 game suspension, not what this team needs right now. I loved the fact the jerk got what was coming to him, but it's not worth losing Barrett for 10 days over it. If only it was Neifi, Pierre, or someone else as worhtless who had popped him I'm not worrying about what will happen tomorrow---in reference when Barrett's suspension will be officially annouced---I just love the fact he punch that loser. A suspension or the gratitude of just about 85% of his baseball peers, and fans? Hmm....tough choice...
  10. No it doesn't. It's well-worth seeing AJ get "punk'd."
  11. Isn't that how he always looks? No, most of the time he looks constipated. Today he looks pissed.
  12. When I first this, the image I had was the Cubs lining up together and doing "the bunny hop." shudders, help me............. :)
  13. Glendon is at least 2 years older than him you know   Point of correction...Rusch is a mere 5 MONTHS older then Rolen. (NBC's "The More You Know" theme plays) :D OWNED! Rented, is more like it...

  15. La Russa can cure cancer. Rolen disable a nuclear reactor overload in 20 seconds. ala MacGyver.
  16. That should make Blanco mad. You wouldn't like it Blanco is mad.
  17. Because he doesn't know what a manifold is? (The 70S Show reference, btw)
  18. I'm voting he is going to hit a homer, preferably Joe Buck or McCardinal.
  19. Agreed.. -------------------- On the interleague: Get rid of it. Baseball has gotten all of the "fantasy matchups" already played out. We've already seen the Cubs .v. NYY and Bos, Cards .v. NYY/Bost, LAD .v. NYY, them we had some PAST World Series foes have their "rematch  ". The interleague is no longer a novelty iteam. I would prefer to drop the interleague portion of the schedule, and use those play more games against NL West, NL East. I'm am sick of seeing the "Tiger/Rockies, DRays/Astros" type games. Get rid of interleague.
  20. What's that.....rear back and throw 100 MPH?
  21. If you are tired about all of theses "double switches", wait till he invents that "Triple Switches."
  22. I hear they got this Matt Karchner kid, light's out closer. Let's send them this youngin' George Bell for him.
  23. Ok guys, you happy....This game was short.... I could had gone for another 4 or 5 innings. Oh well, a short game is better then a no-game.
  24. With the way the Cubs have used their pitchers recently, it wouldn't surprise is they bring back "The Well" for a 2nd stint.
  25. I suspect NEITHER will be available. And the statement that Wood/Prior are worth nothing but B prospects, maybe C prospects....is nothing but postering hoping to cause panic with Hendry. If B/C prospects are the only kid of prospects Cubs could get for either, then keep Wood/Prior, since they are more valuable to the Cubs then to other teams.
