  1. Prolly, "man he can steal 2nd, why can't I?"
  2. Let's not forget Hendry in the mess. Hendry knew he couldn't count on Wood and Prior to stay healthy, and YET the only thing he did to address the starting rotation is re-signing Glendon "Two Ton" Rusch. All I know is you know the famous pictures of three monkeys (you know the one with one monkey covering his eyes, one covering his ears, and one covering his mouth): MacPhail: Hear no evil. Hendry: See no Evil (not the movie) Baker: Speak no Evil And the Cubs would not be worthy of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog of "pooping" on them,
  3. You guys are no fun. Where's Andres Galaragga? Or Marvin Bernard? Or Armando Benitez? I mean....come on dude.....old people deserves playing time, too.
  4. Yes. No matter how you slice it drafting Colvin was pretty much a waste. Wow. I understand we reached for him, but give the kid a couple years before you call him a "waste." Agreed. He was STILL considered a 1st rd guy. So, if for nothing else, he went about 15 picks before he should have gone. But Tyler Colvin, will be a very good player for the Cubs.
  5. I don't think Guillen would be pronouncing "Cardinals" correctly. He'd prolly be calling them, what he call Jay Mariotti.
  6. If you want horses, go and coach the Noo Yawk Yawnkees, or perhaps the Bastan Red Sachs. In Chicago you have to learn to coach colts, pony, and mules. is he telling us he's superman with that last one? i'm confused. No, he's telling you his "Lex Luthor," cause his team is definately the "Legion of Doom."
  7. You say "Len and Bob suck" yet, you like Thom Brenneman, who, IMO, was widely consider the worst broadcaster in Cubs history...right there with Losh Lewin. Len and Bob, is prolly the best tandem WGN could had gotten (even tho, they wanted Dan O'Brien). Only problem is...Len and Bob will prolly be fired after the season, and replace with Joe Carter and Josh Lewin.
  8. I personally believe that Baker has a laundry list of "excuses" taped to his door. That way it saves him from having to think after the games.
  9. So within the last 5 yrs, TLR and the Cards have accused the Cubs, the Red Sox, AND the White Sox of cheating? Am I correct? Man, is it me or has the Cards become a VERY PARANOID franchise? Everybody is OUT to get the Cardinals according to Tony. My MONEY is on Tony LaRussa being the "Cardinal source."
  10. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/the-real-chase I mean, forget Bonds chasing Aaraon, we have Perez chasing Ski Melillo for WORST player in MLB history. With Baker at the helm, he has a chance. Go Nefti, go after history, like you go after curveballs in the dirt.
  11. I just found an old Sprts Illustrated(THE CURSE LIVES) that has a cover story of Wood and Prior. On the front cover it has Wood/Prior with close ups, with the caption of "Chicago Heat." My question is....."should I throw the magazine away?"
  12. Fixed! Fixed. (SCREAMS LOUDLY)
  13. Fixed Fundamentals? :-k What's that?
  14. No way dude. I don't care that the Cubs arep ushing 20 games under .500 and 14 games behind the division leader, this is the team that is still "in it to win it." v (END sarcasm) Do ANYBODY actually see Hendry pull a "clean house" tatic? If you do, pass whatever you have around the table.
  15. I'm pretty sure they skipped Prior because a) they didnt want to pay the 10 million dollar signing bonus and b) Joe Mauer was the golden boy from St. Paul. If this were an alternate universe, Prior would be on the way to his 3rd Cy Young, and his second straight 300k season. But we have Dusty and Larry and Jimmy. They still had to pony up a very good deal for Mauer to sign with them. Remember Joe Mauer had a FOOTBALL SCHLARSHIP to be the QB for Bobby at Florida St. So they still had to convince Joe to sign. Wasn't necessarily hard, but still necessarily.
  16. Free Pauly Shores to everybody....whoo-eee I rather listen to Mariah Carey "attempt" to sign (she can't, but she can attempt), I rather see Louie Anderson and Richard Simmons "Do the hustle," I would rather see Paris Hilton hold a "real job," (she sucks at everything.... ) Then watch the Cubs play cricket, I mean baseball. And that makes me sad.
  17. When "crappy sites" lie mlbtraderumors makes a comment like the bolded.....you know it is time for an organization change. And oh yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if the Cubs acquired Feliz
  18. who cares? the fact is, he put up a 3.11 era and a k per inning out of kc's pen last year at the age of 22 and the cubs got NOTHING for him. i don't know how you can defend that. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=7470 Who cares what Sisco did LAST yr. This yr, he has been MISERABLE. He is a headcase, that will be nothing more then a average middle reliever. But hey...Sisco and Rauch can tryout for the Bulls, since they both have size. Neither can pitch effectively, but hey let's see what they can do on the basketball court. Fact is...Sisco is prolly not going to amount to much in MLB, and to think they could have gotten something reasonably for Sisco, is foolhardy.
  19. I want an offense that scores runs. I don't care how. And I want an offense who can score runs, CONSISTANTLY.
  20. So you want to send down a kid to work on control, and call up another kid who has control problems at the major league levels? :-k Keep the kid, until he pitches his way out of the rotation. I like Hill, but Marmol, is a kid that gives the Cubs a better chance at winning.
  21. Just as long as he doesn't treat him like he treated this guy: http://www.themodernapprentice.com/osprey.jpg Isn't that Montgomery Burns?
  22. Thank you. Jered Weaver under control for six years or possibly losing Aramis for nothing at season's end? hmmm.... If we are going to analyze it like this, shouldn't we assume that the Angels would need to look at it like that also? Why would they trade Weaver for a guy who could opt out of his contract at the end of this year? Thank you for adding some sanity. =D> To the proponents of a Weaver/Ramirez deal, how can any of you believe the Angels WOULD even consider offering Weaver for Ramirez? Best guess...the Angels would prolly offer Saunders and perhaps MacPherson (who the Cubs don't need) instead of Weaver. In other words...Jered is a PIPEDREAM.
  23. No offense, but I am NOT enamored with Carlos Lee. I mean if we go after Carlos, that would mean the Cubs are subscribing to the "mashers" theory again, and I don't want an offense to be built around the three run homerun. I want an offense, that can do it all. Hit for average/power, can run, can play both small and long ball. I haven't given up on Murton, and I believe he will still be a very good player.
  24. For free? Now that ain't right! Thanks for all the comments. I'll keep after 'em. I understand all the arguments against Carlos Lee. I wanted to throw a name out there. Somebody wanted to know, "Why not write this after the Detroit series?" When you have an off-day in the schedule, that gives you a better opportunity to come up with a feature or an analysis or a column. With space in the paper being so tight on game days, this provided the better opportunity. I WILL have to hire some of you guys as assistants when I take over the Cubs. LOL. No offense Bruce...but I'm a couple hundred miles outside your circulation area. Let me know if you ever start writing for the Newark Star Ledger. No offense, thedaymen, but Cubs fans need Bruce to stay in Chicago, and keep after the Cubs.
