  1. Harold Reynolds was a very good analyst for BBTN, and those who don't seem to like him, prolly don't like analysts, anyway, and they were going to hate on Reyonlds, regardless. Something nasty must be happening at Bristol, right now.
  2. And if he was, he would be hitting like Corey Patterson did for us. No he wouldn't. He'd still be a AA, cause the majors don't have a "book" on Quentin, thus Quentin doesn't have a "book" on ML pitching. And after all the bs, Quentin would still be in the minors, simply because is trying to win with below-average crappy veterans, over above-average, young studs.
  3. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-060724rogers,1,4562475.column?coll=cs-home-utility The OH-SO-GREAT Phil Rogers is now reporting the deal is Scott Podsenick and prospects (better be the White Sox Top 5 PROSPECTS in the org) for Soriano. I can't see Washington wanting Podsenick (when they have Ryan Church who is BETTER then Podsenick) in the deal. This sounds like wishful thinking. But right now, I don't think ChiSox has THAT much interests in Soriano, per se, I think they are trying to put pressure on an AL rival to overpay for Soriano.
  4. I guess Jacque Jones and ARAM were traded to the Yankees for AROD. Is it me or has Miguel Negron played better since coming to the Cubs? I know, I know he may not be as special as when he was drafted, but he is still 23 yrs, and could definately turned into a Juan Rivera type player in the pros. Or is this wishful thinking?
  5. My guess is...it wouldn't be a "rental." Williams would try and re-sign him in the offseason, especially if he has to give up Brandon McCarthy, Josh Fields, and/or Jerry OWens.
  6. First: Regardless of Williams personaly mantra of NOT trading anybody off the major league level, he WILL have to trade McCarthy, or he doesn' get Soriano, that simple. Contrary to popular belief the Nationals are still "in sight" of the Wild Card, and they won't trade Soriano the players they get---ie McCarthy---can help them in 06 and beyond. If Williams can't do that, Soriano will end up in Minnesota, which would piss Williams off. Second: Even if Soriano goes to the White Sox, why would people assume Soriano would guarantee a World Series title for the Sox? The White Sox are 7 and 1/2 games back of Detroit, and anywhere from a 1 to like 4-5 games up on New York/Toronto/AL West runner up/Minny. Right now...White Sox are not EVEN guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, much less the World Series. Third: Soriano is still the overrated/overhyped player he always has been. The difference this yr is....he actually using his "tools" instead of relying onhis athlethicism.
  7. If it has anything to do with "flute" or an "apple pie", we don't want to hear about it, vance.....
  8. What is Ozziedent going to do, if none of those seven players show up for "bunt camp?" Is he going to scream at them in front of the team, and call them a homosexual slur? Or walk up to the said players and punch them in the face. Let's face....Baker's alot of things, but Guillen, is a mental lunatic who needs to be kicked to the curb, until he works out his problems, if ever. It wouldn't surprise if Guillen is fired after the season, WHEN the White Sox miss the playoffs. He has simply lost it, and he is a black eye to the White Sox.
  9. Agreed. He can play all three OF positions, atleast moderately well. Has some pop, and that also seems to help. I mean if Terrance Long can keep a job at the major league level, then I'm sure Nic Jackson will find a job soon, too.
  10. Roberts, I MIGHT be interested in depending the $$$. But I do NOT adovcate Jones in CF. I know he can play it, but considering Jones ahs played like Moises Alou in right, I don't want to see him having to cover CF. Personally, I would like the Cubs to move Jacque to LEFT field, and get a LEGITIMATE RFer.
  11. I used to think that to, oldstyle, but now, I am ALMOST positive that Pierre will be back for atleast two yrs. A couple of reasons: 1: Felix Pie has showned he hasn't conquer AAA, which means he ain't ready for the Majors. And there really no other OF prospect ready to make the jump, outside of maybe......Chris Walker? 2: The OF free agency core isn't exactly STRONG. Edmonds could lead the pack (club option, I believe will be decline), and the best option of Edmonds is Jose Guillen. Sheffield's too old. Roberts is Pierre with some pop, but older. And that's about it. My guess is....Pierre stays and signs a 2 yr deal for roughly the amount he made this yr. Pierre stays, because there really is no other STRONG candidate to replace in CF. Pierre stays.
  12. People who are jumping on the fact that ARam is NOW starting to hit like we know he can, needs to get off their high horse and blame the WHOLE FRIGGIN' TEAM, not just ARam. Guys this thread was credited because somebody was nitpicking just to rant. That is a product of a BAD team, in a BAD SEASON. In this kind of season, fans/media are going to nitpick at everything that goes wrong. There WAS NOTHING wrong with what ARam said, and I doubt his teammates felt insulted. If they did, maybe they should had played better, when they have the chance.
  13. You were smart to switch the channel. they sucked!!! Can we for the life of the baseball gawd, please FAST FORWARD this season to the end. This blows.
  14. And RFK is not considered a good hitter's park, either. Right now, it prolly doesn't mattter which park they play in, Mr. Contract Year Soriano is going to prolly put up outstanding numbers.
  15. Nobody. Teams DON'T usually TRADE for pitchers like Dempster already SIGN an extension. My guess is Milwaukee would be more interested in Scott Williamson then Dempster. And Corey Hart would be about right. not only that..... but teams dont usually trade in the divison for pitching during a pennate race. You see, normally that would apply, but considering the fact that Cubs are out of it, and the Brewers are still in it, it would be a mistake if Hendry doesn't consider moving Williamsnon/Dempster even to a division rival, if the trade helps you long-term. I remember the Cubs moving Tom Gordon to the Astros and Jeff Fassero (lol hahaha at that trade) to the Cardinals. So, it's not out of the realm.
  16. Agreed. The Marlins have said they WANT to build around Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera for the foreseeable future. Rather that future is in South Florida (doubtful) or at a new location (most likely), the Marlins would be WISER to keep Dontrelle, and not run off the little fan support they do have. This is just wishful thinking on the Cardinals part, cause they are SO DESPARATE for pitching. Disagreed. They have no fan base, and they won't be paying both of these guys next year. Dontrelle mania is over. And if WS titles can't woo the crowd, Willis and Cabrera won't. If they move before next season, maybe they hold on. But I'm almost positive at least one will be traded by next season. DW can make $7-8m next year and MC could make $5-6 easily. I don't see them tying that much into 2 guys when it would pretty much match this year's entire payroll. Disagreed, Goony. They do have a fan base, but said fan base is abit on the bitter side, because EVERYTIME they would come out and support a winner, a firesale is looming very soon. It's the "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" theory. If the Marlins could get a long-term leasing, and a NEW staiudm, the fan base would come out of hiding. It doesn't help that in the short term of the franchise, the Marlins had a couple of owners, who wasn't EXACTLY thinking of the long-term stability of the club. If they did, maybe people would know that the Marlins have a fan base.
  17. Insteado Betemit, whom the Braves (once did get in trouble for signing him illegally, mind you) absolutely love. My guess is..ATL would rather trade Giles or Renteria to free up a spot, instead of moving Betemit. What I am saying is...Betemit ain't coming for anything less then say a very good young pitcher...like a Marshall or a Marmol, and I WOULDN'T do it. How about Jarrod Saltalamacchia? I know he's struggling, but I believe this is time to buy low for Hendry, and see if you can pick him up cheap. I mean, I would do a Langerhans and Salty deal for Maddux, any which way you desire.
  18. Nobody. Teams DON'T usually TRADE for pitchers like Dempster already SIGN an extension. My guess is Milwaukee would be more interested in Scott Williamson then Dempster. And Corey Hart would be about right.
  20. If he wants to kid around with Dick Pole, can't he just make fun of his name? Because the type of jokes that revolve around Dick Pole are pretty much juvenile, sophomoric/fraternity type jokes. And I don't see Maddux as pulling a rowdy joke like that. Signing the baseball of his 200th loss, sounds like the kind of joke, Greg would pull.
  21. you're just a stick in the mud, hardcore. 8) It was a joke, ok. Nothing more, nothing less. And I am VERY POSITIVE that Maddux and Pole laugh it off as a joke.
  22. Ok, thx. With leadership like like Baker, who needs championships?
  23. Ok, thx. With leadership like like Baker, who needs championships?
  24. Bingo. They should have shipped Sisco back to the minors and let him work on being a starter, where he was most valuable. The Cubs were idiots not for letting him go, but instead for letting him go in exchange for nothing. Sisco was still a highly rated prospect when they let him go (despite weight/motivation/production issues) and could have gotten something in return in a trade. Who says the Cubs couldn't had gotten fair value for Sisco? We all assume that just because Hendry left him unprotected, doesn't he he didn't try and trade him. Maybe alot of people in baseball, didn't see much in Sisco, despite the 6'9. I like to look at it this way...the Cubs dealt Andy Sisco for Angel Guzman. I'm stretching it to a limit, but hey....we got Guzman from the Royals "trash-heap" and they got Andy Sisco from our "trash-heap." so lets call it even, and stop saying Sisco had value, cause of right now, Sisco has no value WHATSOEVER.
  25. I heard that too. that makes no damn sense. I remember criticizing Jocketty for getting Rolen when the Cards needed pitching to put them over the top, but this trade takes that similar theory to it's absolute extreme. not only do the Mets get a guy they really don't need (don't forget Floyd is really heating up too), they add a ton of payroll and gets rid of a potentially great player (Jocketty didn't go that far). all of the rumors I have heard the past couple of days make no damn sense. then again, the one trade that went down (Nats-Reds) made no damn sense either. maybe Hendry is playing the Mets against the Dodgers for Maddux, and this is the Mets posturing to gain some leverage in that situation? either Ethier or Milledge coming our way? hey, I can dream, can't I? You think Hendry is smart enough to pit one team against the other, in the persuit of a mediocre starting pitching? I love Maddux, and he is a HOF, but any team---in this case LA and NY---an Andre Ethier or a Lastings Milledge (shades of Kazmir for V. Zambrano ringing loud in NY, perhaps?) should be laugh at. I take a solid package of Willy Aybar and Joel Hanrahan/Jonathon Broxton for Maddux right now, tho.
