  1. I smell extensions. (and I smell something else, ....what's that smell?
  2. CONFOUND IT JIM! JUST GIVE THEM THEIR DOUGH AND TELL THEM TO PACK THEIR BAGS! Watch the mouth...er..fingers..er..whatever plz. I have innocent eyes. You've watch the Cubs all year, so I believe you have no "innocent eyes."
  3. I have less faith then you YoDC.
  4. Yeah, I am. I prolly go for the games on Sunday and Monday, tho.
  5. Sorry about quoting the pictures, guys.. #-o Great picks.....all I have is going to Turner Field. Maybe one day, I will fulfilled my dream of going to Wrigley. But oh welll.
  6. Awww...I remember the series in which the Rockies scored in I believe 10 straight innings against the Cubs. Good times....
  7. I think Mark Teahen could be available (with Butler/Gordon waiting in the wings) and he FITS into what the Cubs are trying to accomplice...swing, swing, and more swing. Other guys could include....Ty Wigginton, Brendan Harris ( 8) , those type third baseman could be had, for stopgap purposes.
  8. I don't know if too many people know who Angel Pagan is, and what was his scouting report is, considering he was with the Mets before this yr. http://www.all-baseball.com/cubreporter/archives/021680.html
  9. I like to nominate "Homer Simpson" as the nickname for Glendon Rusch.

  11. I, for one, fully believe that Stony is full of it, when it comes to contract status. My guess is...there was AN OFFER ON THE TABLE, but due to the crappiness the Cubs have shown, Hendry had to pull the offer off the table, until the storm calm down. And since the storm hasn't calm down, my guess is...any extension Baker may have gotten, is no longer an option. My guess with his "recent managerial contreversies" (falling asleep in the dugout, not arguing a close call, etc, etc) Baker is resign to the fact, that his tenure is nearly over in Chicago. My guess is....Baker doesn't managed this team, when the 2nd half (OH GAWD, there's still another half...puke) begins.
  12. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump YOU'RE FIRED, Cubs fans....... :-k That would be a GOOD thing. Nevermind....you are unfired....
  13. Come on, dude....can't you let us have a glimmer of hope among the gloom and doom. Stop being a party-pooper. Let's go Sachs. Let's go White Sachs....(for the one-time only rooting for the Sachs.)
  14. I'll go with Gene Clines by ASB.
  15. When you don't work as often as a closer is needing to be worked, you struggle.
  16. Carl Crawford is nice, but I rather keep Marmol and Marshall. Now, when Pawelek, and Veal are ready...maybe rethink the idea, but right now, I would hold onto any young, and cheap pitcher, with both hands.
  17. Do you honestly think that Hendry/Baker/Management didn't know the fans were upset with this team, until they decided to throw garbage on the field? Honestly, use a little logic. It's not like they don't know the fans are upset. It's not like they aren't just as upset themselves. It's not like they don't care about winning. Throwing garbage on the field or selling tickets to Sox fans isn't going to make management any smarter. not making them smarter yes, making them look like crap on a national tv broadcast, much better No, they are making Cub fans look like crap. That means they are making ME look like crap. IMO, they are making Cubs fans looked pissed about the product. I have no problem with the fans in stadium throwing trash on the field. They are "other" ideas for showing their displeasure, but this trash-throwing is prolly the safer, and most non-violent idea. This was coming to a head, and sooner or later, the fans were going to let the management know of their feelings. Again, I have no problem, in fact.. about the throwing trash on the field, cause the whole team DESERVE to be trashed.
  18. Not likely for the typical manager, but since Baker is all out trying to save his job by trying to win some meaningless games, then I could see it. I wouldn't make the move. I would keep Howry/Eyre in their roles, and put Williamson in the role.
  19. Can the Cubs make history and score "half a run" today? Find out...as the ultimate in crappiness....takes on the ultimate in greatness.
  20. That is my neck of the woods, and hopefully I get to go. (got the tickets, too)
  21. Adam Dunn would cause GREAT confusion for Dusty and the boys. Good for the Cubs: Adam is the prototype free swinging (on the field, boys) power threat. He's aggressive with the bat. Bad for the Cubs: He's a base clogger. We all know that Baker doesn't like his players to "clog the bases", and that it is call "hitting", and not "walking." The Cubs wouldn't know how to use Dunn properly. My guess if Dunn was on the Cubs...Baker would ask Dunn stop being so "darn patient." No way Dunn delievers even a .350 OBP if he played for the Cubs. SImply no way.
  22. And Pierre will prolly get arb near what he is making right now ($5.5 mill), if not more. And for a "hitter" like Pierre, it doesn't make sense to offer arb to him, knowing there is NO way he is going a deal like he wants. But knowing the Cubs, and their "value chart," (ie Perez, Nefit) they'd prolly re-sign Pierre to a 4 yr $40 million dollar contract, and hold the "speed don't slump" press conference.
  23. A round of contract extensions on the house....
