    Are you guys really going to able to outbid USC for his services? :wink: Well, his parents really want him to go to UCLA, so we obviously outbided USC in that department (Allen himself is supposedly leaning towards USC though :().

    5-star LB/S Allen Bradford is down to USC and UCLA and he visits UCLA Friday. It'd be nice to have a 5-star kid pick UCLA over USC. Hasn't happened since Marcedes Lewis came to UCLA.

    Wow, Chris Young for Javier Vasquez? The DBacks have a glut of young minor league OFs, especially with Young ready by the end of this year too. Can we trade for Quentin or Tracy yet?

    That's not even close to what they supposedly were asking from us. I forget the name of their pitching prospect, but considering Anaheim's superior minor league system, he's probably better than anything the Cubs are offering. Cabrera & Shields are nice pickups too. Anaheim's pitching prospects aren't anywhere near as good as their hitting prospects.

    Would you trade Pie for Huff? If not, why? I'm curious why everyone's gotten the idea that Pie is untouchable. I think that is an equally good question to others that are mad with the Cubs not getting Bradley. Would you trade Pie for Bradley? If the Dodgers were looking for a higher level OF prospect for Bradley, the Cubs were never going to be able to work out a deal. I wouldn't. Of course the A's didn't trade a prospect anywhere near Pie's level.

    Would you trade Pie for Huff? If not, why? I'm curious why everyone's gotten the idea that Pie is untouchable. I wouldn't, because I don't think Huff is that good (based on his declining stats from last year). Would you trade him for anyone outside of a "superstar"? Probably not.

    So I take it Ned Colletti got a cell phone? (For those who don't know, after he had been hired by the Dodgers, the Giants cancelled his cell phone plan and he didn't have another one. He couldn't be contacted during part of the winter meetings.)

    No, see the point is playoff football is different than regular season football. You can get away with winning just with defense in the regular season. But in the postseason you will need your QB to make a play. And that is where the argument for Rex comes from. We know Kyle can't make that play. We don't know if Rex can, but at least he has a chance. Exactly.

    Don't be surprised if we don't see Grossman in a game until '06. If the don't take the risk with Grossman, the Bears likely won't be winning a playoff game.

    The Downtown Athletic Club has just announced that Brady Quinn has been awarded the 2006 Heisman Trophy. *pumps fists* Gets rid of a Heisman AND a national title contender. Pfft, it's a battle for second place after Chase Daniel. Mo Drew disagrees. So does AD. Wow, I totally forgot he existed (and UCLA played OU!). He'd be my #1 candidate for now, ahead of Quinn.
