  1. San Diego, LA, Anaheim, St. Louis and Boston have been mentioned by the media. EDIT: Yes, Anaheim. I still call them that.
  2. Andy got to celebrate his pennant after Game 4, and after Berkman's home run last night. I don't feel sorry for any of them. Did you see the Cardinals' reaction after the game last night? No celebrating. They simply shook hands and headed for the clubhouse. They know that they still have work to do, unlike the Astros after Game 4. That's why the Cards are the best team in baseball. I don't think the best team has yet been decided. At least not for this year. The Cards were the best team in the league this year. The playoffs decides who gets the championship, but it doesn't change the fact that STL was dominant for the regular season. Agreed. The champions aren't always the best team in baseball that year.
  3. Yeah, it's pouring out there. Some of what we've been having the past few days.
  4. SAMMYWHO? and everyone else, drop the race issue and personal attacks.
  5. I hate hate hate a reliever coming in and throwing an IBB to his first batter. Have the previous pitcher do it.
  6. Brinoch, I've heard a few rumors of the Dodgers moving Kent to 1Band looking for another 2B if they can't find a better hitting 1B.
  7. in san diego, i heard that it has something to do with high winds knocking long flies down in left. is there anything to this as well? I remember reading about that in the USA Today when Petco opened. It was in regards to the Santa Anas. Those don't happen that often, BBB is right.
  8. We're not San Diego - Dodger Stadium is 15 miles inland. In the summer (for about 1-2 months of the season), the sea breeze/marine layer never returns so dry night games can be nearly as high scoring as day games. But other than that, I agree.

At least Pujols' shot was a legit one, not a cheesy fly ball ala Berkman last night and Burke in the NLDS. And they say it was 412 feet. That shot was 450 if it was a foot. Maybe the dimensions of Minute Maid Park in the area it was hit limited the measurement to 412 feet. i'm pretty sure the ball was still rising when it hit that concrete wall It was. That was a shot.
  10. But it's not like the Crawford boxes are only there when the Astros are up. The visiting team can also take advantage of the short porch there. Mel Ott hit most of his home runs over a wall that was 275 feet away. Should we take him out of the hall because he probably got a few "cheapies" in his career? It works both ways. There's a difference between making excuses for a loss based on the ballpark, and complaining about the stupidity of the design of the ballpark. It is the same no matter who is batting. But you wouldn't put the fences 150 feet away, or 600 feet away in any new stadium, and it's not because it would be unfair against one team. It's because it's dumb. The short left field porch is a joke. The insane cut-out area in left center is stupid, the center field is pointless. It was a poorly designed ballpark. The stupidest thing of all is that hill.
  11. Reporter Carolyn Hughes, from what Derek's wife has said.
  12. gee, gutsy. who didn't see that coming? Whatever, you wish you had my mad skillzzzzz.
  13. Tomorrow is Angel Guzman Day. Game time is 3:05 CT, click here to find the link to listen to the Mesa game live.
  14. Don't worry the 7th place team in the crappy Big East beat them by 40 points so it should be an easy game for you guys. No game has been easy for UCLA since Rice and SDSU.
  15. I think that anyone can see that the White Sox's success this year is due almost entirely to their lights-out pitching staff. Every pitcher on that team - starters and relievers - has pitched better than expectations (some more drastically than others). I think (read: "hope") Hendry sees this as clearly as we do, and if he does try to emulate the White Sox, it will be their pitching, not their batting, that he goes for. The media folks seem to be saying it's because of small ball.
  16. I'm pretty freaked out about OSU-UCLA, thankfully the game is in Pasadena but still I'm rather worried (OSU went to Berkeley and upset Cal). I'd be sure UCLA would lose if the game was in Corvallis.
  17. 06- Indians. Keep with the AL trend. EDIT: So their WS-victory streak isn't as long as the two Soxes and the White Sox haven't won it all yet, but details... His point was that the three longest WS droughts possibly ending in reverse order. But it's not going to happen. I don't believe in destiny at least where sports are concerned, and I don't think the Cubs will win it all next year, and unless we have a great offseason this year we won't win it in 07 either, making the drought a century. I love this team and I'd never stop being a Cub fan... but... it's just hard sometimes. Like now. I know, it was just my way of noting I didn't think it would be destiny and the Cubs would be next because of that...

  19. I want to laugh at Contreras digging for gold.
  20. These umps better get out of the stadium quickly, with the best of OC's sheriffs/Anaheim PD with them, because their lives are in jeapordy.
  21. Escobar continues to pitch to his one strength - FBs inside part of the plate.
  22. It's going to rain the rest of the way in the game - thankfully it shouldn't be heavy down there.
