  1. Exactly.
  2. INSIDE THE 10!!!!!!!!!
  3. Stanford still has a chance!!!
  4. C'mon, Stanford!!
  5. Watching ND today, I think UCLA would work them. :)
  6. He also doesn't have a big long-term contract or require you to take on Mike Lowell. Better player doesn't necessarily mean that he will require more in a trade. There are plenty of other factors that go into a player's "worth". It also seems to me that teams don't give up elite prospects for a guy who will be a free agent after the season. BTW, Lowell isn't a bum, and I'd look for a big year in Fenway for him. I agree on the Lowell part.
  7. To be honest, this is something I thought about as well when reading the terms of the signing. Think about it, it's one thing to close games in May and June, it's another to close them when the games are of extreme importance. It reminds me of Lidge who, as we all know, was lights out during the regular season yet seemed to crack in the postseason. Who would have really predicted it? Of course, it's yet to be seen how Ryan will perform in "big" games but it's hard to argue that the years and money are not a huge gamble for a guy who's largely untested as a closer. Career postseason ERA of 2.33 - he had 6 scoreless appearances in the 05 postseason and one of those apperances where he was scored upon, he got the save. He started his postseason career with 22.1 IP and just 2 ER (0.81 ERA) before Albert Pujols homered in Game 5 of this year's NLCS. Maybe his arm finally got worn out after being abused the past 3 years?
  8. Really? Which team had a higher payroll during the 90's when the Yankees were on their run? There were several. The Yankees were near the top but not at the top. Jeter Bernie O'neil Posada Brouscus Tino Pettitte These guys were the core of that team and none were that expensive at the time they were winning it all Sorry, not to hijack the thread, but what ever happened to Brocious? He hit like .287 in 1991 when he was 34 years old. You'd have to assume he had more baseball in him, but he never played again. Odd... Do you mean 2001? Yeah, that's what I meant. I thought he retired, not sure though.

  10. 3b last i heard He is playing SS in the Dominican Winter League, apparently. 3B will be kinda crowded since he seems to be advancing through the system at the same rate as LaRoche.
  11. I'm sorry, but we all know this is the best pic of them all: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/Navinda/56419_Alou2564349.jpg
  12. :P I was talking about the MLB's rules in regards to rookies. P.S. I posted that Serena quote first in the mod forum. :P
  13. I'm pretty sure it's 50 IP or 150 ABs. It's 130 ABs, 50 IP or 45 days on an MLB roster.
  14. 1. Felix Pie +10 +10 2. Mark Pawelek +10 +10 3. Rich Hill +10 +7 4. Ronny Cedeno +10 +8 5. Ryan Harvey +10 +6 6. Renyel Pinto 7. Brian Dopirak +10 +7 8. Ricky Nolasco +10 +8 9. Sean Gallagher 10. Sean Marshall +10 +5 I don't think BA likes EPatt or Gallagher much. It was tough to drop out Guzman because BA is slower in dropping top prospects due to injury or poor performance than others. EDIT: Bumped Marshall down 2 spots to 10. 141
  15. Rich threw 23.2 IP last season, which means he's still eligible according to BA. I do wonder about is how BA determines a reliever is no longer a rookie since they ignore time on the big league roster. EDIT: Reading some old chat transcripts from BA, it looks like they go by a case by case situation and they probably will determine Hill is still a prospect. Consider him eligible unless something else comes up.
  16. I was not aware of that, try this on for size: Cubs get: Abreu (13M), Gonzalez(11.5M) + Cash from Dbacks & Phillies Phillies get: Tracy (400k) + Cubs Pitching Prospect Dbacks get: Hill (300k), and Williams (500k) Since the cubs would be taking 24.5 mil in salary, the dbacks & phillies would need to cough up about 5-10 mil combined to make this feasable, which would be possible by cubs trading more prospects. With these 2 bats, we could slide cedeno at SS, Walker at 2B (unless you can upgrade with Castillo), and sign/trade Bradley for CF (depending on the situation). Then Ship Murton to somewhere like Oakland for Zito, along with another pitching prospect. 2B Walker RF Abreu 1B Lee 3B Ramirez LF Gonzalez CF Bradley SS Cedeno C Barrett That lineup could score some runs. I think the DBacks get fleeced in that - Tracy and Gonzalez and money for Hill and Williams? They'll need more than that.
  17. I totally disagree for one simple reason - Perry doesn't take himself 1/10 as seriously as Rogers takes himself. Perry also is pretty smart, I definately don't think he's some sort of goon. Whoever had that Podsednik comment, you're a hypocrite. About 99.999999% of us advocated that Lee for Podsednik trade. Advocated for the Brewers, yes.
  18. http://www.ajc.com/braves/content/sports/braves/1105/24braves.html If this is the case, why not try to resign Nomar? How can anyone justify Alex Gonzalez as Plan B and Neifi Perez as Plan C? At that point, why bother, let Cedeno play and let me enjoy the rest of the Bears season without the illusion that this team might be competitive next season. Sounds a bit like posturing by Cubs officials. And yeah, there is no justifications for not having a backup here.
  19. UCLA comes back but still loses to Memphis in the NIT semifinals. UCLA now faces Drexel.
  20. 70 ABs: .229/.280/.329/.609 15 SO, 4 BB
  21. I'd prefer losing Pinto over losing Marshall or Hill. I'd prefer not trading any of them for Pierre. In fact, I'd prefer not trading anyone for Pierre. Same here. Me three. Though I'd rather trade Hill than the other two (sorry abuck).
  22. Duct tape holds up Dodger Stadium (look under the seats and railings next time you're there).
  23. Sweeney would look fantastic coming off the Cubs bench. Along with Saenz.
  24. I really like Gio Gonzalez, good job by Philly since everyone knew they were going to trade Thome.
