  1. Hopefully Vlad, you know, shows up for this series. Tomorrow evening would be a good time for him to start hitting.
  2. No, she definitely is not Kristin Kreuk. Thank goodness.
  3. No love for the corn? [-X The HR came after the rally monkey was posted too.
  4. This game is depressing enough without you mentioning that trade.
  5. Somehow, I'm not shocked that Bob Marley is Jon Garland's favorite musical artist.
  6. This game sucks. Sorry, I gotta do it: http://www.monkeymatters.com/trellix/rally1.jpg
  7. I'm more interested to see the reaction to a certain White Sox catcher. Since he was the one who made the call in the first place. Get off his tail, it's not his fault the ump messed up. If Barrett made that play, you'd all be lauding it as a great heads up play. Would you be saying the same thing if Bengie did that to the Sox? Shockingly, the Angels appear to have come out flat after the way Game 2 ended.
  8. Wow. The A's front office has to be embarrassed about either a perceived about-face or ineptitude for not getting it signed right away. I would not find this reassuring if I was one of the 20 A's fans in Oakland. :?:
  9. The same way guys like Piazza and Grace went really low. Scouting is an inexact science. Some would say it is not a science at all but an art. There was a good article about Pujols in last week's ESPN the magizine. He was a little pudgy comming out of junior college and I think he had a bad senior year. The article made it seem like he is an even better person than a ball player. It is hard not to like the guy. In all of sports the worst I've ever seen is Dan Marino going in the fifth or six round. Marino went in the first round. It was just late in the first round. My memory was pretty bad there. I think he was like the fourth or fifth quarterback choosen that year. But there were a lot of good QBs in the draft, if my memory is still not bad Yup, 5th QB, but still late first round.
  10. Didn't want to take any attention away from Brady :D Do you think Drew has a chance, at least of getting an invitation? For now, yes, especially if the Bruins finish well - I think Maroney and Vick are staunch competitors for the final invite but Mo can beat them out. It helps that Mo's best game (Cal game) was on national TV.
  11. Eh I don't think they'd have kept him Interesting thought, actually, if the rays had an absolute stud like pujols, what would happen? We may find out soon with Delmon. Speaking as someone who knows very little about the minor leagues (and essentially nothing about minor leaguers in the cubs system you guys don't talk about), you think there's a chance this guy could be a perennial top 3 hitter/top 10 hitter if he's at a premium defensive position? I mean, statistically you can't have people like that more than a couple of times a decade Delmon will play RF, so not a premium defensive position. Pujols is almost a certain hall of fame player if he stays healthy, so I'm not going to predict that kind of success for Delmon. But he's the best hitting prospect in the minors, so it wouldn't suprise me to see him eventually develop into a top 10 offensive force. Right now he doesn't have that kind of plate discipline, though. Time to add him to the list then. Is he expected to make the team next year? Depends on if the ownership/front office want to start his clock towards free agency.
  12. There is a LOT of hate at MLB right now in the area between not giving the Angels a day off after the ALDS and this call. Game 3 should be very entertaining.
  13. I doubt the voters will let Leinart win again unless he's spectacular this season. Bush won't win because of the amount of love LenDale White is getting. Brady Quinn cannot yet be considered with Leinart, Bush and Young. This doesn't mean that I think Young should win it, just that I think he is the front runner (or very close to it). Adamb0719, why do you just show the top 5? You should show the top 6! ;):D
  14. I agree - I think Vince Young is currently the front runner for the Heisman.
  15. I click on Keira Knightley daily! :)
  16. The series shifts to Anaheim with RHP Jon Garland (18-10, 3.50 ERA) making his playoff debut against RHP John Lackey (regular season: 14-5, 3.44 ERA; ALDS: 0-0, 2.38 ERA, 11.2 IP). Tune in to see the reaction umpire Doug Eddings gets in Anaheim! Game-time Weather: Sunny and an extremely dry 88°F (with an abnormally warm high of 91°F for the day). GO ANGELS!
  17. He would have been up in July because he was the best batter to call up. We still wouldn't have seen Greenberg in the bigs if it weren't for Pie's injury. After all how is Pie ever going to become a decent major leaguer if he never plays in the bigs?? Well, he's 20 years old. That would make him young for AA! Why rush him to the big leagues when he's not ready - it's going to be a much bigger detriment to him becoming a decent major leaguer than waiting a year to get to the big leagues.
  18. http://sports.iwon.com/news/10132005/v4197.html?PG=home&SEC=news Bold #1: If he had said no catch, Paul would have tagged AJP OR, if he had rolled the ball, would have alerted Escobar to pick it up and throw it. That's a BIG regret. Bold #2: Looks like the umps fly in to John Wayne Airport.
  19. By what, 2 inches? The ball was not thrown before the signal. Pauls back was facing the ump. How in Gods green earth did he even see the pump? Did you see the video? He rolled the ball after the fist and you can't tell whether he was looking at the ump or not when he did roll the ball.
  20. How can you have such an opinion when he had nothing to sell. It was clearly a strike. Why would a catcher try to sell the fact that he caught the ball when all he'd have to do if he didn't catch the ball, or thought it was close enough to justify "selling" something, is tag the runner. There was nothing to sell. It was already called. A catchers job is to sell he caught the ball and it didn't hit the dirt. You can not tell me it wasn't close and thus Paul acting like it was a no doubt strike took off. IMO, it's Pauls job to tag the runner just to make sure there is no doubt about it. Paul also rolled the ball INFRONT of AJP so how could the ump give him the out sign before he rolled the ball? Watch it again because Paul rolled the ball BEFORE the out signal. No point in selling anything. Paul just tags AJP and it's an out. Paul wasn't selling anything and didn't have to. He rolled the ball simulatenously or after the out sign was made by Eddings. Watch the video.
  21. The ump wouldn't want to do that during the 3 games in Anaheim. Wouldn't want to do something that might get the home crowd mad (or whatever that was Eddings used to make an excuse about the home fans).
  22. I've seen it, and that is definitely not the case. The ump called him out, paul rolled (and didn't sprint anywhere), then AJ ran, the ump froze, looked confused as hell, then panicked and didn't know what to do, then just stood around like an indignant idiot defending his ineptitude. You're right. I saw the fist pump while Paul was still in his crouch. If the Angels are at fault there, then everyone better tag every batter after every strike 3 call, everytime. The Angels definitely will.
