  1. You should look into adding Ricky Nolasco to your sig.
  2. raisin, can you expand on this from the context? I know he was clocked a number of times in the upper 90's his draft year and following. Is Ron saying he's been clocked regularly in the upper 90's more recently? If so, when? This spring? Last summer when he wasn't very good? The reason I'm askin is that it seemed he looked pretty good and was throwing pretty hard in spring. But my recall from last summer was that he wasn't throwing quite that well, or that effectively. Has something changed, or not? Was he throwing regularly in 95-97 last year too, even when he wasn't much good? If so, it's obvious that his 95-97 is no more useful, short of improved movement or control, than it was last summer, and he's fringe prospect. But if the story is that something is changed, that for whatever reason last summer he was more 88-92, and now he's back to 91-97 again, then it's reasonable to think his prospects now are better than they were then. But if there's been no boost in his velocity, that's a differet story. Yes, Ron said Aardsma's velocity was down last year but this spring it had returned to the mid/upper 90s, topping out at 97.
  3. If what you say is true, then Baylor was nothing like Weaver. Like him with the home runs, not like him with the sacs. Even when it has been proven that Baylor;s teams weren't near the top of the list in terms of HRs? Did you just ignore half the posts in this thread?
  4. Shipp will easily replace Bozeman, both on offense and defense (and most importantly, will give UCLA an offensive player willing to go to the basket and not settle for the jumper like Arron and Jordan do). Hollins' athletic ability will be tough to replace (it will be tough getting used to not having a 7-footer, especially one with his leaping ability). Lorenzo Mata was actually starting ahead of Hollins for most of the season. I believe Lorenzo had a bad final game but he has been nails most of the season. I expect Alfred Aboya to also make a big leap next season - before his knee injury, he was supposedly more impressive than Mbah a Moute. Incoming freshman 6'8" James Keefe should also help.
  5. Afflalo is returning, Farmar will probably enter but not hire an agent and when he realizes he won't be a first rounder, I expect him back next year. Good. Hopefully we'll see those bastards in the national championship game next April. If they're returning their entire team, what makes you think you'd beat them next year? Because UCLA's best player should play all season, as opposed to just four games this year? (Josh Shipp)
  6. Thank goodness I never had to worry about the ACTs...just the plain ol' SATs for me! Iowa: LHP Raul Valdes (2005: 8-7, 5.77 ERA, 121.2 IP) vs. RHP Nate Bump (2005 w/ Marlins: 0-3, 4.03 ERA, 38 IP) West Tenn: RHP Randy Wells (2005: 10-3 2.83 ERA, 108 IP) Daytona: LHP Luke Hagerty (2005: 0-1, 31.05 ERA, 6.2 IP) vs. RHP Yovanni Gallardo (2005: 8-3, 2.74 ERA, 121.1 IP) Peoria: RHP Mike Billek (2005: 2-1, 3.62 ERA, 54.2 IP) @ LHP Paul Fagan (2005: 6-2, 3.50 ERA, 82.1 IP) That's a sexy ERA Hagerty had last year.
  7. Haha. And I had to follow it on Gamecast and kept predicting he'd implode every single inning. My Giants fan roommate thought I was strange.
  8. Good. Hopefully we'll see those bastards in the national championship game next April.
  9. Winds should be blowing in from left-center at about 15 mph. Game-time temps of 42°F (should feel like 36°F). Great baseball weather! :)
  10. I would like to hear abuck and BBB's thoughts on Shelton.
  11. Iowa now up 5-3 in the 8th inning.
  12. Ron confirms that Aardsma has been regularly clocked in the upper 90s.
  13. Man, it sounds like just hammered that one!
  14. Iowa leads Albuquerque 4-3 in the 7th. Buck Coats with a HR. Walrond has given up 1 ER in 6 IP. WT and Birmingham are tied at 1 in the 9th, but the Jaxx are threatening. Luis Montanez is at second, Richard Lewis at first with one out. Micah Hoffpaiur flies out, Montanez tags and advances to third. Aww, Greenberg grounds out 4-3. To the bottom of the 9th, tied at 1.
  15. Does this mean we can go back to Game 2 of the ALCS and correct Doug Eddings' call?
  16. By the way, the only hit Marmol has surrendered was a blooper. That is now Marmol's final line (6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K). He threw 71 pitches. Federico Baez now in for the Jaxx in the bottom of the 7th. Bah, he gives up a leadoff double.
  17. WT leads Birmingham 1-0 after 6, as Tony Richie throws out a baserunner to end the 6th. Marmol so far: 6 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 6 K, 2 BB
  18. I stickied this thread so no one will forget to mock Tim's arm strength. :D
  19. I actually have the Cubs minor league rotations saved on my computer and I normally confirm it the night before on each team's web site (and check out the opposing pitcher at that time - sometimes I have to check the opposing team's web site). For Iowa, Saturday should be LHP Raul Valdes and Sunday should be LHP Rich Hill (though there's a chance RHP Angel Guzman goes instead - both Hill and Gooz pitched on the same day earlier this week).
  20. I like Roy's all around game but I don't see the star potential in him. I think the Bulls have a decent shot at landing Brewer with their second pick and I think he'd be a good fit. Kinda like Iguodala, athletic combo guard with a suspect shot. Here's one place I disagree with you. Roy might still end up measuring at 6'4, but I think he definitely has NBA star potential - he can create his own shot, has a great jump shot, and plays great defense. I think Roy suffers from playing on the west coast (not saying you're one of those who haven't watched him much).
  21. Iowa: LHP Les Walrond (2005: 4-5, 4.57 ERA, 86.2 IP) @ RHP Yusmeiro Petit (2005: 9-6, 3.60 ERA, 132.1 IP) West Tenn: RHP Carlos Marmol (2005: 9-6, 3.34 ERA, 153.2 IP) @ RHP Lance Broadway (2005: 1-3, 4.58 ERA, 55 IP) - White Sox' 2005 first rounder Daytona: RHP Sean Gallagher (2005: 14-5, 2.68 ERA, 151 IP) vs. RHP Mark Rogers (2-9, 5.11 ERA, 99 IP) - 5th overall pick in 2004 Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (6-3, 2.92 ERA, 64.2 IP) @ LHP Justin Thomas Sean Gallagher vs. flamethrower Mark Rogers should be fun.
  22. Don't make me remind you of that gaping hole of death and despair you have playing every day in RF. Quit trolling. :? You're supposed to remind him of our defensive whiz of a gaping hole of death and despair known as our every day RF.
  23. Just wait until the reality show "Manager Swap." (We'll somehow get Bobby Cox and you can have Dusty or Frank Robinson. :))
