  1. You've been listening to Skip Bayless? haven't you? He said the same thing about Morrison. Well, Skip is right this time. He won't be a star.
  2. Ricky Nolasco is one of the leaders for one of the 3 remaining spots in the Marlins bullpen; his main comeptition is: Randy Messenger, Carlos Martinez, Chris Resop and Josh Johnson. I don't know how Wellemeyer will fit into the picture. Sergio Mitre will more than likely follow Dontrelle Willis in the Marlins starting rotation (they were once teammates with the Boise Hawsks), although Joe Girardi hasn't set the rotation yet.
  3. i dont want Paul Davis. I am firmly on the Tyrus Thomas bandwgn. and I believe we can give Detroit a ton more of a scare than Philly. I would love to see another playoff berth for this team...the playoff experience that the guys can get this year can be instrumental in the future. He's a freshman. Is he supposed to come out? That game he had against Texas was VERY impressive. Also, Aldridge sucked against LSU. I havent seen him enough this year, but judging by that game, I dont want him on the Bulls. I wouldn't judge LaMarcus by one game.

  5. He's always done poorly in spring training, turning it on in the last week or so.
  6. I like Z's passion too, but when it gets him ejected from games that doesn't help him or the team. By the way, he was ejected last year for ridiculing the home plate umpire. He has already turned his temper on the umpires. He had already left the game on opening day when he made those comments. And against St. Louis, he was about to leave that game, too. It's not like he's getting tossed a few times a season in the third inning. That makes it OK? Look, I *love* Z too. I just want him to grow up a little bit and direct his emotions better. That's all. No, but it's not really a bad thing. Maybe he is harnessing his anger this way - only really letting it out when he's being taken out since he knows it doesn't matter if he's ejected.
  7. Then you shouldn't complain about UCLA playing in Oakland. :P (I think it's a legitimate beef, but oh well, I'm not going to complain.)
  8. I agree too - though NC didn't play any better, they were just ridiculously talented. Had Illinois not lost their composure and run their offense, they should have won that game. I would have to say that the four teams today were far better than those yesterday. That UCLA win was an awful awful game. Plus, how did a 1 seed end up playing a road game in the elite eight? UCLA never should have been in that region. If that's the case, Gonzaga shouldn't have been in Oakland either. And Mason certainly shouldn't have been in DC. And Wilmington with a home game as a 9 seed. Arkansas in Dallas. San Diego St. potentially in Oakland. The committee did a horrible job this year, the problem is, stupid talking heads like Packer ripped them for the things they actually did right like the MVC and CAA teams. I don't know - it's one thing if UCLA plays in Oakland, but I really don't think it's a big deal when it's an 11-seed like George Mason playing in D.C.

  10. I know a couple of UConn homers.
  11. Nice comeback by GMU. UConn really goes through spurts of not caring.
  12. Yay, Howland giving some love to Cedric Bozeman at the half. :)
  13. so if illinois had glen davis, you're telling me you would want bruce weber to tell davis to change his style of play? That would be ridiculous, but I wouldn't enjoy watching Illinois play nearly as much as I have. It's why I loathe the NBA. And comparing Glen Davis to Shaq is foolish. When you're 6'8 and fat in college you can get away with it cause college teams are undersized, when you're playing against elite big men who are 5 inches taller than you, you can neither push them around or shoot over them should you get positioning. Davis will be a huge bust. But Dee Brown will be rookie of the year, right? Cuz the NBA is a perfect setting for undersized, streaky shooting guards. What's wrong with what SSR said? This has nothing to do with the Illini. Glen Davis is listed at 6'9" (so he's probably closer to 6'8"). At his size, there's a good chance he'll struggle at the next level. He won't be the strongest guy around - like Shaq is - and he won't be taller than other centers. What SSR is talking about is exactly what happened to Robert Tractor Traylor. Sure, Davis is more athletic, but he's still at a major disadvantage when he goes to the NBA, and I don't want the Bulls to take that risk. I'd rather have Tyrus Thomas (did you know he has tremendous leaping ability?) or LaMarcus Aldridge (no matter how he played yesterday, he'd be a great compliment to Tyson down low).
  14. I wouldn't mind moving the 3-pt line back, though.
  15. I heard he was likely headed to Peoria, actually. Probably Peoria, that's who he was working out with. Was also working out with Peoria. I recall you mentioning that certain players were practicing with higher level guys during minor league ST than expected because of the lack of roster cutdowns due to the WBC. In other words, who they practiced with might not be totally indicative of where they start the season. :p True enough, but still something to note.
  16. The stadium isn't even DONE yet. Maybe the 15 National League pennants and 9 World Series banners will give it "character"? What would give it more "character"? A mound in center field? A train track above the outfield? Ivy on the wall? A roof? A roller coaster in the bleacher section? No thanks. It's a baseball stadium, in it's purest form........ and is expected to be as comfortable as any stadium in baseball. That's fine, by me. What will give it character is the bestest most knowledgable fans in sports. :pukel: Soon to be followed by gay comments, fat jokes, and trailer trash remarks....... So predictable....... At least this time you took out the "racist comments" part. So, once again, where are these gay comments??

  18. Wow, that was a bit of a surprise. I agree, I thought ASU was all but a done deal for him. Good to see Pitt can retain their coach for more than a couple of years this time, though. Hey now, the last one's dream job was to coach at UCLA.
  19. What about the leaping ability of Tyrus Thomas?
