  1. I blame Patterson. CPatt was making stupid swings at some really bad pitches, and looked worse than most rookies. Doesn't matter if you're batting 1st or 7th. I can't blame the coaching staff for his stubborn attitude. If Pie is trying to learn patience at the plate at age 21 in Iowa, what does that say about Corey's willingness to learn? That stubbornness has sure shown this season with what Corey has done with Lee Elia. Oh wait... EDIT: Jon, I let you get that one first since it's your birthday.
  2. Marmol and Marshall are not unknowns (just look up some of mine and other folks' posts the past two years). Guzman was not ready the first time he was promoted, he was still rusty and recovering from not pitching much for 2.5 years. That wasn't overcoaching, that was promoting a pitcher who hadn't shown he was ready. Hill certainly has struggled, especially with his control in the big leagues. I'm not sure if that has to do with coaching. None of them should be untouchable.
  3. Not true of those folks who actually followed the minors. Mind you, outside of Guzman (and maybe Hill), most of the guys on your list have been rated below Marshall and Marmol in the last year and a half. I think only Hill, Guzman and Marmol have received any fanfare too.
  4. No problem. And don't worry, I'm not gonna steal your job. :^o
  5. I really don't see the Milton-Ethan comparison, Uber.

  7. So you don't want to fleece, say, the Diamondbacks in a trade? Just the Sox and the Cards? You come off as a Sox-hater first, Cubs fan second.
  8. A lot of Twins fans take exception to the fact that they took Mauer as a way of saving money or gauranteeing signability. I got lambaster by a barage of Twins fans on Twins.com(this was before I realized there were good baseball websites outside of the MLB ones) for bringing that up. They argued that they wanted Mauer from the get go and that Twins management would have been chastised for passing on Mauer, local kid. I thought I would throw this in here because it came quickly to mind when I read your post. One Twin fan in particular has made a point to yap at me constantly about how Prior refused to pitch for the Twins...despite having no evidence whatsoever to back it up beyond hearsay. He's the only Twin fan I know who's said this, despite knowing a number of guys who have never heard anything about it. He's been quite thrilled about Prior's injury problems. He's also a Jock Jones fan. I'll just leave it at that. I think I know who you're talking about.
  9. Don't forget Wells at AA. Iowa leads it 2-1 going to the 7th - Hill has given up 1 in 6 with 9 Ks to 2 BBs. This will be a 7 inning game.
  10. I'd be a week off if that happened - I thought Gallagher would be like Marmol and Marshall last year and get promoted after the FSL All-Star game. Hill with his 4th K through 2.1 innings, Iowa leads it 2-0. The Iowa broadcast crew are talking about the country of Bhutan. Don't ask me why.
  11. Please don't. Outshined would prefer if you rub it in. :P
  12. It's a DON DAY!! My bad. I looked at the wrong page on peoriachiefs.com. Was wondering why Yepez didn't match up with my own notes (which had Veal).
  13. Win ballgames and you'll win the PR part. Don't forgo a good trade because you aren't fleecing the other team and you have a better chance of winning. It's different in Chicago. Cubs fans have 2 enemies: The Cardinals and White Sox. You may not have to deal w/ the White Sox crap out in CA, but I don't want to deal w/ moronic Sox fans. Yeah, it's not like I don't have cousins who are White Sox fans who were rather harsh last October (and ever since). So you'd rather have something to get the better of Sox fans than complete a trade that would improve the Cubs?
  14. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Rich Hill (2-1, 2.42 ERA, 44.2 IP, 61/9, 0.90 WHIP) vs. RHP Chris Baker (6-2, 2.10 ERA) West Tenn: LHP Chris Shaver (2-4, 2.89 ERA, 56 IP, 51/24, 1.36 WHIP) vs. LHP Corwin Malone (5-4, 4.08 ERA) Daytona: RHP Sean Gallagher (4-0, 2.49 ERA, 72.1 IP, 74/18, 1.23 WHIP) @ RHP Michael Devaney (5-3, 2.18 ERA) Peoria: LHP Jesus Yepez (1-2, 3.75 ERA, 48 IP, 27/29, 1.52 WHIP) vs. RHP Michael Penn (4-2, 2.91 ERA)
  15. Stolen and updated from Windy City: 2006 Fecal League Standings (as of 6/9/06) Team W L PCT GB ============= == == ==== === Chicago Cubs 24 36 .400 - Tampa Bay 24 37 .393 0.5 Pittsburgh 23 39 .371 2.0 Florida 21 37 .362 2.0 Kansas City 16 43 .271 7.5 The DRays have now have fallen behind the Cubs too.
  16. Ugh, 6 am on a Saturday.
  17. Win ballgames and you'll win the PR part. Don't forgo a good trade because you aren't fleecing the other team and you have a better chance of winning.
  18. You make a very valid point. Might as well clean house all the way to the top (and come back with Cuban). Ok, you win. That's freaking awesome.
  19. Mulder just knows how to win. Athletes aren't robots. Some have the ability to rise to the occasion when it counts the most and some often crumble in the same situations. But Mulder hasn't. And you're still ignoring the principle argument that Jocketty got fleeced. Actually, srb started out by saying Jocketty doesn't trade key prospects or players.
  20. That's what I thought right after finding out the thread wasn't about Philip. Then Carlton can drop by for the seventh inning stretch. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/Navinda/thcarltondance1.gif
