  1. Top 3rd: - Spears strikes out looking on a 2-2 count. - Fuld grounds an IF single to second base. That's the first Daytona hit of the game. - Fuld steals second with ease. - Fuld advances to third on an errant pickoff to second base, E-1. - Spearman strikes out looking on a full count. - Harvey flies out to deep RF, stranding Fuld at third. Gallagher's 3rd inning: - Mejia strikes out looking on 3 pitches, the third being a beautiful changeup. - Thomas grounds a double down the 3B line. - Frazier grounds out, 6-3. Thomas holds at second. - Larish flies out to LF. After 3, Lakeland leads Daytona 2-0. Gallagher: 3 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2/0
  2. Jake Fox gets a leadoff walk on 4 pitches (they were definitely pitching around him), but Kown then recovers and gets the next 3 outs with ease. In the middle of the second, Daytona is down 1-0. Gallagher's second inning: -Leadoff IF single -Stolen base on a 3-1 count (bad throw from Rick) -Ground out to the right side of the IF, runner advances to third. 1 out. -RBI single up the middle. 2-0, Lakeland. -On a busted hit and run, the runner at first is caught in a rundown and finally tagged out. -On a 3-2 count, Simokaitis robs a groundball single and throws out the baserunner, 6-3. Lakeland leads 2-0 after 2 innings. Gallagher: 2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1/0
  3. Gallagher off to a rocky start in the first inning. After getting the first out, Sean gave up back-to-back doubles for a run. He then recovers with a K and a groundout, 1-3 Lakeland leads 1-0 after 1 inning. Gallagher: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1/0
  4. I didn't mind Mueller, if he hadn't gotten hurt the Cubs probably would have resigned him. Instead he went to Boston and won a batting title. And a World Series That's great and all, but imagine the Cubs offense with Mueller instead of Ramirez. Lee would be the only power hitter.
  5. I want Dusty, Hendry and MacPhail gone. Hopefully 1 out of 3 is a start, but I don't expect the Cubs will replace Dusty with anyone I'd want.

  7. Around what round will Kapteyn get selected? In 2007, I want Robert Stock. He was throwing at 90 mph at age 15 - has your boy from Sandberg beat. :)
  8. his defense is not good. then he's dead to me. What about Bynum?
  9. You really have your priorities out of whack!

  14. corey: .277/.299/.446/.745 ouch. I seriously thought about putting that in there.
  15. In almost every other organization, heads would be rolling. imagine if this were the yankees there is a reason htey have 26 rings and we dont have one in 100 years Yes, 200 million reasons. And we have 100 million reasons for our 13 rings. Oh, wait...

  18. He's not ready. I'd rather see him work on his plate discipline, power and baserunning at AAA than come up with holes in his game and struggle.
  19. Do you have numbers for that? BP did a study that showed pretty conclusively that the only good times to sac bunt when playing for one run are 1) when there are no outs and a runner on second and 2) when the pitcher (or someone who hits just as poorly as a pitcher - Neifi Perez for example) is batting. does the bp "study" conclude a that runner usually scores from 1st on a single? What are you talking about?
  20. Watch. The Cubs will be blown out or blow out the Padres tomorrow and Dempster will be used in a meaningless game.
  21. I haven't heard a lot about Cubs coaching affecting any player's hitting. Jon posted this in yesterday's game thread, though: Rothschild lives! The sad thing is JC and a few others had recognized this a while ago.
  22. Jones' striking out is about as predictable as Pierre grounding out.
  23. USC USC USC USC, actually I hate USC. that's ok, you can hate them both. Boo!
  24. USC USC USC USC, actually I hate USC. You're a good man.
