  1. So Rusch gives up 4 ER in 5 innings...and actually lowers his ERA. Well done, G-Unit.
  2. Yeah, he walked 6 guys in 3.1 IP.
  3. All you have to do is say you're interested and then you'll go into the rotation (which is on the first page of this thread). We'll let you know when your tur in the rotation is approaching.
  4. I think David is. Roberto Novoa may have something to say about that. Or possibly JK Ryu. Gotta love that the Cubs have 2 ready relievers, with past ML success, ready to step in if there is an injury. In terms of Ryu, I think he's in a different situation from Aardsma/Novoa since he'd be used as a long reliever. At this point, I think Aardsma is ahead of Novoa with the return of his velocity.
  5. Better than me, I'll check yahoo.com or espn.com for updates a couple times at work (NSBB is blocked and Gamecast doesn't work at the office).
  6. Yepez was great yesterday. no hits through five. mixed in all over the soze. he doesnt throw as hard as some of the other guys ( i think he was 85-88 if the radar on the scoreboard was accurate) but is somewhat deceptive from the left side. it looked like lefties had trouble picking him up yesterday. some of that had to do with the positioning of the sun but he took advantage of that. everyting was either popped up or on the ground so his sinking fastball was obviously effective. also had a nice breaking ball and changeup working yesterday. good control as well. Wonderful, thanks!
  7. There's more draft related stuff about RHPs Jeff Samardzija (Notre Dame), Chad Lee (Barton County CC), Daniel Bard (North Carolina), Ian Kennedy (Southern California), Max Scherzer (Missouri) and LHP Andrew Miller (North Carolina) in that link.
  8. Iowa: RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (0-0, 1.80 ERA, 5 IP) vs. RHP Ben Sheets (AA: 0-0, 3.37 ERA, 2.2 IP) - on rehab West Tenn: LHP J.R. Mathes (0-0, 4.50 ERA, 6 IP) @ RHP Adam Bass (0-0, 12.46 ERA, 4.1 IP) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (0-1, 9.00 ERA, 4 IP) @ RHP Michael Pelfrey (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 IP) Peoria: LHP Donnie Veal (0-1, 10.80 ERA, 3.1 IP) @ RHP Tommy Mendoza (0-1, 7.71 ERA, 4.2 IP)
  9. The starters went 21 IP, gave up 2 ER, 7 H and had a 21/5 strikeout-walk ratio. Not bad.
  10. Wow, great debut for Holliman! OleMissCub should be pleased. :)
  11. Iowa: LHP Rich Hill (2005 @ Peoria, WT, Iowa, Cubs: 11-6, 4.19 ERA, 154.1 IP) vs. LHP Justin Thompson (2005: 2-2, 4.70 ERA, 44 IP) West Tenn: RHP Juan Mateo (2005 @ Daytona: 10-5 3.21 ERA, 109.1 IP) @ LHP Ryan Rodriguez (2005: 13-7, 4.09 ERA, 167.1 IP) Daytona: RHP Grant Johnson (2005 @ Peoria: 3-8, 3.82 ERA, 73 IP) Peoria: RHP Mitch Atkins (2005 @ Boise: 3-6, 5.03 ERA, 73.1 IP) @ RHP Robert Mosebach (2005: 3-3, 4.57 ERA, 65 IP)
  12. I'm going to preemptively ask this since I can't listen to the game today. How did Yepez look? I know he's primarily a ground ball type of pitcher, does he throw a sinker? How hard does he throw and what type of pitches does he throw?
  13. It would be nice to see Marshall have good sink on his FB, esp if the wind is blowing out.
  14. Didn't the Reds do this a few years ago (for a few months) before they collapsed?
  15. I'm all for that since it will help get mhuber's name changed. And that's what I really want to see. :D What u don't like mhuber? :D Heh, it just doesn't have quite the same ring to it as douchebagJones. :P
  16. I'm all for that since it will help get mhuber's name changed. And that's what I really want to see. :D
  17. Game time temps of 52°F (feels like 48°F) with winds blowing out towards LCF at about 10 mph. GO MARSHALL!
  18. And his scouting report (kudos T2E) was good. I hope the Cubs can sign him as a DFE.
  19. Iowa: RHP Angel Guzman (2005 @ Mesa/Peoria: 0-1, 2.45 ERA, 18.1 IP) vs. RHP Nic Ungs (2005: 7-5, 3.68 ERA, 120 IP) West Tenn: RHP David Cash (2005 @ Iowa: 1-0, 1.59 ERA, 17 IP) Daytona: RHP Mark Holliman (2005 @ Ole Miss: 8-4, 3.90 ERA, 113 IP) vs. RHP Jason Wahpepah (2005: 5-6, 3.95 ERA, 116.1 IP) Peoria: LHP Jesus Yepez (2005 @ Boise: 4-2, 3.92 ERA, 62 IP) @ RHP Marwin Vega (2005: 4-2, 4.73 ERA, 32.1 IP) Holliman is making his professional debut, he was a 3rd round pick last year.
  20. I had to take the ACT. We didn't have the SAT down here. I never knew what the differnce was. People would tell me what they made on the SAT and I had no idea whether it was good or bad. The ACT was much, much easier than the SAT (though neither one was particularly challenging). On the new SAT, the first section is an essay and you've only got 25 minutes to plan and write it...not the way that I like to start a test. The ACT looked easier, but I was just glad I had to take one type of college entrance test.
  21. The #1 sign that it's baseball season? The battle of the wits between Dusty and LaRussa. It's like watching Chess in the Special Olympics. I'm putting that in my sig!
