  1. Probable Starters: Iowa: TBD* vs. RHP Dennis Sarfate (2-1, 3.09 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Randy Wells (2-1, 1.57 ERA, 34.1 IP, 27/6) vs. LHP Manu Olivera (1-0, 1.93 ERA) Daytona: RHP Mark Holliman (2-3, 3.70 ERA, 48.2 IP, 50/23) @ LHP Eric Fowler (4-2, 2.91 ERA) Peoria: LHP Donnie Veal (4-2, 2.68 ERA, 47 IP, 59/30) @ RHP Juan Jimenez (1-0, 3.86 ERA) * Probably LHP Ryan O'Malley (2-2, 3.41 ERA, 31.2 IP, 27/2) or RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (1-3, 3.12 ERA, 43.1 IP, 37/17)
  2. Sure until you're going back to get your doctorate. Then stats aren't so much fun. You gotta to quit when you're ahead.
  3. baker's philosophy of "always be aggressive" is killing the team. i think hendry's more at fault than dusty, but firing dusty---and, most importantly, gene clines, will go a long way towards improving the OBP and SLG of this ballclub. Get rid of everyone, MacPhail on down. Oh yeah, and what sethuel said.
  4. I don't know how much stock the Cubs put into plate discipline, so I think he'll be up with the big league team for sure next season (possibly later this season). He's definitely a work in progress, though.
  5. You really think after years of post-9/11 birth certificate scrutiny, Albert Pujols' age is wrong? And yes, I want Cabrerra on the Cubs. Too bad the Cubs don't have the bargaining chips for him.
  6. Probable Starters: Iowa: TBD* @ RHP Victor Moreno (1-1, 5.31 ERA) West Tenn: LHP Chris Shaver (2-3, 3.18 ERA, 39.2 IP, 37/13) vs. LHP Paul Mildren (3-3, 4.35 ERA) Daytona: RHP Sean Gallagher (4-0, 1.99 ERA, 54.1 IP, 53/12) @ RHP Daniel Core (2-0, 2.10 ERA) Peoria: RHP Mitch Atkins (3-0, 2.34 ERA, 42.1 IP, 45/15) @ TBD Your choices for Iowa: LHP Ryan O'Malley (2-2, 3.41 ERA, 31.2 IP, 27/2) LHP Rich Hill (1-0, 1.44 ERA, 25 IP, 33/7)
  7. Guzman doubled his walk total for the season with his 4 walks yesterday. That Marmol is something, isn't he? A few more: .189 BAA, 1.14 WHIP
  8. Geez, the Cards have three pitchers who are better hitters than anyone in the Cubs' lineup (besides Z).
  9. Juan Pierre for Renyel Pinto, Ricky Nolasco and Sergio Mitre.
  10. Thanks a bunch.
  11. looking goooood Whoops, too much confidence in the Cubs.
  12. How? You (and the late Tony) don't play for the Cubs.
  13. At the top of that page, you can also see a video of a Buck Coats' RBI single against Sacramento.
  14. I have to miss the tuneup against Venezuela because I have class. I get off work at 4 on Saturday which is right when the game will start out here in California. Wait, the game against Venezuela is on Saturday at 4 our time?
  15. Thomas is a hard worker by all reports. I can't see that happening at all. I meant a high flyer who can dunk and dazzle but can't create his own shot. Thomas is already a better defender than Robinson ever was Stromile Swift would probably be the better comparison and he's from LSU to boot. I'm not a Bulls fan, but I think if Tyrus Thomas is there he's got to be the pick. They can have a poor (and young) man's version of Nash/Marion with Hinrich/Thomas. Definitely some differences, but there are also some similarities. I think Brandon Roy is going to be an impact guy early on and the upside is a little higher than some think. He would have been a great pick for them if they were a little lower, but he would probably be a reach at 2 and especially if Thomas is on the board. Roy will end up being one of the three best players in the draft and will probably have the best or one of the best rookie campaigns amongst this bunch.
  16. The Cubs better keep tanking for Robert Stock. And he better be worth tanking for.
  17.
  18. Is that for sure now? No, it's not. Rich Hill's demotion throws a wrench into that. Both Hill and O'Malley would be on ideal 4 days rest tomorrow.
  19. Yup. And horribly overpaying for Pierre.
  20. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Angel Guzman (2-2, 5.40 ERA, 23.1 IP, 30/4) @ RHP Juan Dominguez (3-5, 6.98 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Carlos Marmol (3-2, 2.42 ERA, 48.1 IP, 56/21) vs. RHP Anibal Sanchez (2-4, 3.99 ERA) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (2-3, 4.40 ERA, 45 IP, 41/23) @ RHP Orlando Trias (4-3, 4.95 ERA)
  21. But, he's (Pierre) such a hard worker, misquoted or not to him, Baseball will never be just a game. I don't care what they say (and what their personalities are), I just want the better player.
  22. But look at him while he's kicking ass. He doesn't care.
