    Heh, I was pretty adamant in my disgust at the Wrigley crowd last season (along with Corey and the coaches). Lets not boo neifi either! He's HUSTLING on those grounders to second! Pierre, too. Ehh, probably shouldn't get into that in this thread.

    SMALL? It was a smidge over a half season. He produced that for 5 months in 2004 too - while coming back quicker than anticipated from an injury. And whether or not Corey has a similar avg/obp to Pierre, he'll be well ahead of Juan in the slugging department. And as Tim pointed out, all while being much cheaper than Juan and not costing the Cubs three solid young pitchers.

    Nice! I really like Gallagher's approach and in-game mentality, but have always wondered how well his velocity would hold up as he advanced, if the 89-91 reports were true and if the reports of him being unlikely to add velocity due to his large frame were true. True, very good news. This should help him up the prospect rankings. Addendum: I think Sean will get promoted around the time of the FSL all-star game, a la Marmol and Marshall last season.

    Brian is expected to be activated by the DJaxx on Friday!

    DJaxx score one in the 5th on an RBI Jose Reyes single which scored Richard Lewis. Brian Dopirak is expected back in a DJaxx uniform on Friday and probably will be activated then.

    To summarize BA: Marrero came into this season as the top HS hitting prospect and didn't live up to the expectations. He has average to plus tools, and his best tool is power (which rates as a 70 on the 20-to-80). He has "adequate plate discipline and good pitch recognition." Has struggled to make consistant hard contact but he remains high on draft boards due to projection and power. Might have to move to first base or left field. It doesn't sound like he's as good as Rowell. BA seems to like him a lot less than MiLB. So yeah, uhh, he sounds like someone the Cubs would draft. I say go after a pitcher since that's the obvious strength of this draft and a projected top-10 pitcher should fall to the Cubs.

    Next Tuesday and Wednesday. The draft pool added three more pitchers: Luke Hochevar (formerly Dodgers' property) is officially back in the draft, as are two of the top draft-and-follows: Pedro Beato (Mets) and Bryan Morris (Devil Rays). The first two are sure-fire first rounders and Morris has been projected to go late in the first round.
