  1. I remember watching Wright in the 97 playoffs when I was like 14 and hoping that Wood would wind up being like him. I remember him throwing some serious heat, but looking back at his numbers, he didn't really strike out a lot of guys.
  2. I'd definitely be behind "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and I don't know of any off hand that use it. Mariano Rivera uses "Enter Sandman" and Trevor Hoffman uses "Hells Bells" but I don't know any off hand that use "For Whom the Bell Tolls". Yea, I keep picturing the scene with Woody coming out and FWTBT blasting. It's amazing. I wish I could forward this idea to somebody and make it happen.
  3. Humans Being - Van Halen
  4. Guess I should've phrased it: "Would they do it at an audible level?" lol
  5. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/03/help-wood-pick.html Would they actually do it at Wrigley? Personally, I'd go with For Whom the Bell Tolls (does any other closer use that?), as cliche as that might be . I have to admit I always thought it was pretty cool when they'd do it for other closers and was always a little envious...
  6. It's Jose Canseco. Did you expect Nabokov? Vance has got some talented eighth graders. No, Jose Canseco is just a huge moron.
  7. Does anyone else think now that we signed Johnson, that Hendry may add Pie to this thing, and pull back some others? I highly doubt that they would consider Johnson a viable full time CF. If they had gotten Crisp, I could see that scenario play out.
  8. Yea, Plesac was spouting that nonsense all last year. He was absolutely certain Kendall would start down the stretch, and then once the playoffs rolled around he once again was certain that Kendall would be the main guy because of Kendall's "superior" defense.
  9. Everyone puts up huge numbers in the PCL. Big deal. Look at PCL stats from 2007, sort by OPS, and count the number of Shortstops ranked above Cedeno. Link Go here, and look at what Ronny Cedeno has done against major league pitching: http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/cedenro02.shtml With the vast majority of his ABs at age 23? Yea, might as well give up on the guy. Real smart. I still heart your av, though.
  10. 205. Ryan "Donnie" Garko 206. Ubaldo Jimenez 207. Nate McLouth 208. Jose Guillen
  11. 196. Corey Patterson 197. Hiroki Kuroda 198. Johnny Peralta 199. Mark Prior 200. Jay Bruce 201. Mark Reynolds
  12. Still better than Marquis & Dempster. I hate this rotation. Debatable.
  13. That he did... http://bp1.blogger.com/_4bK9kYUYx7E/RnhB_4m4xMI/AAAAAAAAAGQ/faJ2-8KIeNM/s400/mcabrera.jpg
  14. I still don't understand why people are so anxious to get Marquis out of the rotation and the other of Lieber/Dempster in. They all suck. At least Marquis has a chance to be halfway decent for a decent chunk of the season.
  15. Is this the same Steve Kline, who once wish that Mark Prior took a line drive off the head, and that he could no longer pitch in the majors? I mean no longer be a fan or Prior, but I'll never forgive Kline for wishing bodily harm on a fellow player. I think that was part of the "act" that was previously referred to.
  16. Absolutely not. The fewer starts by those guys the better.
  17. Except for a glorious two months in 2004.
  18. lol http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080323-national-league-central-teams,1,6935467.story Except now it refers to gains in wins/losses from last year. What a versatile stat.
  19. Somebody claiming to have talked to a Royals scout posted this at OH. http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60778
  20. Might it have something to do with the fact that both depend on big looping curveballs and that Arizona isn't known to being kind to such pitchers? I guess that explains us being swept by The D'Backs last season too... I know that's a joke, but, I mean, come on. Spring training is essentially meaningless. I don't know why anyone cares about these stats/performances. The same thing happens every year. People freak out about great or terrible spring performances and then the season starts and everyone forgets about it.

  23. That's fine... I'm just bitter cause I was taking him next.
  24. Can we disqualify the pick if the name is misspelled?
