  1. Personally... DeRosa Fukudome Lee Ramirez Soriano Soto Pie Theriot P But that's just the little bit of leftover conventional wisdom in me talking, I guess, because technically, it would be better to get Soriano more PAs than DeRosa. Either way, lineup order isn't going to matter all that damn much as long as Theriot isn't at the top (or in it at all, preferably).
  2. lol, Barry Bonds, pre or post steroids, would be one of the best "leadoff hitters" of all time. i'm not even sure the "one of" is necessary.
  3. It cracks me up when people try to say Lee started out slow last year. Um, right.. haha At least you admitted your mistake, though.
  4. I shouldn't be so smug about CPatt leading off for the Reds, though. Theriot isn't much better.
  5. I guess the Cubs are the only team to live by that theory. Please. The closer "position" is maybe the second most overrated role in baseball (you guess the other one... the guy in your sig will be handling that one for your team.... dusty, lol). If you had a guy like Marmol, would you want him coming in with a lead, nobody on, and nobody out in the 9th, or, say, the 7th inning with two on and nobody out in a tie game? It's pretty obvious to me. BTW, one season (nor one game, nor one inning a piece) does not make it clear that Marmol is a better pitcher than Wood.
  6. So, does this mean we're getting Brian Roberts?
  7. This is one overreaction I can get on board with. Theriot blows.
  8. Because your best relievers should come in in difficult situations, not save situations.
  9. Just the whining in general is annoying. But it's a baseball forum about the Cubs. What do you expect? I was at the game today. Wish we'd have won after all that buildup. Oh, well.
  10. i hope that was sarcasm. Well...he hasn't... Neither has Tom Gordon. And why exactly are people against Marmol closing? Marmol and Wood were used in the exact same situation today. Ok? So why are you talking about Marmol being a closer based on what happened today? Wood still has to pitch somewhere. Wood pitched in the 9th today because he is the closer. Ya, because closers are just always supposed to pitch the 9th whether it's a save situation or not.
  11. lol dextermorgan has the WORST sarcasm detector ever.
  12. It's supposed to make it up to the 60's today. Would be the warmest opening day since 1992. We'll see. I wonder if Skilling is still standing by that great forecast he made in today's Trib.
  13. Basically, what I was thinking.
  14. Not when you're Hanley Ramirez at the plate. Albert Pujols isn't especially fast, he's still one of the best overall players in baseball.
  15. Lee's going to have a monster season. Not nearly as good as 2005, but his best since.
  16. Not like he almost single handedly won the Cubs first playoff series in a million years or anything.
  17. Apparently, he sucked in extremely impressive fashion. We'll call it a Jim Edmonds outing.
  18. It's not ugly, its just got New Comiskey Park syndrome. Meaning, the retro ballpark design has lost its luster and originality. I wouldn't say that. The "good" retro parks like SF (whatever the hell they call it, is it SBC?), Jacobs, and Camden are still beautiful, but some of them (like GABP and this DC one) just look cheaply made and lame.
  19. Yeah that doesnt look like Kosuke (kos-k) That most definitely is Kosuke in the picture. It's from the WBC team. Eh, my bad. I see Vance edited it. Can't remember what pic he had on there before.. ](*,)
  20. That would make it seem all the more likely that they'd do everything in their power to get it in Monday... We'll see.
  21. your pretty silly his pretty silly what? Apparently, the "pretty silly" belongs to "it."
  22. I just realized that the stock of my Wood jersey-tee has now skyrocketed back to relevance. Sweet.
