  1. I don't want to get used to that. Not with Hank White. That pic needs some Geovany Soto.
  2. Um, what channel might this be on?
  3. wat? If we're going to get rid of murton for the sake of letting him start on another team, we might as well let our truly awesome players flourish in a better setting. It would be a terrible idea to have as many quality players as possible, regardless if they are starting for us. You nome sane? Ya. That went right over my head. I'll go ahead and blame it on last night's binge drinking.
  4. Hopefully plenty of saves too. You just quoted the guy who already made your argument but executed it better. So well, in fact, that you missed it. You missed the fact that I was correcting a mistake of his. I can't tell if you're joking or not.
  5. Its akward to know that you could have been spying on all of us today while we were walking around the park. Oh, and I had my first (two) wrigley field hotdog(s) today. Yummm. I hate you.. Oh, well. That'll be me soon enough.
  6. I doubt that'll be the case. The forecast really isn't as bad as you're making it out to be. I think they'll get the game in (the start might be delayed a bit), and it's going to be pretty damn nice out when they do. We'll see. As much as I hope your right, I just don't think so... According to Skilling's latest update (not sure when it was), the storms come in the morning and then pick up again at night. That's gonna leave an awful wet field, and who knows if we get any rain in between. Trust me, I want this game to be played Monday more than anyone here, but I just don't see it happening. Didn't they just install a brand new state of the art drainage system? I'd expect the field to be in pretty good shape.
  7. The lurker comes through with the pics. I forgot all about that cam. Bullpens are gonna look weird with that warning track now.
  8. I doubt that'll be the case. The forecast really isn't as bad as you're making it out to be. I think they'll get the game in (the start might be delayed a bit), and it's going to be pretty damn nice out when they do. We'll see.
  9. That'll be like the equivalent of the Cubs finally winning the World Series the one year they play at Comiskey.
  10. Nice post, Roast. Any pics?
  11. I'll take Skilling's forecasts (not just because they're the most optimistic)...
  12. Hey, like I said, for me, probably not that big a problem. I'll just take another day off. But a rainout would suck, regardless, because it means waiting longer for Cubs baseball.
  13. The tickets might be good, but that doesn't mean people will be able to use them. I could probably get the day off, but lots and lots of people couldn't just take off another day of work to go the next day.
  14. It's a biggie for people who have spent money on tickets and are taking days off from work to go to the game.
  15. The Trib (Skilling) this morning is forecasting a high of 64 with a low of 40 for Monday. Doesn't look so bad if that holds up. That would be one of the best opening days ever, if we can dodge the major storms. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll be at Wrigley Monday and Wednesday (H 57, L 40, Sunny).
  16. Kerry Wood will nail down plenty of safes in the regular season.
  17. I don't really believe that clutch exists at all, although I do think that certain players' skills are more likely to diminish in high pressure situations than others. Clutch (in the sense that a player "rises" to high pressure situations)? No. Anti-clutch, yes. I guess that's just semantics though. That said, you would think that you would have to be pretty damn invulnerable to pressure in order to just make it to the Majors. Either way, IMB! is right. It doesn't matter much.
  18. I'm pretty sure that, not only has the list been announced, but that they're down to the final two. Hell, they might even have a winner by now.
  19. I'm not remembering that one, what was it? Hendry was rumored to be going after both Lilly and Meche at the same time last offseason. When he lost out on Meche, he went for Marquis (as I remember it). i don't think it was that; i think it was either lilly or meche. remember, meche got a 5 year, $55M contract. marquis' contract - while ridiculous - is just 3 years, $21 million, a much smaller financial commitment. eaton's contract, given that he's always been below average and has had a lot of injury problems, was inexcusable. I could be wrong, but I thought they were still going after Meche after signing Lilly. Then Meche ultimately chose the Royals over the Cubs. What you're saying would make sense, though, since Lilly signed and then Meche signed with the Royals the next day. Maybe Bruce could help us.
  20. I feel bad for him (aside from the fact that he gets paid millions of dollars to play baseball). He probably is dying to get the hell out of there but doesn't want to ruin his image (or is just flat out too "good" of a guy to) by demanding a trade publicly. He was probably convinced that he'd be coming here and was likely pretty damn excited about it.
  21. Defensively the argument is much the same, IMO. Theriot is bad to mediocre, Cedeno could be worse, but has the potential to be much better.
