  1. This lineup could've been flat out scary if we had gotten Roberts and had the balls to try DeRosa at SS.
  2. We really have quite a few guys with good plate approaches in this lineup. Fuku, Lee, Soto, DeRo and, to some extent, Johnson all really seem to know how to work a good count. If Soriano could learn anything from them he'd be a superstar as a player instead of in name only. HOORAY A RUN
  3. I'd say pretty average. Not quite as accurate with his curveball as he needs to be to really be effective, but at least a little better than before. Hope he figures it out. Thanks.
  4. How is Lilly's stuff looking? Better than the first time out?
  5. Hughes drives me nuts when he gets excited like that.. I hate hearing the games on the radio.
  6. Ball 4 I like this patience thing. Keep it up.
  7. Seriously, nobody loves Ronny Cedeno. They'd just rather see the better option play, much like what happened with Theriot and Izturis last year. It's pretty damn clear that nobody here loves Theriot, right? (Well, for the most part, at least...)
  8. As long as Rey Rnez is nowhere to be found.
  9. His wrist made its official comeback last September, if you ask me.
  10. I get what you're saying, but .317/.400/.513/.913 say, "Hi."
  11. I understand we're "playing the percentages" here, but how the hell is Pie supposed to learn to hit lefties if he never faces them? Seems pretty counter-intuitive to me. I can live with him never learning to hit lefties if we always have a reasonably good righty option in CF. Nothing wrong with a good l/r platoon, especially when the "main" guy is a lefty. His usual days off will just come against the lefties.
  12. Pie was never going to start against lefties once we got Johnson, which is fine by me. We've been hearing that Pie might've gotten the last two days off in part because of the sore wrist from the beaning. We won't really get to see if he's fallen out of favor until two games from now, because I believe we're facing lefties both today and the next game.
  13. i think the reason for the (over, possibly) reaction stems from last year. if i remember right, marmol was really leaned on last year to the point where people were wondering if he was being over-used. then lou starts off this year by putting him out there four of the first six games and intends to use him again today, making it five out of seven. Exactly.
  14. When, if ever, are we gonna see Geo swap places with DeRosa? I know DeRosa's stats (huge sample) look a lot better than Geo's right now, but Geo has hit into bad luck and has been absolutely crushing the ball. Personally, I'd rather see him up after Fuku than DeRosa.
  15. ...if there's a save situation, which is good, but... Marmol's arm is going to fall off before we even get to September. :banghead:
  16. Oh, and Derrek Lee and Kosuke say "LOL spring training stats," to those of you that were worried a couple weeks ago.
  17. I wouldn't call this week "crap week." It could've been better, but it could've been worse. Finishing the week, 3-3, is pretty solid first week, IMO. Winning today salvaged the week. Had we lost, it would've continued to be a crap week.
  18. I think that sham closer post might just become NSBB's version of "If Zambrano starts, your in trouble..." Where is that post? vance bumped the first anti-Wood rant and reference to the "sham" competition. Jim Sorgi bumped the first actual use of the term. I guess we'll have to pick one as the "official" one.
