  1. Lol, that aged well. I wonder if they have checked in on Zambrano and Colon. I think it’s more like they’re wondering whether Rick Reuschel or Rueben Quevado still have it..... Ruben Quevedo does not still have it.
  2. Illinois digging themselves into early holes is getting really old.
  3. yeah. i'm not much of a merchandise collector at all. i used to own a sammy sosa bobblehead until its head bobbled right off, and that's about the extent of my bobblehead collecting history. the rizz/kb one was sweet, and it would have been cool to have, but i was more just baffled how poorly the whole thing was run. and they were immediately--like right after we found our seats in the bleachers--showing up on ebay for several hundred dollars.
  4. I was in the bleachers last July for the makeup game against the Brewers when they were giving away the Rizzo/KB bobblehead. It was hot as hell and I waited in line for several hours before the bleachers opened, was easily one of the first 3,000-4,000 or so people in the park, and they "ran out" of the bobbleheads before I got to the front of the line. Apparently, they only set a certain amount aside for the bleachers or something? Really dumb. They said they ran out at the gate I entered on Baez Day and were yelling at people to keep moving and getting us past the barricades to keep it from becoming truly dangerous, even though there were boxes in the corner against the wall and barricades with a bunch of Roasts standing in front of them like they were successfully hiding them. I got ushered past the barricades, and then they started passing out and opening those other boxes within 2 minutes, and they wouldn't let anyone they had told to go through because they had supposedly run out of bobbleheads get one. Given how obscenely expensive their tickets are, and with all of the construction/expansion they've done, to act like they can handle 10k max of any giveaway is horsefeathers as hell. Yuuup. The guy that sat behind us got in well after us and wound up with a bobblehead, I think because he was a season ticket holder. So, from what I gathered, they set aside a certain portion for the grandstands, another pile is set aside for season ticket holders, and then the dummies that line up early for the bleachers are horsefeathers outta luck. So, not really first 10,000. But, yeah, the things cost like $3 to make. Maybe carve out a little bit more room in the budget to avoid riots.

I suspect they handed out a bunch of them before the original game got rained out and probably didn't have many left for the make-up. As far as I remember, they never even opened the doors for the originally scheduled game.

  7. whoa did Chatwood pitch the 9th for the Brewers
  8. It's pretty crazy, obviously he may have some sort of info that's informing these decisions (whether it's numbers or knowing a guy is banged up or whatever) but this all just seems like he's going completely by feel and his own thoughts. The lineup tonight should've been. Zobrist LF/RF Javy 2B Rizzo 1B Willy C Schwarber DH Happ CF/LF Heyward RF/CF Bote 3B Russell SS or something like that, definitely those are the 9 guys that should be in. this is pretty spot on. and with the DH, you can even leave Rizzo at the top if you really want and put like Happ and Bote 8-9 to give Rizzo plenty of opportunities to drive in runs.
  9. hamels doesn’t know strop that well yet so he just went with his own “backyard bbq” theme.
  10. good lord hamels. i can’t stop laughing.
  11. one of these things is not like the others, in more ways than one.
  12. Why do you goobers act like "we'll just bullpen it" is some trump card lmao. If the starter gives up 5 runs in three innings, it's not gonna make much of a difference how good our bullpen might be. Because it is a trump card and the starters will be pulled early the first sign of trouble to not get to 5 run in 3 innings start. Plus some of us on here have to counteract your consistent whining, doom bonnering and ninniness the first sign of trouble is usually the first inning.

If the starter gives up 5 runs in three innings, it's not gonna make much of a difference how good our bullpen might be. plus, the way they've been used this year, our bullpen is probably gonna look like the injured bench full of looney tunes at the end of space jam by the time october rolls around.
  14. love a 30+ pitch first (when it's not the cubs pitching)
  15. Cubs getting Ziegler
  16. Hugs for hamstring injuries?
  17. Not with the rangers either per Jesse so not kela or Diekman
  18. Hmmm... who else might be on this level? Rodney?
