  1. Thank god the Cardinals are finally realizing that they are a bad baseball team.
  2. I never really understood why people thought we gave up too much. Well...I do. Two minor leaguers for Trachsel is a lot. But I doubt Cherry would have made it with us, and we are set at 3rd base for quite a while, and we have plenty of backups who can cover 3rd pretty well to give Ramirez a rest.
  3. Sometimes I think the Cardinals purposely get crappy players just to irk us when we have to watch those players perform ridiculously better than they ever have in their careers.
  4. We didn't really whine. Just pointed out the obvious.
  5. 35 games in 34 days is going to be tough for them. But then again they are the luckiest team in the history of baseball. Let's just take care of business and try not to worry about them. Luckiest? Do I sense some animosity or jealousy? Let's call a spade a spade, shall we. I thought he was being a little generous. He should have said the luckiest team in pro sporting history. Any team as craptastic as last year's Cardinal team that wins the championship can't be considered anything other than lucky as hell.
  6. Exactly. I know. That's why I usually don't call people out when I see something that makes me roll my eyes. More often than not, they don't actually mean it. Also why I tend to avoid posting in here unless it's a PBP.
  7. You haven't been around this team long, have you? Since 2002. Most of the current Cubs haven't been around that long either. The only point I had is that it's very annoying to see someone make sure everyone knows how optimistic they are during every single game no matter what's happening. You can say bad things about the Cubs, they won't hate you. I'm optimistic but not as much as you think. Kinda funny how this whole issue started with me simply saying...lol you guys are funny. Because it's a running posting theme with you and it can't help but often come across as being very mocking of people here. He's actually right, though. A lot of you guys are pretty funny in these threads. After a nice win, go back and read through some of the stuff. It's golden.
  8. Honestly? I don't recall one. Early August 2003. The only reason I remember is because that series had that game that schilling pitched that went into extras, and Troy Oleary drove in Aramis Ramirez to end it. That game was delayed like 2 or 3 hours by rain, too.
  9. I'm pretty sure this is all half sarcasm, dude. We all understand that Blanco is nothing but a very good defensive/pretty bad offensive backup catcher. Kendall/Blanco, however, is by far the best catching squad we've had this year.
  10. Whew That would have been embarrassing.

  12. Can anyone get this??? I have the 2004 montage done by WGN. Here it is: (WARNING: May be painful to watch) I almost cut myself a little just now.
  13. Neifi Perez Stole my response >=[ :D
  14. Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano still makes me laugh.
  15. Is there any actual truth behind this Crawford talk? What would be Tampa's incentive to trade one of the best young outfielders? Is he coming up on a big contract soon, or is this just a pipe dream?
  16. Pretty sure it's more than that... thought I heard we were at six earlier... lemme thing about it. 6 catchers - 5 combos For a little while it was just Bowen/Hill
  17. None of that matters. He throws baseballs with his left hand. The Giants have already won that game.
  18. What a friggin waste of an asset that would be. Err, what SSR said. Asset? What exactly does Cedeno bring to the table? 24 year old who has torn up AAA. Could be valuable in a trade if we find a gullible GM...so basically if we try to make a trade with ourselves.
  19. I agree with pretty much everything he said, with the exception of him saying that Ramirez, a 29 year old, is on the wrong side of 30. The Cubs were very bad the past two years. They're not good this year, in all honesty. And even in 03 and 04 they were not great. This is not the makings of a dynasty. We have Zambrano, Hill, and Lilly in terms of good starting pitching. Marshall certainly has been impressive, but I wouldn't really trust him too much going into next season. Our team this season is a mix of aging (and, in some cases, very aged) stars and over-performing young guys. That's not a good mix for the future. They are also mostly overpaid. I would not one bit be upset if this team got completely torn apart in the offseason. The Brewers have a great young team. They're probably better than us this year and they're only going to get better, and they'll be together for quite a long time.
  20. Cool opinion, I don't share it. They play in a different league. Their level of play has zero effect on us. We play eachother 6 times a year. For those 6 games, it's ok to care about them. After that, it's kind of stupid imo. Plus, they've won a world series recently. Until we do the same, they have bragging rights regardless of how good or bad either team is doing.
  21. I don't really care at all what the White Sox are doing, you guys shouldn't either.
  22. Will this game be blacked out on MLB.TV or is that only for stupid Fox games?
  23. God I hope we get shelled in this game and expose that this team is a terrible team that got hot for 2 months. Reverse psychology Hey, if it keeps working I'll keep saying it. Regardless of how dumb it may be.
