  1. Why all 220, of course. We're all very mature here and would never get off topic.
  2. Cedeno: "Hey man, you still gonna suck this year" Theriot: "Yeah, duh" Cedeno: "lol, me too."
  3. Is this a good time for an "it's called hitting, not walking" joke?
  4. Ironic. What evidence have you shown, anyways? By the way, Chicago Sorianos has a nice ring to it.
  5. What does this even mean? still waiting, maybe we should post what we think he meant..... i got nothing. I believe he is saying that he has also been looking for a true leadoff hitter, as has the rest of MLB. This leads me to wonder why nobody in MLB has been able to find a true leadoff hitter, and I am left to believe that the reason is that a true leadoff hitter does not exist. It's a myth. Like bigfoot, but more annoying. He then questioned whether a group of forum posters is smarter than employees at MLB teams. The same employees of MLB teams who value wins for pitchers and saves.
  6. Wasn't Jeter's contract the biggest contract ever handed out to a shortstop at the time that he signed it?
  7. http://www.nypost.com/seven/02172008/news/nationalnews/youve_got_to_be_kidding__98050.htm That article is one of them. A study showed that Jeter is the worst defensive SS in the majors, which is just a preposterous idea to many New Yorkers (not sure why. He may not be the worst, but he's not good)
  8. Almost all of Major League Baseball thought for years that the home run was a "fad" and hitting a bunch of them was basically unsportsmanlike. Almost all of Major League Baseball still thinks the save is an awesome stat. I can trump that. The Cy Young is mostly hinged on a pitcher's W-L record. Pitcher's W-L is one of the dumbest stats ever created in any sport. What? It's a pitcher's job to win ballgames. Yeah, I'm kidding.
  9. Forgive me for not knowing much about the minor league system, but how does Ceda project? More of a middle innings guy or as a potential closer/setup man in the future?
  10. I don't get it...how does the screenname "Ram my fanny" have anything to do with Aramis? Does this have anything to do with what Izturis did to him in the dugout?
  11. The site has gotten better, apparently. But you must have missed when it first went up. He'd post ridiculous crap just to get hits.
  12. Good. 2007 Kerry was wayyyyyyy too skinny.
  13. We weren't involved in any of those trades. Not because of Hendry's hard on for Roberts, but because either we didn't have the players required, we didn't need them (yes, just like Roberts), or -in Santana's case- they refused to waive a NTC to come to us.
  14. And the broken record skips again. One more time: 1. Leadoff is not a position. 2. You don't know what Hendry wants any more than any other fan. Ok leadoff might not be a position, but it is still something you need to focus on when building your team. You need a leadoff hitter on your team just like you need a 2B. We have no leadoff hitters, so getting a leadoff hitter should be a top priority. Who cares if it is a position or not! It is a position in the batting order! We have a leadoff hitter. It's not a position, so we have one by default. If they signed me and had me bat first in the lineup, I'd be the leadoff hitter. It's a batting order slot...not a position...and it isn't overly important.
  15. By the way, while searching for funny DB quotes, I found this: http://blogs.dailyillini.com/justbaseball/2007/10/17/dusty-baker-is-back-like-griffey-in-slugfest/ Not the most interesting thing ever, just echoing the sentiments that Dusty sucks.
  16. I had a dream last night that my father was the GM of the Orioles. I asked him why no deal has been done, and he said that Angelos keeps blocking it. That's my inside scoop. FWIW.
  17. I don't really understand why we bother them as much as we do. It's not like we sit here and rip on them constantly, like they do to us. This is like the 2nd thread that I've ever seen discussion about them in. I met somebody on an online game once who was a Cubs fan, and I asked him if he was familiar with NSBB, and he said "I don't go to that garbage site. Go check out Desipio" then he left the game and added me to his blacklist. I don't really get it.
  18. I thought we all just ignored Desipio's existence?
  19. I've taken an awful lot of things in this thread with a grain of salt.
  20. I wanted to post in this thread because it's awesome.
  21. My sources tell me that source jokes are still kinda funny. I'm waiting to see what the guys at OH say on the issue, though.
  22. I did cry when I saw Baker in a Cub's uniform. I also quit watching after the NLDS. If I recall correctly, the players went on strike after that and the games were never made up.
