  1. Is there any reason why this was the 3/29 gamethread and not the 3/28 gamethread....or is NSBB so cool now that we can change dates?
  2. He could make it "one thing" by Finger 11 that way we all have 2004 flashbacks every time he pitches! Seriously, that song pisses me off because of that.
  3. Until somebody comes to your house and forces you to read that thread at gunpoint I don't really see why anybody would be upset about it
  4. 1. Male or Female? Male 2. Have you always been a Cubs fan? For the most part If No, who's fan were you before? The first baseball game I really watched was the Indians in the 95 World Series, and I was rooting for them. I quickly jumped ship to the Cubs. 3. Have you ever heard of the Curse before? Yes. 4. Do you believe that there is a Curse preventing the Cubs from going to the World Series? Absolutely not. if Yes, do you think it can be broken? N/A 5. Do you believe that some fans use the Curse as an excuse for the Cubs loses? I believe the media does it way more than any Cub's fan. "LOLz dey r cursed" is a cute tagline to get people to watch games. 6. What reasons can you give to explain why the Cubs haven't had a World Series win in 100 years? Terrible management decisions and personnel
  5. eh, playoff teams will probably be: Mets, Brewers, Dbacks, Cubs Red Sox, Indians, Angels, Yankees/Tigers Mets over Cubs in the NLCS, Indians winning the ALCS and World Series. That'd be my choices.
  6. Yeah, I was kinda taken by surprise by the flailing at curveballs, I decided he was criticizing him for not being patient but wanted to give it strong wording (and in doing so made a completely incorrect statement. As was his bad baserunner statement), but Theriot does have bad range and a weak arm.
  7. Sorry if it's been posted already: http://www.sportsline.com/columns/story/10739994 Some interesting quotes: We aren't the only ones who realize it =D>
  8. I voted 5th. I may have been joking, though.
  9. I guess it's possible in that ballpark, especially since he'll be getting a ton of undeserved playing time. But, his OBP will still suck.
  10. I don't think we should be concerned about Pie considering it's called hitting, not walking. Dude.
  11. ....did they backload the hell out of it with the intention of trading him after the second season when the deal gets more expensive? I can't imagine a team that couldn't afford Johan giving a closer 12 mil a season.
  12. Actually, no. Dusty has gone on record several times saying things to the effect of "you can't walk guys...you won't stand a chance (dude)." That's what's so frustrating about him. He realizes that walks kill his pitching staff, but doesn't really make the connection that MAYBE they might help his offense. Young pitchers have thrived with Dusty at the helm before, and there is no reason to believe that Volquez, Bailey, and the other young Red's arms won't do the same. That's the problem, actually. Because Dusty will destroy their careers within a year or two.
  13. We need more middle infielders, give him a 4 year 24 million dollar deal and see what happens.
  14. I came into the thread late - don't understand why the Royals are being referred to as PECOTA.
  15. Yeah, but everybody sees it coming this time, which makes it a lot better. I wonder if Cueto has scheduled his off season surgery yet?
  16. I want them to get Michael Barrett just so I can make fun of Cinci some more for signing all of Dusty's washed up ex-Cubs.
  17. I chose the home run guy. But, in thinking about it. What if the home run guy grounds into a double play in all his other at bats or something? I think, looking back, I'd choose the guy who walks.
  18. I don't get it. He realizes that walks and patient hitters hurt his pitchers, but he doesn't correlate that to how walks and patient hitters will help his offense.
  19. yay I love this post by a poster at the end of the story. I hope he was joking:  Haha, that was me.
  20. Sometimes I really wonder if ozzie is just a really old looking 14 year old.
  21. It's not just O.H. getting into the rumor fabricating business: Found this on another board:
  22. *makes an "everything is bigger in texas" joke*
  23. The hit Longoria in the head????? The running over the catcher blocking the plate a couple of days ago. No, I think he was asking you if they hit Longoria in the head, because you referred to it as a "beaning." I'd like to know where he was hit, too, for what it's worth.
  24. No no no, it isn't that Dusty doesn't like young players. Mark Prior, Carlos Zambrano, Corey Patterson, and Hee Seop Choi all got more than enough playing time with Dusty managing. The problem is, if they mess up once, they're benched for good in favor of crappy veterans. He then tries to change their approach, like he's doing to Votto. If they're a pitcher that's young, he'll run them into the ground like he did Z, Prior, and Wood. Trust me, you'll see.
