  1. The bold is exactly what everyone has been arguing. Not that he's untouchable, just that you are trading your top 2 odds on favorite for the 5th starter in the same trade for a hitter at a non-need position. And I disagree that Marshall isn't any better than Marquis/Dempster. I do understand that argument, although I'd prefer not to say anything about it until the offseason is complete, for all we know DeRosa is headed off in a trade for a starting pitcher. I did a quick check just to make sure I was not too off base with my "Marshall isn't much better than Marquis" line, I actually screwed up and was looking at the wrong line and thought that Marquis had better stats  But, they had comparable whips last season, Sean's ERA+ was significantly better. It's tough to go off of career numbers because Sean only has two years service and his first year was terrible, so it wouldn't really be fair to him.
  2. Why is everybody making such a huge deal about Sean Marshall being in on this trade? He is a non prospect, and he's the same guy that everybody wanted replaced last season, and the same guy that WAS replaced...with Steven Trachsel of all people. That right there should show you how much Hendry and Lou trust him. The only somewhat bad part about dealing him is that we have no backup when Demp and Marquis suck...but Marshall really isn't much better than those two anyways. Hendry can find another backup option, that shouldn't be much of a concern. Losing Gallagher sucks, definitely. Cedeno is iffy. His time to prove himself has come and gone in the organization's book. He deserves another shot, but he probably won't get one. May as well trade him while he has some value. The only way this becomes a bad deal is if they include Murton, who is young and good, for Payton, who is old and sucks.
  3. I would not say that Brian Roberts is essential, but aside from that, nice first post. Welcome to the board.
  4. Just wait for the game threads. I find it pretty entertaining, though.
  5. pffft... That toy shows Aramis hustling. Too unrealistic for me to pay 15 bucks on it.
  6. Just a random thought I had, but wouldn't there be a clause in every MLB player's contract that says that they can't break any federal laws or something along those lines? If so, could MLB teams seek to get money back from the players who get linked to steroids?
  7. If they want to break up the righties, why not: Soriano Lee Fukudome Ramirez Derosa Pie Theiot Soto
  8. 1. He's fast 2. He's left handed 3. He can catch 4. He plays a position we already have covered All the criteria that Hendry looks for. I expect a multi year deal soon.
  9. Maddox was hilarious when he updated more than twice a year. His page about vegetarians is one of the best things I've ever read.
  10. I personally love how Vista gives you at least 10 pop ups every time you use it to inform you that something that you personally double clicked on is trying to get access to your computer. Makes me feels so safe. The best part is how it freezes your computer for a good 5-10 seconds while it does that. That's how you know it's working.
  11. Not quite. The numbers I've seen is that around 80% of PS2 games are playable on a 60gb and about 70% are playable on an 80gb. The good thing is that, while they are going to patch in updates that make more games playable on the 80gb version, the 60gb version is set in stone as far as which games are playable. So, in the near future, you could see every PS2 game playable on 80gb systems.
  12. Isn't Fick the guy that got sued for sexually harassing a flight attendant?
  13. So.... Are you ever going to tell us what the point of this is? IS there a point to this?
  14. i'd actually take a job with the cards and then run them into the ground. it might get me fired, but my cub fan friends sure would appreciate the effort. The trick is to have the Tribune buy the Cards. Then, you can become their GM, run them into the ground, and they'll sign you to an extension.
  15. What about a tie game in the 7th, 8th, or extra innings? Or in the early innings when the steal results in the go ahead run and then neither team scores the rest of the game? .......
  16. Maybe I was in the process of moving or something at the time, but I don't remember that at all. Clearly it's a home run, but what's so special about it?
  17. Who was that guy who played for the rockies in 2002, and every time he came up to bat, Joe Carter would say he "worked out too much and lost the flexibility needed to get around on inside pitches." Was it Gabe Kapler? I always thought he was a pretty obvious juicer and was surprised not to see his name.
  18. Ive been wanting to change mine to EnnTea for a while now to match my online name for everything else, I'm just too lazy
  19. I hate when people do this, but... IBL viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45945
  20. But now who are we going to hate?
  21. David Gritstein.
  22. Not sure if it's been mentioned, but: I found that pretty interesting.
