  1. I accept that people feel this way, but I'd like to see someone provide better empirical evidence that Sammy is better than people like Billy Williams or Santo. Similar career OPS+ to Santo, with a better prime. see my post on the previous page. Sosa's peak wan NOT all that much better, and considering how close they are in OPS+, you can't say Sammy was better, then argue in a different thread that OBP is more important than SLG. Santo's far superior OBP more than makes up for that slight difference in OPS. It was a half-hearted attempt to be sure, I don't feel that strongly about it, just tried to give an answer for others to possibly work from. I think something has to be said that Sosa has the best two seasons of the pair, and his best season blows away anything Santo did in his career. Sosa's best 5 seasons (OPS+): 201, 169, 160, 160, 141 Santo's best 5 seasons: 164, 161, 153, 146, 138

  3. You can find the Z worshipping here.
  4. It's his dashing good looks. Honestly, IIRC he doesn't have one really super pitch(like Hill with his curveball), but I don't remember much else because I'm terrible at keeping that stuff straight in my mind.
  5. Holy carp they're trying to get Ethier or Kemp for Maddux? Sweetness
  6. Kansas City was pretty stupid to keep him in the Major League pen.
  7. word I used to go every year but haven't been able to make it for several years. Next Saturday will be the first time since, I believe 2003. Next Saturday as in the 29th? I'll be at that game as well. Are you bleacher bound? My dad got the tickets through his work, so I don't know, but I'd bet good money it's not in the bleachers.
  8. hahah, Pettitte blows, Z is awesome ps why did Z throw 123 pitches
  9. This thread needs to die a horrible death.

  11. That's a beautiful thing. I've got Rich Hill and Sean Gallagher as the next two pitchers I can see contributing to a Cubs rotation for a good stretch of time. Its possible to lose Wood and Maddux next season and have a rotation of Zambrano, Prior, Hill, Marmol and Marshall with Gallagher on the cusp. But if the Cubs want to compete for a playoff berth, I would much prefer to see Zito added to that bunch with possibly one other veteran in the mix. How about Zambrano, Prior and Zito with Marmol, Hill, Marshall, Gallagher and a 5th starter quality veteran battling it out for the final two spots. I could live with that. 2007 may be a bit early for Sean, but then again, it may not... a rotation of: zambrano schmidt prior marmol hill would make me very happy. but they need to let hill pitch, like they've done with marshall. yesyesyesyesyesyes Use Marshall in a deal to get an OF bat(DeJesus and/or Hawpe/Cuddyer would be ideal).
  12. DeJesus, Hawpe, Cuddyer
  13. Yeah, he pretty much created the need for the Negro Leagues.
  14. FWIW, Anderson's BABIP should probably be about 50 points higher with the amount of line drives he hits.
  15. Oh, okay, you're talking about in the scope of the individual game.
  16. yes. I want to argue that a bases empty walk is usually better than a bases empty single. On what scale? Are you talking about predictability?
  17. I must of missed the numerous GMs that have openly stated that they wouldn't be willing to acquire Mark Prior for a B level prospect. Can you provide a link to a source? There was one thread/article that linked an unnamed somebody that said he wouldn't even give up a B level prospect because it wasn't worth the risk. It was pretty much concluded that this unnamed person wasn't very smart, especially considering the contradiction of his statement(If Prior isn't worth anything, then why is it too big a risk to take him?).
  18. It'll be more Soriano-like than anything I'd suppose.
  19. Pie went 0 for 8 the other night and is still hitting .328 for the month.
  20. I'd give Neifi's right arm so Neifi didn't have a right arm anymore.
