  1. Maybe someone can help me with something - I remember a game back earlier in the season against the Dodgers and since I have MLB extra innings, I was listening to Vin Sculley. And I remember clear as day that he said that Murton has lots of power, that he had won a few home run derby's in the minors - but that it had not yet been seen in the majors yet. Anybody else hear that? Very interesting from one of the best... It's been pretty well documented that Murton can put on a show during BP. The problem is, that power hasn't crossed over into game action, at the major league or minor league level.
  2. Murton doubled someone off first, that was pretty cool.
  3. Ichiro is 32, and his game is built entirely around speed, an ability that will soon be leaving him. He will cost more than his production in money and players as well. So you either are overpaying in players to have him for a short period before he's a FA, or you overpay in cash to extend him after you pay a healthy player cost to get him.
  4. but I drafted in an 8 team football league today. There's also a salary cap factor involved, which kinda explains a difference near the end of my roster. QB E. Manning RB E. James RB R. Johnson WR T. Holt WR P. Burress TE C. Cooley K D. Akers DEF Pittsburgh Bench QB M. Bulger RB L. Jordan RB C. Perry WR Roy Williams WR B. Stokely TE M. Lewis DEF Houston I know it's hard to gauge because it's a smaller league, but what are your impressions? I'm pretty happy with it, although I know I'm going to kill myself deciding between Burress and Williams in the lineup.
  5. That Italian team are World Cup champs. I don't think anything else matters to them. That seems to be apparent, considering the way they went about doing it. Yeah, their defense was stellar throughout the whole tournament. Agreed, we were pretty stellar. Sincerely, http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/fifa/gen/afp/20060617/i/351073890.jpg
  6. Let's not go after Ichiro. Let's fire whoever even thought it was a remotely good idea to go after Taveras.
  7. I don't think there was any bad blood at all. The Twins just weren't going to pay his price. Didn't he get a good ovation when we went to the Metrodome?
  8. Ya mean there's something more important that CUBS baseball ??? This year, most definitely. Fortunately, the ESPY's don't make that list.
  9. Josh Gibson could hit.
  10. How did you manage to get such a poor outfield? You've gotta find a way to get Shelton in your lineup, especially one with Sexson and Murton.
  11. plz replace Negron with Fontenot on the 40 man.
  12. Why would Payton, Catalanotto, and Counsell all sign deals to be bench players when they're pretty certain to get starting offers?
  13. IMB, you be up yo
  14. .309/.395/.469/.864 at Iowa And he's not even on the 40 man.
  15. I very may well have misread those charts, but doesn't that article also say that Griffey is the worst CF, A.Jones is below average, and Pierre is the 4th best? That's what it says. I can believe Griff Jr is the worst NL CF right now (if he runs too fast at this point, his legs will actually fall off of his body). I'm a little surprised to see Cliff Floyd ranked #2 for LF's though. I always thought of Cliff as being less than great in LF. Remember that it's only half of one season, there's room for a lot of variance in that short timeframe.
  16. Theriot wasn't exactly "tearing it up", although he had solid numbers I suppose. Mike Fontenot on the other hand....
  17. Well he's hitting over .300 so he must just kill the 0-0 and 0-1 pitches. 0-0 and anything after 1-0. He's awful if he gets behind in the count. That's not all that uncommon.
  18. If you think it's this: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/4315/zidanesf9ee3ul4wb5vz.gif then yes. And it turns out the National team game is a US Womens World Cup qualifier, they lead Sweden 1-0 in the 62nd minute and are pretty much controlling play.
  19. Who would you have in CF next year then? I dont' think Pie is quite ready. I'd rather stick Pie in the 8 spot everyday and not expect anything from him than bring back Pierre. As far as alternatives go, it depends on what else you do with the lineup, and how much production you'd need to get from the position.
  20. FC Dallas scores already. :( What's with all the crap on the field at Bridgeview?
