  1. He's hardly cheap. Unless the Phillies pick up a chunk of his contract, he's very expensive. So what? The Cubs have money, and plenty of it. Let them spend it. I wasn't saying its a bad move, I was simply pointing out he's not "very cheap". There's multiple meanings to cheap. I took the original comment to mean player cost.
  2. He can now return to the Fire Swamp from whence he came.
  3. Barrett was a butcher at 3rd and has said he doesn't want to change positions. Barrett's offense from the catching position makes him valuable. His production as a corner infielder would make him very ordinary. I don't think he should be moved to third, but if Barrett were a third baseman this year and had enough ABs to qualify, he would rank 6 of all ML thirdbasemen in OPS. that's not ordinary. That's true, but going forward I don't think we can expect Barrett to continue to put up a .900 OPS.
  4. It was pretty excruciating trying to decide between Addai and Droughns. I went with Addai because he'd be my 3rd RB so I could afford to gamble on his platoon situation for the benefit of him being a better keeper option than Droughns. Plus he plays in a better offense and I really didn't want to pick someone from Cleveland, living there and seeing their crappiness for so long.
  5. How many of Celtic's regulars were playing? It didn't really say, but I think most if not all. It is their preseason though while it's the middle of the MLS season.
  6. DC United beat Scotland's Celtic 4-0 today, with DC resting 4 of their starters.
  7. Because he wasn't responding to best first half, he was responding to who was the best SP at each level So then why ignore part of Atkins' performance at that level, especially considering how both pitchers were trending.
  8. I understand Nate's argument, though. At the time of Veal's promotion, he and Atkins were similarly rated. Veal and Atkins both had their upsides at the time...but Atkins is a year younger. Things are different since then, but at the time, Nate's got a good argument. Regarding my choice, I was evaluating performance more than anything else, though. But why use the "at the time" argument when we're talking about the entire season to date?
  9. Cut for Cap Space selects Joseph Addai, RB, Indianapolis
  10. Nothings really "great" about him, but he does have the ability to get on base and hit for power that would be nice to see on this team. Interestingly, both this year and last hes had horrendous Mays that have really hurt his #s. The astros may be able to use Nevin to platoon with Lamb. Nevin alone wont get Lane, but there might be a match. He has a .330 OBP this year, .328 for his career. That's not very good at all for a corner OF, this year it would be 19th of 22 RFs or 17th of 20 LFs if he had the at bats to qualify. He'll be 30 in December and isn't hitting for any power this year. We could do much better than Lane, I'm not even sure he's appreciably better than Murton.
  11. How do you figure? um lets see. 1. More wins doesn't matter 2. lower era incorrect 3. less walks 4. less hits allowed incorrect 5. lewss homers allowed incorrect 6. more ground ball outs 7. more team wins in his starts doesn't matter 8. much more consistent is that enough or should i keep going for you? Veal gave up fewer runs and baserunners, and struck out many more. He walked more, but his K/BB ratio was better too. You can see the numbers here. apparently i should have qualified my answer with WHEN VEAL LEFT.....or maybe you have seen all their starts this season....? When you are trying to figure who was best in the entire first half, why randomly cut off Atkins' numbers? We're already ignoring that Veal went to the next level and didn't give up a run for 20 IP(or whatever it was). There's no point in disregarding Atkins' performance after Veal was promoted.

  13. Please don't use such strong language.
  14. How did Dubois make the All Star team with a .253 AVG and .309 OBP? Well he deposits a single to LF nonetheless.
  15. Soto takes a walk off of Royce Ring.
  16. Why didn't you pick the keeper option in the league settings?
  17. Zidane is a hero. http://www.hostmypiconline.com/images/!image00w.gif Or maybe not. http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/2181/headbutt7zl.gif
  18. What he said. To me this is reason 1, 2, 3, and 4. Especially if he feels his job is at stake he could be even worse in that aspect.
  19. Or the Rams as the best offense of all time.
  20. I think it would be okay to be aggressive in this case.
