  1. How about BetterThanHollywood? Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
  2. Pfft, shoulda saved it for spring training.
  3. No The one word response is always good. Offense makes up more of the game than defense. Considering the makeup of the Cubs, with a lack of offense at SS, CF, and at least one corner OF spot, it would definitely make more sense to get an offensive minded 2B, even if they are not gold-glove caliber. Why would it behoove them to make infield defense more of a priority? That sounds nice to say, but what's the justification? Well now you're not even trying anymore.
  4. Ziggytaxi posted a workaround that helps you search by poster(it's in social somewhere, oh the irony), but I can't remember it's been so long.
  5. How many injuries did the Bears have last season?
  6. I thought I was 95% certain it was 2 years.
  7. Especially in the low minors the starter/reliever stuff really doesn't matter much since they throw so few innings at a time. I believe Pawelek has have a few relief appearances this year for example, it's all just what they want the pitcher to work on. Since Parker has been doing some starting, I think it may be that they're trying to work out some sort of mechanical issues or pitch grip/location issues ala Aardsma when he first came into our system. I'm not talking about his time in Pro ball. Even though they had 2 freshman get significant starts, Parker didn't crack the rotation at Mizzou. He wasn't amazing statistically and he doesn't have great stuff. He's organizational filler.
  8. As an offensive stat? I thought it would be obvious DMAWBS was suggested tongue-in-cheek. Gee, thanks for the flagrant insult. I figured you were kidding, but may not have known that there was actual DI stuff. As for the Hughes comment, I was being tounge-in-cheek as well, referencing the old BA roundtable discussion. Sorry if you were offended, it was just meant to poke fun at Hughes.
  9. Mickey Morandini I don't care if he's not active, he was the man.
  10. Defense Independent statistics aren't new. Wait a second, FergieJ31 is Gary Hughes!!
  11. I wouldn't hold out very high hopes for Parker. He didn't even start for Mizzou.
  12. I wasn't aware of that. that makes him a little more difficult to get, but I think overpaying for a player like DeJesus rather than overpaying for a player like Freel makes alot more sense, and makes tons more sense than trying for Abreu, who will require tons in terms of talent and payroll. I agree, I'd be willing to overpay(not blindly of course) to get DeJesus.
  13. DeJesus signed a contract in March that takes him all the way to free agency. 2006: 500k 2007: 2M 2008: 2.5M 2009: 3.6M 2010: 4.7M 2011: Club Option, 6M v. 500k buyout
  14. Did you even watch him when he moved down in the order in the WBC? He's got a complete game. He'll continue being a very good player. The guy from Japan homered in how many games in a row too. A short set of games doesn't say anything about Ichiro being able to produce after losing a step. And even then, there's the matter of him costing too much in players, and then probably too much money to keep.
  15. Jeebers, Pie is 0 for 7. No K's though. Fontenot is 2 for 7.
  16. I think it's worth pointing out that Morgan preceded his astonishingly sensical ramblings by uttering some of the most hilariously stupid things he has ever said, capped off when he called the ESPN stat department liars and pledged to (if you're standing, sit down) look it up to check.
  17. I'll take Andre Johnson, WR, Houston
  18. "They're trying to come up with statistics for runners moved and stuff, but I think we have too many statistics already" There's gonna be a great FJM entry about this game, I just know it. Joe's in rare form. HAHAHAHAHAHA, and now Joe doesn't believe that Jones is 0-53 at 0-2 "Sometimes statistics are incorrect"
  19. "Contrary to popular belief, it is easier to bunt than it is to hit." - Joe Morgan, Emmy Winner
  20. I did the exact same thing as Woodward in softball on friday. Took the step back to get the hop and couldn't get the guy at first.
  21. Raw already drafted Wayne, IMB
  22. SS is the leader in the IF. That was Cedenos screw up, in my opinion. And it landed on the thirdbase side of second, and was a foot or two from hitting Cedeno in the head.
  23. You know it's hot when Pierre is showing off the bare arms.
