  1. If I remember correctly from the Beltran deal last year, his totals in the NL start at 0. Not 100% sure though.
  2. "WE WANT A PITCHER NOT A BELLY ITCHER" I hear the shrubs are too shy to join in the taunting.
  3. Manny is 33, turned so in May. He'll be 36 when his contract expires if neither team option is picked up.
  4. Guaranteed through 2008 with team options in 2009 and 2010. Any sort of buyout on those options? Not to my knowledge. Manny also gets a 1 million dollar bonus if traded. I don't know if this means he gets 1 million dollars once, or if 1 million is added to his salary every year, but I believe it is the former.

  6. uhh ohhh Will Carroll was speculating a Bigbie for Matt Lawton swap earlier in the day.
  7. To my knowledge it's a dual option. Thomas has a 10 million player option if the Team option is declined, at least that's how I understand it. There's a 3.5 million buyout, and I think that is paid if both options are declined.
  8. Heh, I'm watching ESPNews, and they're talking to John Clayton. They had Olney on a little bit ago, but the only thing interesting he said was that the Cubs said they were interested in Soriano if they were dealing him, and the Rangers said okay. Said that there's a 10% chance of Soriano moving.
  9. Isn't Soriano's defense pretty bad at 2B? Wouldn't he be pretty awful in left? I'd think it's a little easier to play LF than 2B.
  10. If that's all it takes to get Dunn(No matter the prospect involved) then I'm going to be quite upset.
  11. Que? And whats with the hate for Manny? Sure he's a malcontent, but malcontents that play well are theoretically invisible. No way you can prioitize Huff and Floyd over someone with a career OPS over 1.000 Salary concerns? If that's true, why the hell is Beltran at the top of his list? Hmm, that was my best guess. I dunno. I'd go: Dunn Beltran Manny Floyd Huff Soriano

  13. Another bad move by SD if it happens, unless cash is thrown in to even out the contracts.
  14. I can't open these links. And now somebody locked the topic. I don't know why, I just hope wasn't over some immature thing. I think the thread was locked because it was redundant with several other threads still going. To view those threads, remove the Premium in the "PremiumForum" portion of the URL.
  15. I think it's reasonably possible to have a statement looking forward to Nomar coming back without heaping praise on Neifi. And I can guarantee you that the board would not be complaining about "undermining Neifi's confidence".
  16. Just FYI, The splits were 2002 - 2004, so it includes as recent as last year's numbers. Sorry about that, I was in a hurry and just saw you say in NY. I have looked at the numbers for past years, and all I'm trying to do is exercise caution. I certainly don't think he'd put up his Neifiesque road line overall if he became a Cub. That said, I don't think we should expect anywhere near his home numbers.
  17. That wasn't true in NY though: 3 year splits 2002 - 2004 - Away OPS .866, Home .836; Away OBP .332, Home OBP .331 The road splits everybody is so concerned about seem to be an anamoly to his career numbers. And what's good for the Niefi is good for the Soriano. Those were also from three years ago. His away OPS has gone from .866 to .770-something(sorry, not enough time to look it up) to .677. Soriano has always been overrated to a degree because of the Yankee hype machine and his lack of OBP. I'm with BK on what I'd give up for him, but I don't think that's remotely possible to land him.
  18. I really don't think you can neglect the Home/Road splits here. It's one thing when a guy is somewhat better at home, but this is a 300+ OPS differential! The guy is Pujols at home, and Neifi on the road. That has to be taken into account.
  19. I'm interested to see how Pettitte does this second half. If he reverts at all to his numbers from a year ago(or even his career numbers), it's going to be difficult to sustain their hot streak with their offense, especially with Backe going down. They obviously could add a bat, so I'll have to reserve judgement on them until after the deadline.
  20. You don't see the thread talking about the Astros below? Just about every post I've seen recently regarding the WC race has been about catching the 'Stros.
  21. So you're judging the decision simply based on the result? The fact that we got 0 runs, wasn't based on the double switch. Gerut led off the inning with a double, so he did his job and the decision to put him in paid off. Unfortunately we stranded him at 3rd. Again, please tell me what was wrong with leaving Ohman in to pitch the 7th? He's our best situational lefty and there were two lefties leading off the 7th. On the last page I posted what Ohman has done in situations where he's been asked to go 1 and 2/3 innings. He's done it 6 times for a total of 10 innings with 5 base runners allowed and 0 runs. He can obviously handle working more than 1 inning. I think he's judging the decision on how stupid it is to play for ONE RUN...regardless of whether they got it or not. The fact that they scored none only makes it look even dumber in hindsight. But Hairston bunting had nothing to do with the double switch.
