Can you explain why it's not? I'd love to see an upgrade in LF, but Williamson and Nomar have not contributed anything all year, so getting them is much like trading for somebody. -

Am I the only one who doesn't get the big stink about this guy? Yes he has pretty good power, but his plate discipline is poor (averaging a strikeout a game this year and throughout his professional career) and he's really only having a solid year at a level he played at last season. At least Brandon Sing walks a lot and destroyed the levels that he's repeated. I feel like if Moore had been drafted in the 20th round instead of 8th overall, nobody would think anything of him. Moore K's a lot, but he's walking at a good clip and hitting for great power in High A ball at age 21. Sing was at the same level at the same age and walked more and struck out less, but was also much less productive. Moore's K's are a lot easier to handle with his power production, in addition to his decent walk rate. His BABIP isn't extremely high(.324), so he should be able to translate his success to other levels. -
The Giants have made a late bid for Randy Winn, offering two mid-level prospects, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. A Mariners source told the paper Saturday that there is a 90 percent chance Winn will be dealt before the deadline. The Mariners will likely recall Chris Snelling after Winn goes. Winn could play center and left in San Francisco. Jul. 30 - 7:41 pm et Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer Either the West is an absolute joke or Sabean is off his rocker. I'd say both is also an acceptable answer.

Floyd out the the line up too? Hmmmmm EDIT: ESPN News boldly just put on the screen: "Manny Ramirez is not going to the Mets" and that he would not be traded. Maybe Cliff Floyd is going someplace else? It's very odd that they are both not in the lineup considering the offense they provide for their prospective teams. :-k Floyd is having a bad week at the plate, and is facing a LH pitcher tonight, who he hasn't been great against this year. He might be getting dealt, but there's enough evidence to suggest that Floyd is just getting a night off.

Lee will get a day off on Monday. No need to bench this years ML's best hitter. He's really been slumping of late. A day off certainly wouldn't hurt.

Pettitte is starting against them, and Floyd has had a bad week at the plate. Could be a day off.

SoSH is convinced he's been traded, likely to the Mets, since they are apparently willing to take on all of Manny's contract.

I'm not a mod and I would never imagine questioning or telling them to how to run this fine site, but this is fairly big news (and yes, even with all the other threads out there). Might not be big news for the Cubs in the end, but still big news as seeing how the Cubs are one of the teams thought to be interested in him. All this talk will die down in a few days anywho. BigBadB(who is a mod) said in one of the threads that they(management) would prefer that no new threads be created about an already discussed topic unless it was a confirmed deal.

Pie has fewer HR because of his injury. Pie at 650 PA's projects to 28 HR, Harvey to 31 HR. And Pie is doing that 2 levels higher. -
He couldn't pick up the break on that at all. Shadows?

I don't want to bring up an old debate, but that's the sort of reaction I'd like(and expect) from the crowd in lieu of booing. Just giving an example.

All in all, a solid outing for Hill. That is assuming Dusty isn't considering sending him back out there.

I think Pie is number one, with Murton, Patterson, Harvey in the top 5. I don't know how I'd rank them, or how much weight I'd give to Dope and Cedeno's performance this year. -

I know Hill's fastball isn't the greatest, but he needs to pitch to contact more often. Especially with players like Terrero. Get a groundball or a quick out.
