  1. I'm not a mod and I would never imagine questioning or telling them to how to run this fine site, but this is fairly big news (and yes, even with all the other threads out there). Might not be big news for the Cubs in the end, but still big news as seeing how the Cubs are one of the teams thought to be interested in him. All this talk will die down in a few days anywho. BigBadB(who is a mod) said in one of the threads that they(management) would prefer that no new threads be created about an already discussed topic unless it was a confirmed deal.
  2. That would have been nice to get called the 15 or so times Hill threw that pitch.
  3. Also, I'd really like to know the train of thought that led to double switching the same spot in the order twice. The EIGHT spot in the order.
  4. Pie has fewer HR because of his injury. Pie at 650 PA's projects to 28 HR, Harvey to 31 HR. And Pie is doing that 2 levels higher.
  5. He couldn't pick up the break on that at all. Shadows?
  6. It's 2-0 Neifi, you're not going to get one better.
  7. I don't want to bring up an old debate, but that's the sort of reaction I'd like(and expect) from the crowd in lieu of booing. Just giving an example.
  8. All in all, a solid outing for Hill. That is assuming Dusty isn't considering sending him back out there.
  9. I think Pie is number one, with Murton, Patterson, Harvey in the top 5. I don't know how I'd rank them, or how much weight I'd give to Dope and Cedeno's performance this year.
  10. Thanks. To me Kurkjian is higher on the credibility scale than Olney or Phillips.
  11. I know Hill's fastball isn't the greatest, but he needs to pitch to contact more often. Especially with players like Terrero. Get a groundball or a quick out.
  12. Cripes Hill, you can have an At bat of under 5 pitches.
  13. Nomar and Lugo are the only ones I can think of, aside from standard bullpen rumors.
  14. I'm waiting for many here to start overvaluing Jay Payton since he's been acquired by Kevin Towers, Theo Epstein, and Billy Beane the past two years. on a more serious note, Jacques Jones just set his career mark for BBs in a season with about 60 games left, and in a year that his teams offense is down. you would think he'd be losing patience in that situation, but he seems to be gaining. while he's not on the top of my wish list, if he could duplicate what he has done this year for a couple seasons at Wrigley, I wouldn't mind. If Patterson is dealt, I wouldn't mind giving him a look in center, depending on the contract.
  15. C'mon Ramirez, slow roller like that you gotta go to first.
  16. I think I'm already tired of this ump's strike call.
  17. I want it to happen, you want it to happen, but we all know that it won't happen. The organization seems to like the guy as a 25th man. Yeah, the guy hitting .283 off the bench is just killing this team. If Macias was used like a 25th man should be it wouldn't be a problem. He comes into games way too soon. It probably only seems that way. At 92 AB's through 103 games it would be hard to play him much less. Everyone says Cedeno is rotting on the bench but he has 50 AB's. I don't know what his total games have been on the active roster but I would think that his AB's as a percentage of games he has been on the team are higher than Macias. Not sure about that - someone would need to check the numbers. Macias has 99 PA's in 103 games. Cedeno has 53 PA's in 54 games. The percentage is just about the same. So Cedeno's is the same or barely higher yet the perception is that Cedeno has been left rotting on the bench and Macias is used too much to be considered a true 25th man. I think that's because Macias gets a much larger portion of his AB's coming off the bench, while Cedeno's PT comes in a once a week start with a PH or two if the bench(including Macias) has already been exhausted.
  18. Macias has been pulled? Wonder where he's headed? Macias was a scratch? Rotoworld said yesterday that the Cubs were going to rest Aramis' sore quad the rest of the weekend. Ramirez said in his post-game interview that he was going to be ready to go for today.
