According to Will Carroll, Lawton was targeted, but the Pirates asked for too much and the Cubs moved on to Gerut. I wouldn't mind him. I think Burnett will be overvalued, I'm not a huge fan of his. -
Good for him. He's at .259/.354/.481 in 27 ABs as an Indian.

Yeah, Ken Rosenthal's column on Yahoo! is saying the same thing. Surprised not to hear the Cubs mentioned. Rosenthal is a hack. Even if he weren't wrong almost every time he reports something like this, it doesn't make any sense. How are the Blue Jays going to take on Manny's salary, and why would Boston trade in the division? Florida is worried about not being able to afford Burnett, and they're trying to dump Lowell, but they can take on a 20 million a year guy?

If I remember correctly from the Beltran deal last year, his totals in the NL start at 0. Not 100% sure though. -

Manny is 33, turned so in May. He'll be 36 when his contract expires if neither team option is picked up.

Guaranteed through 2008 with team options in 2009 and 2010. Any sort of buyout on those options? Not to my knowledge. Manny also gets a 1 million dollar bonus if traded. I don't know if this means he gets 1 million dollars once, or if 1 million is added to his salary every year, but I believe it is the former.

To my knowledge it's a dual option. Thomas has a 10 million player option if the Team option is declined, at least that's how I understand it. There's a 3.5 million buyout, and I think that is paid if both options are declined. -

Heh, I'm watching ESPNews, and they're talking to John Clayton. They had Olney on a little bit ago, but the only thing interesting he said was that the Cubs said they were interested in Soriano if they were dealing him, and the Rangers said okay. Said that there's a 10% chance of Soriano moving. -
Isn't Soriano's defense pretty bad at 2B? Wouldn't he be pretty awful in left? I'd think it's a little easier to play LF than 2B.

No way you can prioitize Huff and Floyd over someone with a career OPS over 1.000 Salary concerns? If that's true, why the hell is Beltran at the top of his list? Hmm, that was my best guess. I dunno. I'd go: Dunn Beltran Manny Floyd Huff Soriano

I think it's reasonably possible to have a statement looking forward to Nomar coming back without heaping praise on Neifi. And I can guarantee you that the board would not be complaining about "undermining Neifi's confidence".
