  1. The lowest point total Mizzou had all year was 20 against Texas. They have 3 against Kansas, and are on defense with under half a quarter to play.
  2. UNC just got the ball back too.
  3. I hope it's ugly. I'm an 8 on the concerned scale until we get the lead.
  4. The bullpen is a different animal in that sense. The players that Dotel would be taking the place of aren't that spectacular, and they can wait to see if he pans out in AAA. Do you think he'd accept as a non-roster invite? No way, he's worth a guaranteed roster spot, and he'll get one in all likelihood. That's why we won't be able to see if he pans out in AAA. You misinterpreted what I said. The alternatives to Dotel are fringe prospects that can be in AAA or long relief in wait if Dotel doesn't get his stuff back.

  6. CPatterson20 wrote: I wasn't specifically replying to you, just posting as an observation. Soriano is crazy overrated. Even with his ridiculous Ameriquest numbers, he had a .309 OBP(691 suck factor), that's just not good. Plus he's a poor defender, and he'll command a lot in cash and players. With Walker already on board, there's no reason to pursue him.
  7. Soriano away from Ameriquest this year: .224/.265/.374/.639
  8. Name 3 from this year aside from the Philly game. So, no then?
  9. I don't think it's a mistake to take chances on guys like that with creative contracts (Dempster). It's a mistake when you rely so heavily on guys with recent injuries, and don't have a decent backup plan. This is a contradiction to your other notion that Hendry is directly responsible for not improving the Chiacgo Cubs in 2004 and 2005 partially because of signing too many high-risk injury contracts, isn't it? No, it's not. Guaranteeing small money is not high-risk. It may not be high risk financially, but guaranteeing a roster spot to someone who is an injury risk at the expense of someone you can count on for a year in a position where you are currently lacking when you're hoping to compete is a big risk to take. The bullpen is a different animal in that sense. The players that Dotel would be taking the place of aren't that spectacular, and they can wait to see if he pans out in AAA.
  10. Really? I just saw that he was on the MLB.com website as someone who filed for FA. He can file for Free Agency, it just won't matter if the option gets picked up.
  11. In August, Rusch started 4 games, went 16.1 innings, and gave up 18 ER, going 0-4. Rusch wasn't an effective starter. He had a WHIP near 1.50 and a BAA near .300. He was even worse as a reliever. If he picks up his player option then we're stuck with him, but he's definitely not the type of player we should be extending for TWO years.
  12. Interesting, they might consider Swisher for CF too. Not if they care about defense. Swisher was apparently bad in the OF this season. He was a little below average, but I thought he was a CF coming through the system? I don't know what the scouting report is on him, he and Kotsay looked similar in size when I saw them play at the Jake earlier this year.
  13. Interesting, they might consider Swisher for CF too.
  14. Burroughs would be a great bench target IMO. He'll make a little more, but we have the money, and a change of scenery and role might help him out a lot. He can back up 2nd, 3rd, and maybe 1st too. His career has a startling resemblence to Patterson's.
  15. Name 3 from this year aside from the Philly game.
  16. The best was the secret home run derby location that was a living room.
  17. Neither do I. Must've been from the old Triple Play video games. I was an impressionable youth in those days you know, or something.
  18. Are you talking about the 5 spot? Because I'd classify Lee and Ramirez as at least good, and you might remember this other outfielder that did a decent job hitting for power a while back.
  19. A while back I had the impression that Buck Martinez was a good analyst. I don't know why.
  20. I don't think that's the case at all, and I have no idea if it would be a good idea. My guess is no.
  21. pansy, he doesn't even care, look at him. It's ridiculous to make inferences to a person's character based on their expressions. People respond differently to different situations.
  22. Lugo's not exactly a .362 OBP guy. He did it this year, but it's 20 points higher than typical for him, and it came when he hit 20 points better than his career norms, and had a BABIP 20 points higher than expected. He'll probably be more around his .275/.340/.400 levels next year. That said, that doesn't make him a bad target, considering his outstanding defense and favorable contract situation with Cedeno in the wings. If the cost wasn't too bad, I would welcome him as an acquisition.
  23. I think I saw a quote that a baseball has the same number of stitches as the catholic rosary, 108 sounds right.
  24. Unfortunately, it's going to be very difficult to upgrade all 3 OF spots. That's why it's imperative to keep the infield very productive.
