  1. I was about to post the same thing. Gammons has a decent idea of what's going on, he just isn't very good at interpreting that info into what's going to happen.
  2. Barrett has very little discipline whatsoever. IsoD of .069. .069 is pretty good. it is? I thougth .100 was good, anything else higher was great. Something like .069 would be like scoring a D on a test. I could be wrong. Adding on to what MPrior said, very few hitters have a .100+ IsoD. Off the top of my head I'd guess that there's fewer than one per team.

  4. Where did he come up with those projections for Burnitz and Hollygagger anyways? Cmon man, Burnitz had the 6th best OPS of guys who struck out over 130 times and grounded into fewer than 7 double plays that are Scorpios. He's a stud.
  5. Gratuitous JK Ryu reference. [-X Randy Johnson I thought. Ryu just hit the bird, Johnson made it go poof.
  6. Yeah, that one really came back to bite them when they made the playoffs and Florida didn't. Lo Duca wasn't that great, and he's been downright bad since he went to Florida. The Dodgers, who were likely to make the playoffs even if they did nothing at the deadline, saw their pitching ERAs go through the roof as they went only 16-15 in September and October of that year. They then sleepwalked and lost to the Cardinals in four games. They certainly could have used their emotional leader. And I don't agree with the downright bad characterization, as Lo Duca a better year this past season than he did in 2002 or 2003. The pitching was also 3rd in baseball for the month of August after LoDuca was traded. A catcher has less control over pitchers than you give them credit for. Whether or not Lo Duca was as productive in '02 or '03(His '02 was better than this year, his '03 similar) doesn't change the fact that he wasn't very productive, and it wasn't a huge blow to lose him.
  7. Didn't he almost end his career because he got wasted and almost burned through his forearm with a lit cigar? That was him right? Something with him and putting fire to his pitching arm, I'm not sure of the specifics.

  9. Hank hit a Patterson-esque .231/.276/.335/.611 away from Ameriquest this year. Patterson, Nolasco and Williams for Abreu would be good. Patterson and Nolasco to Texas, Blalock and Williams to Philly.
  10. Pythageowhat? I don't believe in that stupid Baseball America and Billy Beane crap. All I know is that the good teams find a way to win in real life. The White Sox finished six games better than the Indians this year and then went on to win the World Series. If both team return the exact same rosters, it stands to reason that the White Sox would be favored until the Sox demonstrate that they aren't as good or the Indians demonstrate that they are better. Do you know what Baseball America is?
  11. No, it'll be for 13.5 million. They will either pay him 13.5, or 3 million to buy out the contract. 3 million is sunk. it's 10.5 or 0. That depends on what year you think the buyout is put towards. It doesn't matter to what year the $3 million buyout is allocated. The decision that will have to be made is whether it's worth spending an additional 10.5 million for an additional year of Kerry Wood's services. If you think the buyout is allocated towards '06, then Wood either counts 13.5 million, or nothing towards the '07 payroll. I'm pretty sure that's the decision Warpticon was referring to.
  12. I have Edmonds at 12 million, Rolen at 13.625 mil, and Walker was due a 1 million buyout, but I have no idea what his retirement does to that.

  14. That explanation didn't really tell me why baserunning should be included in OBP and not SLG. OBP's greatest value as an evaluation is how many times you don't make an out. If you want to increase the accuracy of how many runs a player helps you contribute, you calculate how often you get past first base by yourself, or SLG. That's where steals and baserunning should be incorporated. His logic for putting steals in OBP could be applied for 2B, 3B, and HR under that logic.
  15. He has no power and limited range. I like his plate discipline, but we need a big bat in RF. No power? He had a .553 SLG this year and a nearly .250 IsoP. yeah, i'm wrong. where did this power come from anyways? he never hit above .500 SLG in the minors (or his first year in Arizona). the most HRs he had in a season was 10 before this year. was 2005 an aberration? He was a high doubles guy in the minors, looks like more of those are leaving the park, and more singles are getting to the gap. He may not be a .550 SLG guy perennially, but he's still only 25, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was able to consistently put up those numbers.

  17. Thanks for finding last year's thread, Serena. Can it be accessed by none Premium members? I tried using the same url but just deleting the premium part, but that didn't work. I just took out the Premium portion and it worked fine.
  18. Kendrick, Butler, and Gordon go 0-5 with a walk against Gooz. Good to see.
  19. What the hell does that mean?? I've never quite understood it. http://www.kuhistory.com/proto/story.asp?id=85
  20. What's that mean? Are you saying that no other teams would have offered Glendon a contract? Because I think that's false. I don't like this rumored deal one bit, but let's not pretend that Hendry is "bidding against himself." And to answer the poll question... no, I honestly don't have faith in Hendry anymore. He just doesn't seem to understand what this team needs. Just because other teams offer Rusch a contract doesn't mean he's bidding against himself. If Player A gets a bunch of offers, and the best of the offers is 5 million, you're bidding against yourself by offering 10 million. It's the same thing that happened with Maddux. Someone would've taken him, but there was no indication anyone was going to go nearly as high as Hendry did.
  21. KSU fumbles away a punt at their own 20 with one minute left. Screw you KSU.
  22. BSU was the school that got crushed with suspensions, right? Do they have those guys back?
  23. KSU with the ball and 6 mins left tied at 20 with Colorado. Please pull this out KSU, I'll love you until tomorrow.
