  1. See Mike Aller's sig for details.
  2. He also had the good fortune of Bobby Jenks coming in and kicking tail out of the bullpen. Without Jenks, I'm not sure how well the White Sox would have done in the playoffs. Yeah but a lot of managers wouldn't have put Jenks in the closer role in the first place. He could have put Hermanson back in once he got healthy. When did Hermanson come back? I distinctly remember watching Hermanson blow a 9th inning against the Royals near the end of the season, right before I left the rec center.
  3. In his prime? Definitely. I'm not sure on that one. His 2001 season was by far the best any Cub has ever had, but it would be hard to argue Sosa's 1998-2002 run was much better than Hack Wilson's performance from 1926-1930 Career-wise Ernie Banks and Cap Anson should definitely be in the conversation. I knew there was someone I forgot to check. Figures I checked Tinkers and Evers and not Wilson.
  4. Well you're right, he's totally at risk to take another line drive off the elbow, or to collide on the basepaths with a midget second baseman. There are some flaws w/Prior's mechanics, there are some things he does very well w/his delivery and some things that need to be fixed. And how does that compare to the rest of the league? Is he more mechanically flawed than Jason Marquis or Doug Davis? No one has a truly flawless delivery.
  5. In his prime? Definitely On the whole? IMO it's him and Billy Williams.

  7. Can Gardner transfer? He'd have to be really really upset to choose the NBDL over the new coach. I've heard whispers of Gardner, Horton, and Brown all talking transfer/draft, if they leave, along with Young and McKinney graduating, we could have a new starting five next year. God Bless America. With the way this program is already going, if mass transfers occur, then Mizzou basketball will go even farther into the tubes then they already are. I just hope football season next year goes A LOT better than the crap we've gone through for basketball. By the way Tiger posters, you think Alden should be fired? With the way events have currently unfolded, I say yes. I'd be surprised if all 3 of those guys left. Horton wouldn't be that big a loss, and I think Gardner's more likely to leave than Brown. On a side note, I know that there's probably no violations going on now, because I keep seeing Marshall Brown and Kevin Young getting off or waiting for the bus. :P
  8. They're both awful. Baker is terrible with pitchers, and Ozzie can't keep his paws off the offense.
  9. Texas, I believe. I know it was Texas's farm team in the mid-late nineties. I'm uncertain if they have shifted affiliations. Yep, BA agrees.
  10. Wow... http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/ap/CUBS_SPRING_BASEBALL.sff_AZNH109_20060216145455.jpg
  11. What system has a minor league team in Oklahoma City?
  12. Tied with Grier for the lead at 2.5 per game.
  13. First Inning says that Soriano hasn't had a BABIP over .341 since Rookie ball.
  14. From a numbers perspective, there's Je'kel Foster, then there's planet earth. S. Brown and Davis have decent cases. Vukusic scores a bunch and is decently efficient, Killingsworth is right there but he can't make a free throw. I'm surprised how inefficient all the Iowa players are. Im sorry, but I highly doubt the people who vote for player of the year for the conference look at the efficiency numbers you are always talking about. After being at the Wisconsin/OSU game last night, I would cast my vote for Terrence Dials, he was unstoppable and has put up great numbers all year. We're talking about who deserves it, not who will get it. If you want to talk that, then the MSU trio will take votes from itself, Dee Brown will get undeserved votes, and Dials, Tucker, and Killingsworth will also pull some in. If OSU finishes in second or better, Dials might take it.

  16. No, its not. Reports are that his lawyer has worked out a settlement package. Just make sure that you don't screw it up as badly as Mizzou has. They managed to make the process of getting rid of a bad coach a black mark to the university.
  17. From what I gathered at another board, Knight went on Cold Pizza, and said he didn't want to talk about it when questioned about the current IU situation. The interviewer pressed the topic, and Knight got mad and stormed off the set(?).
  18. Katz elaborated in his blog to the same extent, that it's very unlikely that Few leaves Gonzaga, and Calipari too with Memphis(although that was in reference to the Mizzou job, so who knows with a more prestigious job)
  19. Excellent news about Williams.
  20. Wow -- seems strange that only Seth Davis is reporting this. Just checked some other sites and no one else has picked up the story. If Davis is really resigning, who do the Hoosiers target for head coach? They just broke in on ESPN and said an ESPN.com source(Katz? wasn't paying close attention) said Davis resigned.
  21. you have problems with that, don't you? :D That's what I get for guessing based on uniforms after a brief glance at two teams who are both red and white. Looks like Wisconsin holds on and Penn State will win pending FTs.
  22. Penn State leads IU by 2 in Happy Valley with 4 minutes to play. Wisconsin and OSU nearly knotted up in C-Bus EDIT: my bad, Wisky-OSU is at Kohl
  23. It must really burn people that you can strike out a lot and still be really good offensively.
  24. If Bagwell can play, the Astros could be a considerably better offensive team. Defensively, if he can throw first to third than I'm all for him coming back. I'd love nothing more than for Bagwell to have a really solid year. He's a class act who you have to chear on. Berkman reports that he has extra mobility since the surgery so he should be able to do a decent job in left. My big concern is Wilson in center. He's much more suited to left with his knees. Regardless, I'm rooting for Bagwell through all of this. Who plays instead of Bagwell if he isn't back? When he did play last year he wasn't a very good offensive player, especially poor for a 1B.
