  1. Has Nico already walked more than he did all of last year?
  2. Well, you can't have a fielding percentage higher than 1.000, so I'm going with the OPS. 😃
  3. he's hitting the ball at 115 & 105 miles an hour at lower launch angles that aren't as exposed to the wind
  4. His curve really is something else. He's consistently breaking them off with 40+ inches of vertical break with <=3 inches of horizontal. A true 12-6 hammer curveball. Oh, and he's doing that at 85 miles an hour.
  5. He's ranged from 10-16 inches of vertical break and anywhere from 4-13 inches of arm side run. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?date=4/3/2024&gamePk=746900&chartType=pitch&legendType=pitchName&playerType=pitcher&inning=&count=&pitchHand=&batSide=&descFilter=&ptFilter=&resultFilter=&hf=pitchVelocity&sportId=1#746900
  6. Cubs are winning 90+ Pirates aren't a threat.
  7. 6' 2" is short? Damn, I've been demoted.
  8. Yeah, he's not going to have a 0% ground ball rate all year. He's a veteran pitcher who likely optimized his game plan based on the conditions.
  9. He's got a pretty broad pitch mix that he can go to under different conditions. The key to me was how much swing and miss he was able to generate with the 4 seamer, plus getting whiffs on 50% of the splits he threw. When you've got that much swing and miss with your two core pitches, it gives a lot of flexibility to tweak things as you go. Certainly not every game is going to be in the cold, with wind howling in, and facing the Rockies. But nobody is expecting him to have a 0.00 era at the end of the year, either.
  10. I'm philosophically opposed to extending pitchers before its necessary. They break way too often for that.
  11. Yes, If not more so. Something like 20 swings and misses.
  12. Can we start from the second hitter of Wicks' debut?
  13. I was a senior at UofI at the time. 😃
  14. huh - A lot of interesting players, but that roster is old. Only a single player born 1/1/2001 or later (PCA). Only a couple guys born in the year 2k.
  15. I believe that's the elbow he hurt sliding into second the other day. Unless there's another new thing on top of that.
  16. The plan is to make Reinsdorf money.
  17. Yeah, this is more of a "now" issue. By mid-year, they could easily have several guys ready for MLB at bats.
  18. To be clear, I wasn't saying what I think the Cubs will do. I was just laying out what I'd do. I was very close to including Madrigal and excluding Peralta, but I'm hoping Morel shows he can cover 3B well enough. If not, Madrigal is a phone call away at Iowa.
  19. When at full strength, I think my bench would be: Amaya, Peralta, Cooper, Mastro, Tauchman That may be too many lefties on the bench, but we're a bit right handed in the lineup. I wanted to slot Peralta in for Tauchman entirely, but someone has to back up CF. But Peralta is my primary LHH pinch hitter & DH when not resting guys. Tauchman for OF defense. Mastrobuoni for pinch running & IF defense. Cooper is DH vs lefties or short-sided platoon 1B.
  20. And Caissie
  21. Chargers pick at five (Giants at six), and I see them tied to Alt just about everywhere.
