You could probably talk me into a deal centered around Alcantara and Triantos, combined with a 35 prospect or two. But there's no way I'm giving up Caissie in that deal, too. You're approaching the cost SD paid for Juan Soto when he still had 3.5 years of control.
We're all assuming the cost is prohibitive (I am, too). But I'm absolutely making an offer if I'm Jed.
When it gets turned down, I'd be like "how about the same offer for Erceg?"
lol - you understand he's working on bigger moves, also, but that those take time as the other team has a say in when the trade is made, right?
In the meantime, he's being opportunistic and looking for minor improvements when they're available.
Looks like Miller's significantly changed his pitch usage this year. He's going almost exclusively with cutters and sliders and it's obviously been working so far.
I certainly wouldn't do a premium draft pick every year on goalies. You have to fill six times as many forward positions and three times as many defensemen as you do goalies.
This isn't like offensive linemen where the shelf life is short and you have 8-9 spots to keep filled.
I can't decide whether I want them to prioritize getting another scorer or if I want to lock down a #1 defenseman.
The biggest complaint I've heard about Demidov is his skating, which may not fit the style the Hawks are trying to build.
Disconnected thoughts there, but I'm going to be thrilled with whomever they take at #2.
