  1. Kaplan claims that the Cubs are talking to Miami about getting a reliever. Tanner Scott was the big name last year, but he's unable to throw strikes this season (and wasn't really able to throw them in 2021 or 2022). Bender would be my pick of the rest of the guys, but Nardi and Faucher would also be good targets to go after.
  2. Okay, fine, that was super easy. (btw - the recent content page is incredibly flexible to see things however you want)
  3. As someone that browses the forum pretty much exclusively based on recent content, the only thing that annoys me is that there are two links for every article. If I were less lazy, there's probably a filter I could find to edit that out. But then there's the whole lazy thing.
  4. Gotta believe if the imaging had shown anything bad for Wicks that he wouldn't be playing catch
  5. Look at TT stealing my ideas from yesterday. 🙂
  6. Whoa on that jump for Rojas
  7. On the bright side, there are so many teams that already have no hope this year that I think trades will start to happen in late May / early June. Oakland has some targets other than Miller that should come cheaper (I really like Erceg from that group). There aren't as many obvious options on other teams, but Colorado, the White Sox, the Marlins, and Angels are already down to a near zero percent chance of making the playoffs. I'm actually hoping Washington craters over the next month. I'd love to target Hunter Harvey as someone that could help this year and next. He's not a "closer", so he'd come a bit cheaper. But he throws a ton of strikes, throws hard, and gets whiffs. He's even been a ground ball monster so far this year, too.
  8. I really wasn't expecting Shota to be better than prime Arreita, yet here we are.
  9. Also, for those wanting to trade the entire farm for Mason Milller...the Cubs only have two more blown saves than Oakland so far this year (6 to 4).
  10. Bullpen metrics leading into today: WAR: Cubs rank 26th ERA: 22nd FIP: 24th WPA: 14th For bullpens, WPA (win probability added) may be the best measure of how the bullpen has actually impacted games to date (though not the best predictor of future success). Overall, the bullpen has been bad at preventing runs. But it has had a small net positive impact on actual game results. Take from that what you will.
  11. Yes, it's too early A lot
  12. I want Caleb to have all the tools to succeed right away. I'd hold onto Keenan for that value alone. Also, even top WR often take a year to grow in the NFL. Allen is one of the comps I've seen for Rome - having him on the team to learn from in year 1 is another big value. I'd take those two things over a 4th round pick.
  13. I'm now a Poles fanboy, I think.
  14. Bears have added Caleb, Rome, Allen & Swift in the last two months. Crazy stuff. Can't wait for this season.
  15. today he's already gone 2-5 with a double and a stolen base
  16. Sure, but we may not have the assets it would take to move up far enough to get him.
  17. Pitch 5 to Busch was a bad call and should have been ball three. However... Pitch 4 to Busch was a bad call and should have been strike three anyway.
  18. Fergie wasn't throwing 95 to a lineup stacked with hitters like today. Proper plate discipline was rare. Etc.
  19. That should be a really fun team to follow
